Those will great on the tabletop!
Those turned out pretty nice. Are you going to do one of these for the Atreides/Fremen too? I recently was given this game for Christmas, so I'm looking for inspiration.
I am; I have a video for the Fremen I’ll try to get out this week. I’ll then release one for the Atreides Court characters soon after. It’s been a busy couple of months, but I’m getting back on track.
Nicee video, In the ship maintenance, the item was "up to five" wasn't it? Also, I think in the crates and stasis pods there should not be human tech, only green tokens, and finally, the tokens with the first born icon on it, I think they are loot for when defeating a true born... anyway, thank you for doing the campaign, I really enjoyed wath8ng your play, keep it up! One more little thing, the ship starts with three fully functional stats, you must first repair until the five dots are full before upgrading the defense or scanner
@@LievX umm, it’s not my video… 🙂
@@Wolf359inc, I know, sorry, I accidentally replied your comment, already fixed that
Thank you for this ONE! Man! Dune....by Cmon! Huge Fan of A Song of Ice and Fire!
So let's get to it!
The medium must flow! Nice to see those Vallejo Space Dust Color Shifting Metallics appear again after our Blade Runner RPG mini painting! You're so right... their behavior on a model is frustratingly impossible to predict. 😵💫 Looking forward to getting Dune: War for Arrakis on the gaming table in all its desert glory. Thanks for the vid!
If only they wouldn’t all come out green. I’ve gone back and triple checked those Gold/Brown and Red/Gold labels -no mention of green! I feel like Vallejo is gaslighting me. I’m starting to paint the peeps now, so I’ll try to keep the videos coming.
We love your background! We love the fanatic paints. We've gone deep into the product and not a single shade has disappointed us. Some of your metal fan blades look like Carbon Fiber from far away.
Your crappy skills make me want to do the same!!! haha.
It’s working!!!
I love the look of these minis, such an interesting mix of solar punk with small bits of technology, thanks for showing your painting tips for these, especially how you choose color palettes
Having just 3d printed a skirmish team of Mummified Undead from One Page Rules, finding this video in my suggestions was rather fortunate. Looks very nice, even though it is very airbrush reliant. Using the different gradients makes these terrain pieces better than just a sandy beige blob. I would asume the same (or other brand, equivalent colors) and more of a drybrush would work just as well.
The brand doesn’t make much difference, just thin to the right consistency, and a brush could achieve the same effect, just may take more time to achieve. If the mummies have a lot of texture, let contrast paint do the heavy lifting -Just always thin it down some try (1:1 water or contrast medium). You just have to paint “within the lines” (be precise). Let me know how they come out!
We love seeing the instant effect of the wash.
It’s the drug that’s hard to quit!
Great result!
Thanks for the video. Now I'm even more excited about ...reconsidering... getting into the new crowdfunding campaign. As a minis painter myself I have to ask: What is this color wheel magical device you are using??? I had never seen that.
Thanks Rob, It’s an artists’ color wheel sold at any store with an art section -even Wal-Mart. It’s good for knowing which colors to mix for certain results, but I mainly use it to find strong color combos that work well together. I may do a separate video and go over it more in depth.
If you mentioned this and I missed it I am sorry……can’t you take stuff and drop it in your ship and then go back out again?
Hello Gary, the answer I believe is no; once a character enters the ship, they are off of the board. That being said, if you have upgraded ship abilities, some require an on-board operator, so they could then control those functions. So you could have a character go planetside just to shuttle loot back to the ship, then they could support the team’s mission from the ship.
@@Thepaintedmini thanks for the response. I was trying to find time to search the rulebook but this answer saves time
Ty for this the written guide was a bit of a bugbear to follow.
Hope it helped; it is a great game once you get going!
Appreciate all the effort you put in. Love the videos
Nice editing and special effects!
Great video, and would love to see more Core Space, but what was up with the sound?
Thank you! More is on the way. As for the sound, I over-gained the mic which is one of the few things that can’t be fixed after the fact. I’m still working out some audio software bugs, and have recorded the next video with a different set-up.
Thanks for showing this deck type
No problem; did you get any of the Alpha decks/cards or are you waiting for the next batch. So far, with my limited play, I’m enjoying it.
@Thepaintedmini next batch. Was gonna run a collection of franks artwork the i heard it was only for aplha and each card is like 70+dollars foil
I Kickstarted the precon decks and 1 box. I guess I’ll sit on the box and maybe get a kid through college 🤔
What great timing! I just pulled out my copy to try and finally learn it- then kept getting smashed in the intro scenario. Came here looking to see if I was really that un-space-traderly-skilled, or if it was mostly just bad luck. (Thinking bad luck…) Great playthrough and great editing! Just a couple things I noticed: 42:00 Cassie’s ammo shot should’ve gone into the hostility track (would’ve pushed up into Aware faster) 49:00 Wade’s special ability in his armor slot lets him go up to five spaces with each move (might’ve zipped him along a little faster) 55:15 I think the enemy’s second action would’ve been to make a ranged attack with Wade directly in his sights And I think the exhaust fire does hurt First Born- they just choose not to go through it. (However, if they’re in the wrong spot at the wrong time… muhuhuhahaa) Looking forward to more!
EDIT: another thing that I just read (official FAQ and errata) should really help us both out in future games- ignore the drones’ two actions and only go through their AI once each round. Therefore they are limited to one move, or one attack, or one move&attack per round.
