Just a personal video blog of my life in Cebu. I entertain all well-reasoned and polite comments as long as they are civil. If you don't like what I present as a viewpoint, then don't watch. The one fact I can guarantee is that trolls and negative, unsubstantiated claims will 100% be eliminated, and that user blocked from my page... MY page, MY rules.

Why I think VA Medical Care Gets A Bad Rap (23-1007)
Просмотров 17411 месяцев назад
The VA Medical Centers are constantly maligned by those that use the system. I don't think the reputation is deserved beccause I've ALWAYS received better care there than from private doctors and hospitals. The VA doesn't treat their medical providers as "profit centers" and therefore the VA medical staffs, doctors, and specialists are able to spend more quality time with each patient.
She is 28 matured enough .. i hope & pray, she will return your love for her with honest love like other matured pinay woman. Love her good but never spoil. Let her learn from you good things how to value life. Do not bring electronics. Sell your excess baggage instead bringing will only cost so much. Time deposit your money quarterly period. Make sure just give her budget monthly teach her that buy only what needed and save. Health is wealth so you both take good care of yourselves.
What’s your realistic monthly budget?
@josephbeans3542 - Realistically? A minimum of $2000 to $2500, but a lot also depends on your spending habits
those packing cubes work great in backpacks. I packed a 1/3 month's worth of clothes (about 10 shirts. pants, socks, underwea)r in half the backpack
@@t-and-d-productions vacuum bags work as well. Still wouldn't bring a lot of clothing, though.
WTF is every tom, dick and harry starting a youtube channel and heading to the Philippines.
Of all ages.
Just don't forget to bring that pension😂
@desipage9862 Yep. Guys like you will be spending a lot of it at the bars, buying drinks for the bar girls and ladyboys, then will whine about Filippinas being "gold-diggers." 🤣 If you even make it out of your country, that is. Most goobers that say stupid things like this have rarely ventured far from their home town. Suggest you stay there.
Get a hep B shot. Take 10k at least in cash. Get as fit as you can and buy a heap of hard on pills. Thats all you need to know.
You'll end up being one of those bitching about how 'all Filippinas are scammers and gold-diggers.' If you ever come out, that is. My advice? Stay wherever it is you live.
If a person wishes to bring more that the equivalent of USD 10,000, a written declaration must be made in the form of the BSP’s “Foreign Currency and Other FX-Denominated Bearer Monetary Instruments Declaration Form” which may be downloaded from www.bsp.gov.ph/regulations/regulations.asp?type=1&id=631. But to avoid complications, just stay within the limit.
What can one expect with regards to prescription drugs being brought along. Can I take a 90 supply? And do they freak out about pain medication?
@bucknaykid4236 From what I've seen, not as long as it's in the prescription bottle, though I didn't bring narcotics. 90 day supply might be iffy, depending on the drug. Look at the immigration website for better info. Or email them directly with specifics.
Incel advice.
As a wealthy expat. Rule #1. Shave off facial hair. All Filipinas hate it. They like clean shaven. Guys with beards mustache = ugly girlfriends. You’re welcome.
A very nice video sharing of another subject, and advises regarding "WHAT TO DO BEFORE COMING TO THE PHILIPPINES.". Interesting indeed! Full support & Best of luck po/Ned👍👏👍
My wife is going to Philippines ahead of me. She is a Philippine citizen. Can we still apply for Balikbayan visa after I arrive?
@MikeinKilim Unfortunately, that I don't know much about, and I won't be like those on Facebook and pretend to know. Send an email to the Philippine Bureau of Immigration with your question and you should get an answer within 48 hours. You can also contact JRC Visa Consultancy on Facebook and they might be able to answer that. There are a dozen RUclips videos about that subject as well, done either by lawyers or visa consultants. Type in "Philippine spousal visa" into the search and look for the latest info.
Hi Jack. I've enjoyed your videos. You are the first expat that I have seen advocating flying Biz or Premium... and also using words like "will, trust, medical directive" etc. There is a hole in the youtube expat market (for the Philippines anyway...) with regard to guys interested in visiting, whom are not looking for the absolute cheapest way to do everything. I would recommend that you do a bio video explaining (generally, not specifically) the line of work that you were in, what led you to the Phils, and the hoops that you had to jump through (if any) to arrive at financial independence. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that you are not in the retire at 62, head to the Phils with $1,500 per month SS, nothing in savings/investments camp. take care. -Dave in Cincinnati. p.s. If you make a bio video, I would suggest being super vague, while still giving enough background info to make people "buy into" your story and channel.
@TheInvisibleAmericanMan Good idea! I'm actually 70 and spent a good chunk of change both checking out and then moving to the Philippines. I'm not "poor, " but I'm not wealthy either (divorce took a lot of my reserves). In general, there are two types of expat out here: The "Look at me, I'm a wealthy Westerner" type that thinks their wealth can "buy" the loyalty of a Filippina. They hang out in all the wrong places (bars, night clubs) expecting to meet a "hot, young thing who is kind and loyal. They fail and are usually the type that later complains, "All Filippinas are gold-diggers and scammers!" Then there are the patient, quieter types that, regardless of their financial status, live a more frugal life, minglenwith the natives, learn some of the language and/or customs, and try their best to fit in. They only go out a couple times each month (usually to anlocal festival, rarely to a bar), buy and eat food made by locals, and have only a few really close friends. I'm in this group.
Hi Jack. Great 👍 video with great advice and information on getting to the Philippines. "I'm taking notes". Thanks and keep up the great work.

