Steve Barton - Endless Appetite (Confessions of a Vampire)
Oh my God…
von krollok mit gefühl
One day they gotta bring a faithful adaptation to Broadway or in full English. But sadly we will never have a full Barton English ost.
Super.
Is this a rip off of Total Eclipse of the Heart?
It uses the same melody at the end and shares a similar tone. Hardly a ripoff since it was originally written for-and included-in this show.
@@LadyTygryComics Ah, I see. I never saw this show. Thanks for clarifying!!
@@ElleCee62978 The show that went to Broadway is. . . not popular. Michael Crawford made a lot of creative decisions that sort of put a nail in the coffin of the show's success.
@@LadyTygryComics I just looked up what you said. Yeah, Michael destroyed it.
Same writer, Jim Steinman, but Bonnie Tyler recorded it decades before Steinman's Opera @@ElleCee62978
Haunting, and especially sad that both of them were suicides.
We are so fortunate to have a recording of Steve singing these songs.
Honored to have met Steve and been in a band with his prodigy son Eddie
This may sound weird, but I have a deal with God--if I dream about someone, I pray for them. I dreamed about Steve (I went to school with him many years ago) and I know he's now past prayer. However, I was impressed to pray for Edward. Do you know if he's okay? I certainly hope so. If you have any info about a prayer need he may have, I'd appreciate knowing about it. Don't worry. I'm not weird, and I don't intend to contact him in any way. I just want to know if I can pray for him specifically. By the way, I'm not surprised that Edward is a prodigy--his daddy was wonderful!!
"and when no hope was left in sight on that starry starry night, you took your life as lovers often do, but I could have told you, the world was never meant for one as beautiful as you" breaks my heart to think that he sang this - and then took his own life later
who is the female singer?
Elaine Caswell. C'est elle qui avait enregistré la première version de it's all coming back to me now par exemple.
I went to school with Steve Barton at C.O. Wilson Junior High School in Nederland, Texas. He was a kind, generous boy, and a great talent even then. I loved him. I'm so sorry he suffered in his last days.
You must be so lucky to go to school with Steve Barton
@@giovannaveteri5257 Yes, Giovanna, I knew I was lucky then, and I feel very blessed now. He was very special even then. i loved Steve very much because he was kind to me when others were not. He was full of fun, and he was a nice boy.
@@karenwhite1718 I wish I knew Steve
@@giovannaveteri5257 You would have been blessed to have known the boy I knew. He was a lot of fun. I loved him.

Die Ewigkeit beginnt heut' Nacht! Danke Steve Barton, Tanz der Vampire, 1998 Wien :-) Ich war dabei!!!
The OG Von Krolok. Steve was exceptional in the role. I am sad he never got to play the role on Broadway. Perhaps that was a bullet dodged though as it flopped on Broadway.😂
It only flopped because Crawford forced a bunch of script changes because he wanted to play a fun character in a comedy who wasn't a brooding monster looking for love, again.
If it was this version with the Steve, it might’ve played for longer but Jim Steinman was rarely praised by the critics, despite his incredible talent.
What a waste of pure talent.
BEST one! ONLY one....
Ein unbeschreibliches Talent und ein wunderbarer Mensch!!
Nobody on earth is able to sing this song better!!!!
Today Steve would turn 69 😢
It's so sad that such a talented man, a kind and warm human being just went away alone and in silence.
'"Could we start again, please?" Rewind the tape of time, of life, not let him go home alone that night of July... Another sliding door, another street corner... Another morning.
This man was talented, handsome, nice, gentle... How could he end thinking life was not worthwhile anymore? Why no one was able to help him?
Wow! Che interpretazione! ❤❤❤
Revisiting this recording because it deserves revisiting often. Sometimes you feel like something is missing. This heals that.
