Episode 7: Jon Davies
"I hope we'll see a change in the outcome for renovation work which has energy modelling and predicted energy demand for that building - for any building - in play during the design process; and then just put some minimums around that."
In this podcast, Jon discusses his transition from teaching to the building industry where tangible results were more easily visible. He talks about a home renovation project, emphasizing the importance of creating a comfortable living environment by addressing common issues like drafts and poor insulation. Jon describes his Masters thesis - the use of Parka Wrap - retrofitting insulation onto existing walls - designed to improve airtightness and contribute...

Can it be used on EPS ICF homes? Is the sticky stuff solvent free and waterbased? Is it suitable for sub-grade use and do you need a primer before sticking it on? It only has a 10year warranty (which is good), BUT an ICF house can easily last 100+ years if built right, so should this product still be considered? Maybe a rubber type membrane would be better to use, not sure? Sorry, i have a lot of questions...

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Yes, SOLITEX EXTASANA ADHERO can be used on ICF houses. The adhesive is a solid acrylic with no solvents. It is only suitable for above grade use. It does not generally need a primer unless the substrate is very uneven and porous. This product complies with the 50 year durability clause in B2. The Pro Clima 10 year warranty offers over and above what most product manufacturers do. More can be read here : proclima.com/service/system-warranty

@@proclimanewzealand5760 Thanks for your reply. Can the standard Solitex Extasana (not Adhero) work for sub-grade? I'm trying to find a company that can supply everything I need rather than mix and match products which voids warranties. My ICF home has some walls that are sub-grade and the rest above-grade.