@@JacktheCyberspaceCowboy Thanks 👍 Jack, I will. Take care.
Do a bank transfer. There is no need to bring cash. I transferred USD800,000, no problem, to a foreign currency account with BNP.
Why would you send 800k $US to the phils??
@@peteranderson2130 It is in a secure bank, garners decent interest and is easily accessible without having to deal with bank transfer fees. I live here so why would I have my money in an overseas bank?
@peteranderson2130 - He's either full of shit, on business here, or is extremely stupid for advertising it, thinking immigration doesn't monitor videos like this
@@peteranderson2130 To buy property, land and establish a decent life for my family and me.

I enjoyed your video. I had to laugh because when it comes to Tampo, I also, don't handle that well. I would give some space and if it continued for too long, then I need to find myself elsewhere, permanently!

One thing I have to disagree with. Longest flight ever took was 3 1/2 hours but I used Eva Airlines economy 15 1/2 hours to Taipei Taiwan four meals military Precision of the flight attendants I was totally relaxed how the hell did I do it I don't know but I loved it
@jimbohi3648 - I also flew EVA Air and I was impressed. Made the mistake of flying Delta the second time and the last leg was on a Korean Cattle Call airline called Jing, even though I paid for Economy Plus. In the future, I will fly either E+ with EVA, Singapore Air, or Cathay to avoid that situation. US Domestic Airlines just can't compete anymore.
Great video dude I'm getting married in Tacloban I am not a well-heeled individual I just do what God says go I go
@jimbohi3648 Congratulations! Leyte girls are the best Province Girls! Just remember that the first few years will either cement the trust you've both built or will reveal the faults. Make sure she knows that, as the old song goes, "I Only Have Eyes... For You!" Do that and you will have a very happy marriage.
When I hear Hippie I think. Weed, I know its illegal there. Do you think that law is going to change there in the next 10 years? I use it for my RA, PTSD. I don't ever use Alcohal.
@jmaction - it is very illegal here and they are very strict about it. The nickname has more to do with my hair than anything. Nor do I see it changing any time soon.
Maybe you old dude, you should bring some ethics and integrity. Robbing the youth of these women is reprehensible.
Women don’t get with a guy unless he can help raise her status. Don’t fool yourself.
And how is that different from anywhere else, other than here, I can get the life-partner I want?
She looks older so you guys look normal.
Thank you.
You'll need a bunch of spending money in small denominations. Philippines Pisos.
Just don't bring in more than ₱50,000 (about $850) in Philippine currency, and no more than the equivalent of $10,000 USD. You need to declare the latter. More than the former will get confiscated and/or you won't be allowed in the country. They are really strict about money laundering here.
I enjoyed your first few videos. You bring a little different perspective. Believe me, I've watched all those vlogger's. I look forward to anything else you would like to share. Good luck and bless you both!
Thank you for those encouraging words. I, too, watch (and have met) many of those vloggers and I am actively seeking a different course from interviewing one another.
I'm Brazilian and I have a tip for those who aren't from a tropical country, buy clothes that have technology, I don't know if they sell there but they've been selling them here for a while, with UV protection, that are breathable, don't get wet, they evaporate the liquid and also it doesn't pick up odors or wrinkle, you can buy UV sleeves normally used for riding a motorbike, apply a higher grade sunscreen, preferably one that doesn't stick, it has a spray and if you are in areas with mosquitoes use a repellent, there is an ultra sonic repellent on bracelet. Protect your head if you're going to be out in the sun for a long time, wear a hat and don't forget the back of your neck. I don't know how it works in the Philippines but here there is SUS, a single health system, it is public, some cities are great, others are not, it depends on where you live and where you have medicines where there is a popular pharmacy, there will be cheap medicines, generics too which are unbranded but with the Same formula, Brazil doesn't sign patents on medicines, so for example diabetes which I know has a high cost, here it's cheap but the government provides medicines that you need to use for life. Of course, it has an evaluation but it does provide it. health plan here covers great locations, medical service here is much better and cheaper, dentist, medicine has public and private, in the 60s they put dentists in place, it helps a lot in health prevention, as well as preventive exams avoiding expenses.
@walterdearrudafortesjuni-wp5oh Thank you! Great advice and I agree with all you said. Buy the clothing HERE. It's made for the climate.
You're 69? Wow. I hope I look that good at almost 70 💪
Thank you so much. I'm a firm believer in the adage, "You're as old as you feel!" Some days, I feel 30, other days, 90! LOL
You only need to bring Loads of money an ATM card or a massive pension to survive here!
A lot of that depends on the lifestyle you're going to pursue here. If you're going to live "like you've never left the [Western country you're from], then yes, bring a lot of money and a large pension. Buying imported goods (and all Western goods normally available in the grocery store are imported) will put a big dent in your budget. Buying local goods will reduce that cost. The key word is "BUDGET." If you don't put one in place and adhere to it, then yes, you're going to need a lot of money.

