Do you ever fertilize the ground you cut for hay?
So down here in KY where I live now they spring apply anhydrous but I was always told anhydrous kills soil biology albeit temporarily and can make the ground harder? I’m not familiar with it I’m from out west where we have the ability to fertigate through the pivot all our N as 32%
Just found your videos and your the most meticulous and informative farmer on you tube I love how you really push the fertility on both corn and beans
poooorest videoooooooo
I know someone who has a Trion 750 on a Vario 770 and a John Deere T660 on a 725X. Both great machines had the Trion working at 7 kph in wheat, 4.3 mph for ye Americans, which is very good since in Europe we have have higher density crops, we get the Trion 720, 730 and 750 over in Europe. The 720 and 730 are the single rotor hybrids and the 750 is a 2 rotor hybrid.
In theory, can you pull Planter in back and seed?
Now I know how to mount my Kinze markers I bought at a a auction Kallstrom Sweet Corn
Curious how you like the wavy coulter on front of your row units instead of the flat coulter that comes from factory? Makes sense to me to have a wavy coulter in front to shatter the ground ahead of a shank or in your case coulter blades. Also wondering what size the front coulter blades are, look smaller than the factory 25 inch flat coulters. Thanks!
Might I ask what size deere are you comparing it to? I have a 680 and wanting to go to a Trion.
Okay
Next time you are shopping for fert, look at incorporating a carbon source in your dry blend. Fastest way to build soil health and quick yield responses
We’ve used an Unverferth zone builder for 12 years, hopefully buying a Gladiator this month. Nice job with the video!
Thank you!
can you do a Tour of your farm please???
Deere auto steer pro700 for fold and vacs and precision 20/20 to control meters and downforce?
Yes sir. Also controlled liquid through the Deere
@@clobenstine like the deere planter better? Been going back and forth between 1770 ccs or 2150 for next planter run deere gps
@@zachkumm9276 they both are great planters but I definitely like the deere technology better. Everything running through 1 simple system. Also, the exactemerge brush spaces more accurately than the speedtube, especially in soybeans.
How do you like Midwest seed ? Thinking of trying some what hybrid ?
It wasn't bad, but I haven't planted any again. Good corn, not great corn.
If it's got more capacity in corn would it not do just as good in soybeans? You crop is getting smaller and corn has the highest bushels per acre.
In corn you are only pulling in the ears and you typically have a smaller size header, whereas in soybeans your are pulling in the entire plant. The amount of bushels running through is the not issue, as the separating and cleaning capacity is more than sufficient. The Claas has a different threshing design than a Deere, which is more conducive for corn but not quite as effective in soybeans.
Those strips look awesome
Thank you! Those coulter shanks I bought from you work very well.
Can you provide some detail on your rolling baskets or where you sourced them? I have a gladiator with the loose chain style rolling baskets and I have never seen the solid bar style like yours on a gladiator. Thanks.
I had the chain baskets as well. I took the chains off, cut the tabs off the edges of the baskets, bent some half inch rod and welded it in the grooves where the chains would normally go.
@@clobenstine Thanks! has that worked well for you? It seems like a great idea.
@@DIYFarmstead yes, works great especially if you have wet conditions. Plus it eliminates the need to replace chains.
Awesome video love the explanation that you gave very interesting indeed. Love your channel and keep them videos coming and stay safe my friend 😎🌞👍
Thank you!
Hello Interested to know how you converted your Krause to a coulter unit?
I found a guy on ag talk who is making coulter shanks for gladiators. Maybe try to search for them in the classifieds on ag talk.
@@clobenstine THANK YOU
So how do you guys inject the anhydrous ammonia into the soil along with the dry fertiliser?
They both drop down individual tubes about 8in deap into the soil.
Our neighbors demoed a Trion with a 40ft head in 70-75 bushel beans running 4.2-4.5mph consistently.
It's all depends on the situation. The beans we were harvesting were very healthy, with a lot of green stems. Also, we harvest soybeans for seed production, and our goal is to minimize splits, as a result, I have to run the threshing system less aggressively. Considering all those factors, the Deere machine can do a little better overall job.
Would this be a class 6? I think class 7 is as small as they make in the other series...could be wrong. Don't know a whole lot about Lexion.
