Morning Atmospheric Woodland Photography
This week's adventure we go to one of my favorite nature preserves in search of birch trees and foggy conditions. This area has abundant wildlife, low laying marshy areas and ponds. The conditions were almost perfect, but this area never disappoints no matter the atmosphere.

In this week's behind the scenes, I head to a local nature preserve in search of spring Trillium. After getting up before the sunrise I realize I'm a week early for the bloom. Instead of packing up and leaving I opted to focus on the smaller scenes. An inspiration for the was from watching and learning from Simon Booth. His channel will be linked further down. Let me know, would you consider th...

This week I go to Michigan City Lighthouse in search of long exposures and reflection shots. Upon arrival the lake was rolling with six-to-ten-foot waves crashing into the pier and lighthouse. Foggy Winter Lighthouse

In this week's video I brave -20F degree temperatures to capture some stunning photos of Michigan City Lighthouse. But what I managed to capture are some of my favorite images from this location. #landscapephotography #seascapephotography #longexposurephotography music lice...
Oh to walk that wide path of fresh snow😍 I love the way snow clings to only one side of a tree or outlines the branches.
Beautiful collection of images - a pastel dreamscape.
Enjoyed your video. I also follow Booth and Baxter. Great photographers. Subscribed and looking forward to future videos.
Thank you very much, work has me away from shooting videos at the moment, but there's more to come
Awesome and fabulous, Super amazing presentation, Wonderful and incredible work ✨✨👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!

Great photos. Any taken with the camera low to the ground with some plants up close? Like looking through....?
Not on this visit, but in others
The photo at 20:28 is my favorite, but they're all really nice.
Beautiful shots. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Thats very nice and moody conditions and photos 👌🙂
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate that
Good video Bill, with some super atmospheric photos. Thanks 🙂
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate it. I'm glad you enjoyed it
Nice low key video with some great images, Bill. I had to watch on my phone this time, but your shots still looked great. Thanks for sharing.
I greatly appreciate the kind compliment, thank you.
Have to admit, I'm a little jealous. I don't know of any place near me that has trillium in such great numbers. It's usually just a patch here, a patch there, and a lot of individuals. If I had a place like this, I'd make a point of getting out each year. It's been a couple years now since I last photographed the trillium. Yeah, keeping to the trails can make things a bit more difficult, but in the end it really is worth it in what we leave for others. The trillium are also very fragile and if you disturb them too much, they won't be back.
I definitely try to get there every year they bloom, it's absolutely amazing to be honest. And it's sad, but I see people trampling through areas like this with no respect for anyone else that could enjoy them. Especially next generations. I greatly appreciate the comment, thank you very much.
Thanks for sharing your Trillium experience. I admire your approach and respect for the nature around you when taking your images. Thank you 🙂
I greatly appreciate that. It's pretty amazing how many people treat it the opposite. I hate seeing it
This is fantastic!
Thank you very much
Beautiful location Bill. As far as I know, we don't have any bluebells in Oregon, but there is a little park with some great flowers that I keep hoping to get back to. It's about an hour a way and work always complicates things. Maybe next year.
That's about the distance away from me. This preserve is just over an hour. Not being close, you're reliant on weather apps, etc... work is one of my issues too lol
That shot of the plane at 6:05 is class!! Nailed it.
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate that
Lovely video and great shots, I always find it difficult to shot in woodland but you got some great images. The shot at 16:48 is my fav.
I really appreciate that, thank you very much. Woodland is definitely difficult at times, especially if it's filled with undergrowth.
Great stuff, Bill 👏🏻👏🏻 Looks like you had a great morning. Love those shots from last year as well.
Thank you very much. It was an amazing time, for sure. I actually beat the sun last year and made a big difference with that morning light
I don't manage to get out for the trillium every year, but I do enjoy shooting them. I actually got 3 videos out of it 2 years ago as I was starting my channel. Definitely one of my favorite flowers, maybe because of the limited time to see them.
They definitely don't last long once they bloom. The last couple years I got there right in time, but it could be a week or two difference year to year. I have another one coming up when I went back here. I'll check out your channel
Thanks for an interesting video, Bill
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Nice. Beautiful conditions 👍
Thank you very much
Great shots, Bill 👏🏻👏🏻 we have those chaos moments from time to time. Sometimes more than others. Haha. Is that an older F-mount 100-400?
Absolutely on the chaos. Yes, it's actually a sigma 100-400 F mount. It does a decent job, but it's a little finicky with auto focus.
Good job Bill. These YT channels take time and serious effort, but you have a likeable and natural style. Keep on going buddy!
I greatly appreciate the kind words of encouragement. Thank you very much.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing & big like
I greatly appreciate that, thank you very much.

