The bass ate to close to the boat and didn’t have time to net. Risky move but it worked out.

I rotate the jig head weights. When fishing shallow I prefer 3 quarter ounce jig head for deep water I used 2, 1/2 oz with 1 quarter oz.

Fish the weedline out in 20-25 feet by the boat renter with a ned rig(Big TRD). Wacky 6inch Senko around shallow flats.

Try throwing reaction in the morning like a top water bait than transition to a senko when the sun rises. I’ve seen good size bass under the fishing pier left of the boat dock. The lake isn’t that big so I’m sure you can cover the entire lake within a day. Try looking on goggle map some part of the lake don’t have trail access to fish from.

Yes the short leader does limit the action of the glide. On a normal set up the hinkle has a wide glide.

My to go set up for the hudd and 250 is gloomis SWBR955C it’s a older rod. I haven’t had any issue with it after 4 years of fishing it. Gloomis currently makes 966C IMX pro swimbait bait rod that has similar specs 8feet, heavy action, moderate taper, and rated 3-8oz. I have shimano and multiple Phoenix swimbait rod but gloom’s is my favorite. I also paired it up with a tranx 300 spool with seaguar abrazx 25lb. 20lb will snap off the 250 if you backlash. If you’re just throwing the hudd 20lb is enough.

@smell the glove 100% right. I have a couple of Hinkle trout and they don't swim like that. I own just about every big glidebait that's available and the hinkle, both the trout and shad, are the most stable and smoothest gliding glide baits. It's one bait where the hype is legit and they are worth every penny

@@C.Adams82 what line test do you throw the trout with?

@gabrielcorral 20lb. Gama Polyflex or Suffix Advanxe. I use copoly because of the stretch factor. If you get a sudden backlash on the reel the copoly is less likely to snap than with braid or fluro. If I'm fishing it deeper then I will use fluro but always 20lb. I use the lightest line I can get away with. Most anglers use the heaviest they can get away with but I feel the lighter line gets more followers and bites. In my experience it does get more bites and followers

The bait has awesome action. It most likely was the way it was being worked or the camera was messing the action up.

The vortex style swimbait slow down starting April on at Mather. You might want to try Seco instead. Your odds will be better if you're on a boat or kayak you can cover water faster.

I used a waterwolf camera to record the footage. I'm not sure if they're still in business but there's a camera similar name GoFishCam.

Since Covid more people are fishing. Not just here I see it at the river and other lakes. This place hand out a lot of skunk and people will lose interest.