Ahhh...you don't say! 😆
They have the claas Trion which is the 720, 730 and 750 in Europe and the 740 in America. And the Lexion which is the 5300-6900 walker range and they 7400-8900 2 Rotor Hybrid Range. The machine in the video is a Trion 740.
I am really glad this showed up on my feed. I grow short season varieties of both corn and beans. We’re regenerative organic no till cover croppers, as well as double croppers, with small grains and edible beans in the mix. I need the time for cover crops to do their thing. What we do just can’t work with long season varieties. We’re getting very respectable yields. I wouldn’t do it any other way.
Yeah, it's tricky to make work. I've tried and failed many things, but I think we're finally in a system that works for us
Hello. I enjoyed watching your video alot. I am a new subscriber. I live on a farm by Reward Saskatchewan Canada. I farm with my second brother.
Awesome, thanks for the comment!
That is pretty neat!
How much moisture have you gotten this year and what is normal for you?
Roughly 15in, 25-30in is normal.
Do you think the air system on the head was taking the extra power you felt you didn’t have?
Looking back, I think we were running the APS separator too slow in very tough beans. The Claas specialists were trying to showcase the grain quality and sacrificed a little too much capacity while setting the combine.
Are you in Wisconsin?
Yes
Wow you work fast!
Wow so much great information!
Love the pups
Hello. What dry fertilizers used in the belt and at what dose?
Wow what great content!!!
Hello. discs are better for you than bars? because?. Thank you.
In the spring we can go shallower with discs and not bring up cool wet soil like we would with shanks.
@@clobenstine This is my first year with strip Till. It has not worked well. Corn has less growth than traditional tillage. I have used STRIP cat 2 with stem, a pass before planting.... What is your advice.?. Thanks a lot.
@@lorenzomendozaalos1365 Fall or spring strip till? I just try to get a nice smooth black strip and plant right over top of it. It's also important to have a good blend of fertility in the strip
@@clobenstine The strip is made in spring only 2 days before planting. Fertilization of the whole field I still haven't used only in the band. But the corn grows faster with traditional tillage, I do not know why .....
@@lorenzomendozaalos1365 the corn grows faster in the traditional tillage because you are incorporating the fertilizer so it is in the root zone, whereas in your strip till the fertilizer is laying on the surface and the corn cannot use it because it is not in the root zone. If you band the fertilizer directly in your strip, that should make a big difference.
Thank you for taking the time to take us along! We are in the process of ordering a planter just like yours and are seeking information that you just shared! so your video was greatly appreciated by us!!! Keep up the good work and wish you great success with this cropping season!!! Great video!!!
No problem!
Very nice setup. The video caught my eye because we also pull a Case planter with a JD tractor. 16 row 1250 behind an 8310. Very happy with the planter, they are tough to beat. I notice you have extra weight added to the wings. Is that helping keep the bar more level? I've noticed on ours that the wings don't seem completely level even if the ground is flat. The wings seem to pitch up a little bit.
Thanks, it's a good planter. Yes that's why I added the weight..
@@clobenstine does it help quite a bit? The wings seem pretty level in the video. I like the idea, might have to copy it! Did you fabricate your own mounting bracket for the weights?
You don't warm it up first?

That a 25’ head? Think it could handle a 35’?
It could handle a 35ft draper no problem.
We run a 765c with a 41ft case ih cultivator
Im thinking of buying a MT765c...so it pulls the 41ft pretty well? Do you disc with it also , if so how big of a disc?
No No yes it can disk we pull a 26 foot disc but that mainly is used on a smaller tractor. The 765c can run probably up to a 32 foot disc.
@@c_games5665 Sounds good ! What size belt do you run 25"? Ive heard that road miles can be hard on the tread , I have a field 18 miles away would that be a lot to drive over pavement with do you think?
Around 6mph depending on conditions.
Soybeans or corn being planted?

Nothing better than those early mornings and late nights!
How did you make rye strips? Broadcast then strip till?
Twin row drill is what I use. Otherwise a 7.5in drill and block off a couple rows 30in apart.

clobenstine pretty cool do you terminate then with the corn herbicide or does it hang around?
