Issues in construction with plumbing running through load bearing members yet to be solved.
The issue is: the further the floor waste moves from the doorway, the higher the step will be onto the tiles as the wet area floor cannot be recessed as the joist cantilever. Running a 100mm pipe through floor joists with that cantilever is beyond my ability. It looks right, but the calcs need to be done, or pipe size needs to be determined.
Cutting 100mm sewer pipe from the gulley through cantilevering joists and beams to connect the sewer will be an issue on this project.
The client/Builder should talk with a plumber about the regulations of pipe size or talk with the engineer about cutting or drilling holes through such joists.
Solving issues virtually before they occur on site is the ...

WHY BIM or the process of BIM does not work for residential construction

Here's why many small RESIDENTIAL BUILDERS with a trade background FAIL
Просмотров 452 года назад
In general, builders who come from a trade background build better quality and more organised homes. Why? because builders with physical experience and onsite learning can foresee project-specific problems than builders who are classroom-based. This experience enables trade background builders to allow for associated costs before delivering a price to a client. In saying this many builders who ...

    I am doing 3 and 4 story wood apartment buildings. can you do a series or more in depth review/build of this type of project? My concern is the example I see on your channel, and others, is typically too simple. We have complicated wood stair towers, steel, wood and concrete coming into one corner, 2 hour separations, draft stopping and the like. Much is not standard, but used a lot. I'd be glad to send you a set of plans and we can discuss. As I told you before, we use Sketchup to do a LOD 200 review with Matt D. I just need more intelligence out of the process.

      Hi, Steve thanks for commenting larger projects will be one of the next videos, I have some brilliant examples. The reason we do smaller projects in the tutorials is so the viewer can see a result at the end of each video, however, a large percentage of our clients use PlusSpec for large multi-residential commercial projects. The next video I make I will run through a few large projects so you can get a taste of what other design and construction firms are doing stateside and around the world. The successful implementation of technology in any business comes down to the people implementing the process. We recommend training as it is the most efficient way of getting a building company up to speed quickly.

    • @ScoutyBoyO
      @ScoutyBoyO 4 года назад

      @@andrewdwight5744 I am not suggesting it has to be a large project, but a more complicated detail. For example, we have stair towers that may have landings and they are not all standard. Some projects are made of wood and some of CMU. The detailing on how the landing is built, the measurements, brackets and the run of the stairs is not "out of the box", and important to detail in the computer. Each structural design is different with stud packs, columns or glum lams and the like. From project to project, the breezeways change with overhangs and the like. Yes, there is standard framing too, like 16" or 12" on center for a typical wall, but we may have 8 - 10 different wall types on a building for tenant separation and fire considerations. Once we detail or draw them, how do you archive those in your system? I think they call these families in Revit. Maybe we can get on a call/goto/zoom with Matt D and he can explain it in more detail on our limitations we are reaching with Sketch up proper. Can you import a revit model or a truss model from Mitek? We currently get the mitek model and place the trusses in our sketch up, so I would guess that is not an issue. My edict is "build it before we build it". Our designers are super slow to warm to any form of BIM. Currently our process is like your examples, build in sketch up over the 2d pdf.
