hi how do i lengthen a galvanized J bolt in concrete that is alittle too short the get to bite. Do i weld on an extension or create a new hole and use wedge anchor. I would prefer to extend bolt if possible.
Thank you so much. I'm planning on building my small metal building in valley that experience frequent high winds and desperately need to know how add wind rod braces.
not sure if i will get a response, but what is a fair price to pay someone to erect a building? 60x100x20. got quoted 62,000, just seems REALLY high
sorry, I've been on the road and didn't see the notification. Wow that's $10 + per sqft when I left California it averaged 5.50 6.25 in 2022 and at that time I was charging (building on your slab) about $5 maybe 5.25 per just because once you hit 20' and borderline 18' equipment is different. I would have been right around the $30,000 mark and usually, guys with more experience can get away with streamlined prices because they know what they are doing unless you are in a union area and then it goes through the roof. Generally, I would find that when you get High quotes it would be because of two things The contractor is too busy, and if they get the job it would be worth their while. The second reason that I have found is the contractor is unsure maybe a little intimidated by the build and not too sure so they try to cover for unseen or unknown situations that might come up. (I know this is a long reply) but also too cheap can get you into trouble too. non-licensed no insurance and also lack of experience things put together wrong so forth. hope this helps you and or anyone who may read this later!
@@mcneillysteelcorp.9443 thank you for your help and information. I appreciate it. I'll keep getting quotes. Thanks again
Mueller buildings have the wall girts slotted for cable bracing from the factory. Also the base angle is pre-punched for your drive pins.
Thanks for all then tips
Do you have any erectors in central California? I'm about to purchase a red iron building and looking for estimates
Roof first? Or walls first? Does it mater?
Walls then roof...it stabilizes the building
@@DaveNotInCali yes thanks. I ended up doing the walls first.
Wonderful video! God Bless!

I went down memory lane remembering a couple of diy metal buildings I was involved with assembling. The experiences definitely bought out some of that "putting metal buildings together" language from us all.
What a great overview and explanation Dave!
Great
Hi Shannon. I hope you and your family are all doing well.
As a journey level I fully agree. Very high maintenance after coatings are applied. Hey Dave up here in N Cali. All the offices, have been recently applying coatings again*. I recall tearing off schools, offices, pwage stuff......because of old coating failures etc. now soon again. Your content/advice FYI is spot sir. Though crickets do need a bit of more attention at all roof penetrations when standing seems are elevated rib types ( roofing). I gotta say I liked best the full hidden fastener type roofing
Not that stupid hidden fastener roofing brand where we drive the machine up the ribs and it hems it machine....silly waste of time but nearly all other hidden fastener roofing systems are great. Kinda like how when all AHJs pulled an UL listed ground screws that was great for ground mount solar installs{commercial and resi} ( zero foundation inspections[not until final]). But then ( around 2016) not allowed after about 2.5 years. To this day I have never heard of a single failure with ground screws. Seriously easy, sound, and fast. They require concrete foundations for solar 99.9 % of the time now. Multiple inspections again for foundation and if screws were allowed there would be less inspections, there would be less labor hours, less pollution, less delay as we wait for inspections in busy jurisdictions, less injury ( again there would be zero digging nor zero concrete placement needed). When solar systems fail downstream..... there will be a lot of concrete under the ground. With ground screws they can be removed easily too( unscrewed).
Thank you for commenting and I see you also on my other channels
My guess is that the homeowner has already asked for a variance from the buildings dept. but if not, I’d go that route first. Might be cheaper to go that way then it is to pour slab extension and move building. Just a thought. Best of luck.
All you need is like 200 Amish guys
Maybe Put solar on it. Just 1 panel. Use ca solar rights act about location issue. Maybe they( the AHJ) will get all gooey over green this or that. It might be worth asking the AHJ. Tehama county created a couple in-house ( lame) rules that solar rights act rules allowed for. It might be worth asking. Dave I hope this works out ok for you and your customer.
