John Sebastian and Steve Boone reunited for a one off set at The Bitter End Cafe in NYC on July 16, 2018. They were there to celebrate and pay tribute to legendary Night Owl Cafe's owner, Joe Marra on his 85th birthday. Joe gave the Spoonful their first break at his club in the West Village in the early 60's.

This song always makes me sad and happy, l met a girl and she would sing this at the karaoke bar, and so beautiful, we dated but things happened, she had to make a choice, and I thought I could accept it, but I didn't and we parted. Amazing video - love Tom and Michael's voices together. Saw Tom in Hugh's Room about 10 years and then joined the Cowboy Train from Vancouver to Toronto 2005 perhaps. Trip of a life time.!!

I've always loved this song, but I didn't realize it was in support of the civil rights movement til I read listeners' comments here. Thank you all for the comments! Now That I know the history I love the song even more and will learn to sing it. May justice- loving song writers rise up again in these troubled days when so many cry out for justice and the need for activist courage is great.
