Advice was to be out of range of enemy brawlers. At 4:40 you use your teammates to take the attention of enemies so you can hit. But considering your teammates are a brock and thrower would they not also prefer someone to hide behind? You also aren't really playing objective just going for kills. Once you go up against a good gene, mortis, edgar, meg, jessie, etc that actively focuses on the gems the idea of let me stay back and never die is what will make you lose matches in modes like gem grab and hot zone. Or am I mistaken?
For instance in brawl ball marksman's are never picked because their kit does nothing to help move the ball forward or get scoring opportunities. The only thing they can do is potentially team wipe.
the answer to that is that the gem game is just an example to explain that concept. Just a basic principle that can change once you got the grasp of those brawlers! Thank you for your comments, I think this is too basic for you!

As a masters, you often need to keep lanes, meaning you won't have someone to hide behind. So.... you just hide behind something lol. Usually, sniper v sniper match ups are almost always just poking and hiding bc almost everyone has great movement and aim at that point (except for legend 1 randoms). The goal is to just gradually get map control and work yourself over the field, because even dying once is huge.
