Ok I will do some more investigation against my second ballast. I see from your video that there is 10vdc across purple and grey with nothing connected. Also, I see from your video that your pot says A100K which is an audio taper not linear taper like mine which says B100K. That is not my issue but just pointing that out for others looking to do this.
If you measure zero volts DC between the grey and purple dim wires, the ballast should go to 50% power after the warm up time period. If you are measuring 0 VDC between the grey and purple dim wires with no current sink installed, my guess would be a fault within the ballast circuitry.
Ok so my multimeter was partially at fault. I fixed it and now I read 10vdc across the two leads. The pot is measuring properly at 100k but I don't see any actual dimming of the light output despite the voltage dropping. Does it take time to dim?
I connected a 100k ohm linear taper potentiometer like you describe and nothing happened on my ballasts. I then tried to measure the voltage across the grey and purple wire and it reads 0v. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I've been using these ballasts since they came out (6 YEARS) and have NEVER seen this work. I've just tried it AGAIN and it still doesn't work. Went way past 150K, even and NO change at all. Either his unit is malfunctioning or he's inducing a voltage from his volt meter. THIS DOES NOT WORK. And I DO have the 12.56 volts, which lowers to 11,6 when I put 300K across it. Do the dimmer function the way Philips says to do it.