Good eye! You are right on all 3 counts! I noticed forgetting to spend Cassie's ammo in a rewatch, but I hadn't caught the other two. I will definitely be checking out the FAQ. Thanks for the the assist, I am looking forward to starting a campaign soon.
Another great video, but I did watch all 30 Minutes and 38 Seconds of it and was terribly disappointed to have you ignore the "Be a Goldfish" mug. I'm pretty sure we need a video dedicated to the mug.
There is a video, but it’s on the Patreon Platinum -After Hours tier. I’ll send out the application and the background check.
@@Thepaintedmini Take my money! I'm in.
Would be useful to know what black primer and the first white coat paints you used please.
Yes sorry; the black primer is Vallejo Glossy Black. It is primarily used for prepping for color shift paints. On both Balcor and Hopper, I changed my mind and just covered them over with Citadel Corax White in order to facilitate contrast/speed paints. I've had a terrible time finding good white paints; and I really haven't yet. I think I'm going to go to thick white, acrylic tube paints and give them a try. But thanks for the feedback; I have a section where I show the color shift process --I use it on the First Born, normally my minis are done in 2 or 3 tone zenithal (shown in my first video "hellhounds". I will return to showing all specific paints used as well.
That's a cozy looking paint station.
I only have 1 table in my house; so we either paint or eat. I do have some new, custom painting trays on their way from Dog Might Games; those should be nice.
I didn't know contrast paints could do that. Superb results as always from your miniatures. What brand magnifier do you use and would you recommend it?
Thanks for the compliment! I tend to water down the contrast paints, and often go back over with traditional highlights, but they still save a lot of work up front. The magnifier I use is found under multiple brands (Chinese mega-factory!) It is the 2 led, conventional battery variety. It is great --these eyes are getting old! It has 4-5 lenses, and can be worn without my glasses. It has both a conventional eyeglasses mode or the head-strap mode --for full immersive nerdom! It looks like the newer ones have 4 led lights and a USB rechargeable setup. I picked up mine from Knight Watch Games a while back, but even if they don't have one on hand, they can order it pretty quick.
There are a few rough spots where I had a camera drop out etc. I have solved some of my sync issues, so moving forward, things should be smoother and editing shouldn't take as long! Thanks for your patience and patronage!
2 absolutely (!!!) identical mini maps - WTF??? By the way, the quality of all components is simply terrible
Yeah, I didn’t want to be overly negative, but as good as the components look, the function and materials could have been better. But, with a new company, I’m really impressed with how well their Kickstarter went. We’ve seen a lot of well established companies fold in the past few years.
I found it. One of the mini maps on the “Drenched Lands” side, the small side, has an extra forest tile in the bottom left corner. I believe that is the corrected map. If you look at the other one, it’s missing that forest.
@@Thepaintedmini Oh yes. Now I noticed it too. Thank you
Thank you! I will definitely take a closer look. I will at least need to weight the bases of the cardboard stands somehow; they are very light! If I can't find an acrylic set I'll be searching etsy!
I think the extra mini map was added due to the original mini map missing something. So make sure that you are using the correct mini map when playing. The cardboard standees look ok, but I'm glad I pledged for the Acrylic Standees (loved the Acrylic standees in Vagrantsong, hope they are of similar quality)
Thanks that makes sense! I’m looking forward to getting a game in soon.
Nice shirt! 😃
Bespoke threads! Only the finest handcrafted merch for me!
Are you enjoying the game?
Yes; it’s very chill. “Enjoyable” may be the right word. I think I would look to implement a couple of house rules, but I need to play it a bit more before I start tweaking things.
24:02, Never more relatable. My painted mini's are not anywhere as good as yours, but our process is very similar.
Thanks; hopefully you can blame the kids too when the wife wants to know “how paint got all over the carpet!”
Well after tallying the votes from both the Polls and the Video it looks like Core Space edged out Aliens, Solomon Kane, and Conan (all tied) which collectively beat out Ankh, Sword and Sorcery, and Cthulhu Death May Die (all tied with a single vote). So get motivated, order your Core Space, and prepare to paint and play!

Ankh, definitely Ankh. The Egyptian Gods could be so much more colorful than any of the other games.
Awesome! Congrates on the airbrush techniques. Great results.
Conan, baby!
Are you knee deep in sci-fi these days?
Tough, tough choices! I vote for either of the sci-fi games; though I’m curious what you would discuss for the “historical” angle on the minis.
I see most sci fi as existing on a mirrored timeline, so looking back to our own frontier spaces, port towns and opportunistic bands of rogues may work. What I’ve learned from teaching Shakespeare is that people really don’t change, just our outfits, accents, and modes of transportation. (Insert sound of tap dancing!)
@@Thepaintedmini Fantasy and Sci Fi are just reskins of the current human understanding. It would interesting to hear your take on the inspirations / parallels of the game's content and our modern world. Bonus points if you say "paralellagrams".

Awesome Job. I love the backdrop, the trempo, the tone. I'm really impressed! The information is facinating, alongside the visuals.
Nothing like a little historical context to add even more life to the minis we love to see on the gaming table. Insta-subscribed, mostly because of the cool Texas shirt you're wearing. 😎 Congrats on this inaugural vid! Looking forward to many more.