One major concern Was keeping my American Bank open because nowadays you need the two point verification. I watched another video earlier that said you can open up a magicJack and Google voice so that your bank doesn’t close your account living abroad.
Thank you, Jack.A lot of us are not pulling the trigger because we have more than one concern. I didn't realize we can get Filipino pesos here in America. That was a big concern for me upon arrival.Cause I know cash is King
Exchange rates will vary by bank and will be somewhere between 0.1 to 0.2% of the total, along with a flat charge. Talk to your banker about the costs. It may benefit you to "shop banks" for the best rate. That said, you may also want to buy some items to "hide" the money from hotel staff. I got three from Amazon; one that was a hollow brush, another that was a fake lint roller, and a third that was a shaving cream can. Lastly, make a budget and stick to it! It's just far too easy to spend, spend, spend here because "everything's so cheap!" Keep in mind that having a monthly fixed income of, let's say, hypothetically, $2000 does not translate into that amount here. There is the exchange rate vs the bank rate, then the transfer fee. Set up a Remitly, Western Union, or Wise account to transfer cash. If you have an investment account, change it to Schwab or Fidelity and see if you can get a debit card for it. I won't go into it because there are over 100 videos I've watched on the subject.
Hey Jack and Sheila just found your channel I’m just over 40 days out from landing in Cebu and living in Mactan , Personally I would say you need a minimum of $1500 reoccurring income flowing in each month and you need 40-50k back up or emergency money readily available , too many videos say 600 or 800 and yes it can be done on that as long as nothing goes wrong but they day something goes wrong 600 dollars isn’t going to cut it !
@@tonymonument4658 - Very true. I'm looking into health insurance here.
One thing you will really need is a small fan ..but get one of those fan you put ice in to make cold air .you are going to need a Adapter too..these fans are small and cost about $25 ...
@Hoochie243 - I'm wondering when ceiling fans ceased to be popular here.

How hard is it to find a girl that you think you wish to date to hire her as a live-in maid without benefits so you have time for each other to get to know each other a real question ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊C.S.A.BABY
Oh, very easy in the Provinces. In the cities? Not so much. The cities are home to a growing middle class of Filippinos that have good jobs, homes, transportation, and disposable income. Most likely, it will be an older (30+) single mom that you'll get.
