Castle Tioram is a stunning castle with some great history and the location is just amazing. Jim and I have been big Rush fans from mid 70's. Our first gig was at the Glasgow Apollo in 1976. We've been to around 30 Rush gigs since then, the last being at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto in 2015. Hi TatorMan73, thanks for taking the time to comment on our Clan Mackintosh film. It's genuinely appreciated by Jim and I. As you probably know, Clan Davidson played a huge part in the founding of Clan Chatten along with the MacPherson Clan. Still going strong to this day. From what we have picked up from our research, it's thought that David Dubh, (Cummings/Comyn) the founder of Clan Davidson (Clan Dhia) is a direct descendant from the Picts? There are apparently many stories on the formation of your ancestoral Clan, all of them, probably, with a little bit of truth in them. That's part of what makes Scottish history what it is I suppose. @@thetwatogs I myself have only recently gotten interested in this history. I have started doing research on my own family and that has led back to this info. Now the pict thing was only from one video i found. It's something I'm still learning about which is why I loved your video. I'm always wanting to explore more and learn as much as I can.

The castle in the Clan Mackintosh film is Rait Castle, which was originally owned by the Comyn Clan. (originally known as De Rait) The castle is not far from Nairn, close to Inverness. As you will have seen in the film, the big story of the castle is the slaughter of the Comyn's and the ghost of the daughter of the owner of the castle, who murdered her for having an affair with a young Mackintosh and and passing on secret info to him. The full story is in our film. Keep up your research into your ancestors. Like Jim and I, you'll get a brilliant buzz from it. 😁 👍

Yes, you are totally correct about the Scottish descendants in Jamaica, in fact, It has been said that up to 60% of names in the Jamaican telephone directory are Scottish in origin there is evidence that a list of the 30 most common surnames in Jamaica, include Anderson, which is my own surname, Campbell, Gordon, Graham, Grant, Malcolm, Millar and Dixson. Again you are spot on with the original cause being that of Scottish prisoners of war from the Cromwellian wars, the Jacobite rebellions and the Covenanters uprising were all exiled to Jamaica and other Caribbean Islands such as Barbados. Many of these exiles were taken as slaves who worked alongside slaves of African descent in the sugar plantations. Wow! 6000 McIntosh’s living in Jamaica. That is amazing. Jamaica is a very diverse island in ethnicities so much west African, European and Asian descendants here all mixed into one but the Scottish and irish names stand out the most here if anything .....and thank you for the work you guys did in the video to help spreading knowledge on the clan and I hope all is well 🇯🇲🖤 one thing I must say it's a shame the uk doesn't acknowledge Jamaica restricting travel to Jamaicans unless we earn a visa with all the history the countries have together much love from across the pond 💯🙏🏿

The story of 'Colonel Anne' is fascinating and we could make a film just about her on her own. Just had a wee look at Robert Mcintosh's ('the bandmaster') history. Born in Perthshire, travelling to Australia on the 'Windham' and becoming a farmer/settler is a story in its self that fits in well with the overall fantastic history of the Clan Mackintosh. 😁 Cheers Chris. As you may have gathered, we are very proud of our Scottish history and heritage and we make these short Scottish history films just for fun and to get some of the lesser known history stories and their locations out to folks across the world with the hope folks might find them interesting. @@thetwatogs Thank you for the reply. My great great grandmother was a “McIntosh”, and I hope , she is from the same clan as Macintosh. Her family migrated from Scotland to Tennessee. So I’m very interested to learn. Technically, I work in marketing, so if I may suggest to give my feedback to perhaps help on future projects …In regards to your accents, I love the sound of your voices talking, but, I think the volume is too low due to microphone challenges , so the music makes it harder for me to hear the consonants. But If you added translations at the bottom , I would love, it and I could follow along much better.

@@part3photography Daniel Mackintosh, born 1821 near Edinburgh. Came across the Atlantic from Liverpool in 1845 bound for New Orleans. He was part of the "Miller Company" Mormon Handcart group and was the Company Clerk. They made the trek to Salt Lake in 1852 and in 1854 he was appointed to the office of Treasurer of the then "Territory" of Utah appointed by Brigham Young. I would love to find more about him or anyone related to him still in Scotland.

@@soylentg6270 My apologies for this late reply, I can guess if you try one of the Genealogy web sites you could find out more about Danial, My mother cousin who lives in England did an Anderson family tree for my mum that went back to the Isle of Mull in the early 18th century and discovered my mother grandmother was a relation the the Campbell's of Mull and lived in a castle on the island, his information was given by the Mormons who I believe hold lots of early UK records of births and deaths, so If you ask one of your local Mormon churches, I'm sure they would point you in the right direction and hopefully give you some answers, or perhaps write to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland as I'm sure they will hold records too ( and perhaps give you the exact location of Daniel's birth place? @@thetwatogs I didn’t know this was a Kennedy castle, I believe the Scottish Kennedy’s to be part of my ancestry so is of interest, I would love to know where the family grave is located near the castle so I can visit next time I’m up there

I was just saying to Jim (the other Twa Tog) I wondered if you could be related to the Ayrshire Kennedy's? The graves are literally a 3 minute walk from the old Dalquharran Castle. Sadly, as you probably saw in our film? The graves are unkept and in a seriously condition. We hope you get to visit these amazing castles one day soon. We do have plans to make another adventure, later in the year, to Greenan Castle, near Ayr, which also has a has a link to your ancestors. Keep your eye on our channel for that one. @@davidkennedy5044 David, ( Jim here) When Ian and I did this filming last year, we did go to the graveyard and to be honest we did take pictures and a small video, most of the grave stones were damaged and the ones that had not been the writings on them had been covered in moss and other organisms, that’s why we only posted the one image of the Kennedy graveyard, if I can find the other images I took, I will let you know on here and if you want I can send them to you? Matias Geraldo the 2nd ( What a brilliant name) we have to agree with you on this occasion, anyone Not from Scotland watching our channel will find it hard to understand the Scottish accent ( although we do try to keep our Scots dialect to a minimum) thank you for taking the time to look at our Castle Tioram video ( I'm guessing you never watched the whole 16 minutes) Both Ian and I (Jim) are happy that you stopped by... just for a laugh you should watch 3 minutes of our videos with the Captions on, you'll notice that the RUclips algorithm for the English language finds it difficult to translate our dialect in much the same way you did :-)
