Depends of the religion… Catholicism (Christianity) before all the denominational and non-denominational schisms of Protestantism promoted going to the Father for all things, and even the saints and Mary that Protestants demonize out of the original bias to make their religion distinctly separate from Catholicism, also lead and encourage us through their inspirational stories, legends, and histories to draw closer to Christ. The gospel,church authority and traditions (religion as you call it), and faith are all integral to leading a Christlike walk. The gospel is not a divination book that can be interpreted and fully understood without guidance, study, and prayer. Scripture alone is not enough, faith alone is not enough as it can be corrupted by skewed intuitions and conceptualizations of morality. Every non denominational church, unfortunately, is its own unbridled, insular denomination… look into church history and begin an incredible journey into the wealth and fulfillment of Christianity.
