In 2025’s Earliest Days
An impromptu reading to start off the year.
I wasn’t planning on doing this, but the post holiday blues started kicking in at the end of the Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert broadcast last night.
I could feel the “oh, no” moment when the end credits finished.
The sense of gloom built up all day. I didn’t want to go to work this morning. But the world keeps turning on its axis after all.
I kept flashing back to 2024.
The good moments kept coming up. It wasn’t such a transitory year in comparison to 2023.
How am I going to have a good 2025?
Then, I felt resentment over scrolling all New Year’s Eve. I was envious of all the celebration.
I’ve been so wrapped up in the year in review that...

The Keepers of Christmas
Просмотров 1414 дней назад
The poem being read here is “The Keepers of Christmas” by the poet and writer Beth Kempton. She read it as part of the trailer to her Calm Christmas podcast. I came across it back in November and knew it would be perfect for this time of year. The poem filled me with a sense of warmth that i couldn’t convey as hard as i could try to do. I will be taking a holiday break after this is posted and ...
I’m A Hesitator
Просмотров 621 день назад
This poem came together on Monday morning. I was listening to the Mel Robbins podcast and she had Logan Ury on as her guest. As they were discussing “The Only Dating Advice You’ll Ever Need”, the topic turned to relationship styles. The moment that “The Hesitator” came up, I froze. At the end of the episode, I opened the notes app and began to write. As one does at 4AM. I couldn’t stop coming b...
A Rainy Night In FinDec
Просмотров 2Месяц назад
This week’s poem is an impromptu write. I was coming home from work on November 21st. After six weeks of dry weather, the skies opened up. A night where you couldn’t see 1 World Trade Center rising up in the sky. With the rain in the air, the song “Rainy Night In Soho” by The Pogues came to mind. In the time that it took me to commute home to Queens, the poem was written. Everything is poetry. ...
Happy Thanksgiving!
Просмотров 29Месяц назад
It’s Thanksgiving Day here in rainy New York City. I hope that you, no matter where you are in this world or what you’re doing have a wonderful day today. I know this day is a difficult one to celebrate for various reasons. I wanted to extend this message of gratitude. For everyone in my life, all that I’ve done this year and the fact that I’m still here walking on my own two feet as another ye...
If I Could Read Minds, I’d Start With My Own…
Просмотров 3Месяц назад
This week’s poem is based on a prompt by the poet Prudence Brooks. “If I could read minds, I’d start with my own.” My mind is a pendulum, swinging back and forth between positivity and negativity. Sometimes the swings happen so fast, i don’t realize it until after they’ve happened. Yet, i hold onto the belief that things aren’t so difficult. There’s going to be good times along the way too. It’...
Only In Spain…
Просмотров 7Месяц назад
This poem is based on the prompt by the poet Lyla Shields. To pick out a fun book title and use it as inspiration. I chose the memoir “Only In Spain…” by Nellie Bennett as a source of inspiration. And why wouldn’t I?! Spain is a place very much close to my heart. The reason for picking this poem for this week is no accident, as it’ll be nine years since the first time that I set foot on the Ibe...
O Brave New World

This is an impromptu poem. I came up with it after I had a moment of negativity this morning. My colleague came up to my cubicle to say good morning. All I could say was “is it really?!”. I looked back on the event with disgust in myself. It was a visceral reaction to the events of Election Day. I was in the middle of a spiral that began on the last night in Croatia weeks ago. I felt so bad tha...
Halloween
Просмотров 142 месяца назад
A change of pace for this week’s video. The poem that I’m reading comes from the poet Arthur Peterson and it’s called appropriately enough, “Halloween”. The poem depicts a person that fully believes in the supernatural and the search to find it on Halloween night. The poem: Out I went into the meadow, Where the moon was shining brightly, And the oak-tree’s lengthening shadows On the sloping swa...
The Heart of Hrvatska
Просмотров 22 месяца назад
The poem began it's life after I took a glance at the heart-shaped ornament on my desk. It's a licitar. Licitars are ornamental gifts from Croatia and Slovenia, often given at celebrations of love. In this case, looking at it takes me back to the end of my recent trip to Croatia. On the last day of the trip, our tour guide Nikoleta gave all thirty-eight of us in the group a licitar. It's as if ...
Island Time
Просмотров 222 месяца назад
This poem was written during my recent trip to Croatia. It was last Thursday morning and I was staying at the Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort on the island of Hvar. As there was a bit of time to kill before our group’s bus departed for Dubrovnik, I sat down outside at the patio past the bar and reception desk. I wrote down the words “island time” and everything else followed. A moment to catch m...
Yearning To Fly

This week’s poem comes from my first poetry book, “A Poetic Journey, Staying At Home”. Back in 2020, I had a trip to Italy planned for the fall. But the trip was put on hold due to the pandemic. Yet, it felt like something died inside of me to do so. I missed the sense of routine that came with traveling. As I stared longingly at the carry on suitcase in the closet. It would be two years before...
My Inner Self Is Striving To Get Free…
Просмотров 53 месяца назад
This poem is based on a prompt by D.E. Fritzke. My inner self is striving to be free but it just so happens, it gets trapped by indecision. I know, it’s a lengthy prompt. But if brought out a inner conflict in the process. It feels like there’s two sides of me. The inner side is the dreamer and radical optimist. While the me on the surface tends to be more pragmatic. To keep the impulses at bay...
Elegy For The Weekend

This poem is based on the prompt: “Elegy For The Weekend” by Lois Rose Sterling. Despite the fact that I tend to do a lot, most of the time I’m spending the weekends scrolling and/or writing. In between sleeping, watching tv and eating. I’m not proud of the fact that I don’t have things planned most weekends. After a long week behind the computer screens I just want to crash. On occasion, I get...