You've got me going for a walk through the woods 🪵 this weekend 👍👍🌳
Somehow I didn't see this. I apologize. Hope you had a great woodland hike
Nicely done keep up the great work God bless
Thank you very much I really appreciate it. 🙏
Very cool!
Thank you very much. Without a tracker, I used a wide angle to capture the entire event.
I'm loving your taking us throughout your process and giving us the camera settings you choose. I'm rather new to photography and this is very helpful to me! All your images are beautiful. Glad I stumbled upon you channel. 😊
That makes me really happy to hear. I'm grateful that it's helping, that's really what it's all about. I'm far from being an expert, but what I do know I love to share. Best advice I could give is to not worry about mistakes, and don't be afraid to ask anything. There are no dumb questions. If there's anything you are struggling with, reach out in the comments, I'll do my best to answer. I greatly appreciate the kind word, thank you
Awesome shots!
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate that
Those long exposure shots are great, thanks for sharing your experience 🙂
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate the kind words.
Great stuff, Bill 👏🏻👏🏻 Love those shots with the light house/pier and the second set of long exposures.
Thank you very much. I was really torn between the 4 minute exposure and the 1.3 second. I love those waves, but that ghosting effect too. I greatly appreciate it
Nice 👍
Thank you I really appreciate it
Great photos! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate that
This shot makes the Lighthouse appear to be floating in mid-air! Love it..
Great job, Bill... I really enjoy listening and looking at all your photos and videos. Keep them coming!!
Thank you very much, I'm grateful you enjoy them. That means a lot
Great stuff and great shot, Bill. That shot looking down the dock with either the clouds or the light rays. 👏🏻 Thanks for taking us with you.
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate that. I got overly excited when the light started filtering through the clouds. That is more then I could of asked for
Nice video. Subbed to your channel. Cheers from Norway 👍❄️🙂
I greatly appreciate that, I've watched quite a few of your videos, you have great content. Thank you for the kind comment
Good job! Stay with it!
Thank you very much,
Definitely on the same page with a fellow Hoosier. The fall shot of the tree/water is a better image in my opinion. Indiana woodland landscape photography isn't easy. Keep looking, keep working it, keep up the good work!
I greatly appreciate that. I agree with the fall photo too. Thank you very much for the kind words.
My mother and I used to work with some of the people whose families were displaced when the park was initiated. I've been there many times fishing and hiking, though it's been years. You have to be creative in northern and central Indiana since we don't have mountain vistas or crashing shorelines. Good job, I saw Pototo Creek in a new light.
Potato Creek is definitely a beautiful park, especially in fall. We used to go there quite a bit when I was young, It had been so long since I'd been there, I really didn't have time to explore like I wanted. I plan on going more frequently in different seasons. You are correct too, the few things that Indiana is missing would create some amazing photos, I absolutely love the challenge though. I had no idea the park displaced people though, that's pretty interesting. Thank you very much.
Nice video 🙂👍
Thank you very much, I had more footage, but the audio was unrecoverable. I really appreciate the kind words

Very interesting how you see the details of so many things out there and how they come together to make a great picture. Well done.
I greatly appreciate the kind compliment, thank you very much
Well done Bill, very informative with great pics!
Thank you very much
Great stuff, Bill. 👏🏻👏🏻 Love that first shot. Great for someone’s mantel. Also great to see a fellow Nikon user getting out to get some images. Thanks for taking us with you. Look forward to more videos.
Thank you very much for the kind compliment. Out of the three, the first was definitely my favorite I managed to get that day, too.
Great images and video!
Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate that
Wow beautiful photos! Thank you for explaining how you use the settings to compose the photo that you want. Very interesting to watch. I love the 2nd photo. It's like the woods are sleeping. 😊 most people don't like winter but it is very beautiful.
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate the kind comment. That's a great way of describing the second photo too.
Great video and photos, Bill!! Looking forward to seeing more!
I really appreciate that. Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate the support
Great sequence Bill, really enjoyed waking up to this with a ☕️ in hand. My favorites were the abstract water and ice and that minimal comp with the bushes sticking out of the snow.
Thank you very much, I've really been working on the finer details that make the scene what it is, to a fault I seem to come home with grand scenes and miss great opportunities in the details. I really appreciate the kind compliment
