Can you turn it on without the cruise control being on? Use it on its own?
I was going to add the same question, but it seems it's not possible in the mercedes to use this feature without the cruise control. However, you an use it in the Audi. It's so weird.

LKA is the worst fricken feature and the fact that you can't disable it permanently is borderline vehicular communism
Cars now a days. If I drive whatever I want the steering will fight back. I'll buy cheapest car so it doesn't do that.
Does it apply slight brake in the curve.
I hate it, switching off this constantly. its more dangerous than helpful.
Did you find a way to disable lane assist forever?
@@matiasriquelme4690 no, it has to be done by mercedes dealer I bought the car from, by computer software connected directly to car.

I think what you are seeing here is the Active Steering Assist and not the Active Lane Keeping Assist. The latter only warns you when you cross the lines or drive to close to it.
lane keeping assist nudges you back into the lane as well when you cross the line. but yeah this is clearly not that.
I believe this is the distronic system ?
@@G30sg it is, you can tell by the steering wheel.
@@G30sg MB’s distronic is cruise control combined with distance control for leading vehicles. It works in concert with active steering assist, but not a lane keeping feature in itself.
I believe that's correct. On my car the Active Lane Keeping Assist vibrates one side of the steering wheel when the car drifts toward a lane marker. Frankly, I don't know as I'd be comfortable having mysterious forces trying to control my steering wheel, when I drive I find it works best to stay awake and alert and in my lane.