❤❤❤
So viel Talent. ♥♥♥
Russian version is good too: ruclips.net/video/hddLfVPdRMM/видео.html
If only he had been Krolock on Broadway 😭
He was in germany
@@kevinm761 Really??? he was it here in Vienna - 97-99 I have seen at least 5 x - when was he in Germany?
he died before the Broadway show started
I know this was posted four years ago. However I would absolutely love if you’d consider uploading the lyrics to this masterpiece?
Well alright, no stars tonight The moon must hide can't bear to see my face So many moons have passed So many suns gone down Too much blood under the bridge Too many worlds turned upside down The skies were pure and the fields were green The fading summer, sixteen-seventeen The first time I ever drew blood She was such a beautiful and innocent child She never knew my soul was cursed for good I fought to overcome my thirst I thought I could But when I kissed her lips then I had no control And the furies all ran wild And when I grasped for life I always killed the things for which I yearned I wish to be a flame and reduce to ashes But I have never burned I long to fly in total freedom and yet these chains keep dragging me down I want to be an angel or the devil himself But I am nothing but a creature longing for things I cant have And the split goes through my very soul It´s a wound that never mends Our desires are elusive And the hunger never ends When the world has drawn its final breath And Extinguished all the light There´ll be nothing left But a lifeless wasteland And an endless appetite Nothing left but a soundless heartbeat And a ruthless appetite The preachers daughter let me in her room In seventeen thirty-two, to love me was her doom With her silken blood I wrote a poem of love Upon her ivory skin And the bashful page of Napoleon the Great In eighteen hundred thirteen he stood at the gate When I recall his body I cant help but think To consume him was a sin So many victims washing on the shores an ocean of pure tears So many pleas for mercy, howls of pain Intoxicating fears I used my body just like a bandage I used their bodies just like a wound And Ill never know where they disappeared But I can see them rising up out my memories now Just like the demons rising up from a tomb! And there is no way ever to apologize, repent or make amends No release and no redemption The hunger never ends There are those who believe in science And those who believe in art There are those who believe in power and wealth Or love and matters of the heart There are those who believe in various gods In nations, and knowledge In hell and in heaven The powers of darkness The assumption of the light But I believe in just one god That of endless and insatiable Immoral and destructible And all consuming appetite There is a prediction that I now will make And Im sure it will be right: When the next millennium finally comes The god most worshiped in this world Will be the god of appetite

😢❤️... This world was never ment for one as beautiful as you
This hurts.
I think i like the german version more.
It's 3 am and that bridge just caught me completely off guard and I'm sobbing
4:49am here, but I knew what will hit me.;D
@@n1mand good luck living if you have school tomorrow :)
Steve I love you so much RIP to my Angel of Music and fly high in Heaven❤
Magnificently!!!
Maybe Jim’s best singer/performer.
I challenge anyone to find a voice that has ever lived that matches Steve’s, this man stirs your very soul.
He lived that role - not, that he became it, he WAS it from beginning. Who was the best Joker?(;
The musical is still going strong in Germany, so there is a growing list of singers that has tried to do the role justice over the years. Out of those, lets discount all the tenors ;) Personally, apart from Steve Barton (who also played the count in the German premiere), I think Florian Soyka came pretty close to my definition of "perfect count" (if you don't mind the German language): ruclips.net/video/2FvZWPMUR78/видео.html
Perhaps the single greatest male stage voice of all time. This man’s talent and voice was other worldly, God given indeed because I have never heard another man voice his equal. What a gift Steve Barton was.
Awesome, completly. Greatest voices in this musical, based in Bonnie's song, Total Eclipse of the Heart. Wonderful Event. 👋👋🎶🎶🎶⭐⭐⭐
I thought Thomas Borcher at Vienna was the best of the best ... but this version is incredible
Try the German Version....
That last note where he goes from velvet to volcano and back ......it's godly. Ok that seems to be different here. It's in the German Version though.
And the snare drum sneaking in.....steady and relentless, going on as the years go on for a creature that can't die....
Der hat auch auf deutsch gesungen. Noch geiler!
The best recording of this ever!
Oii
Irreplaceable!
