Yes. Being born again is critical. And so is authentic worship.

There is a solid argument to be made that Paul is addressing a problem with female false teachers from the cult of Artemis in Ephesus (where Timothy is pastoring). This fits the text better than the "women can't teach men" absolutist view. Paul uses a few unique words and phrasings here that point to a contrast between "quiet, receptive learning" "in submission" to those with true knowledge of the gospel, and "teaching because I'm a woman" and "usurping authority to dominate with false teaching." The contrast is learning by listening vs. teaching by force. This fits the text, the cultural-historical context, and the myriad examples in scripture (including Luke's description of Paul's ministry in Acts and Paul's own letters).

Reading the Old Testament, we can see where it went off the rails long before Jesus. In context, this sermon is about Jesus being plotted against by Jewish authorities that don’t get the point. Nothing here is meant to imply that is relevant to modern Israel

Yes. Those are the patriarchs. And their job was to pass this on to their children for all generations.

@@paxchristianchurch I have a ton of questions. For example, genesis was written as if he was there. Did God tell him how he created everything? Did they instantly know how to write after eating the fruit or was it taught by God? After Cain was marked where did all the other people come from? Cain says they will kill him but I thought it was only Adam and eve then him and his brother. Also it says that he created heaven and it sounds as if it was on earth at the time, did god move it?.. I guess there not important questions just trying to piece together things that I'm missing.. the only important thing I wish I had an answer to is how do you stop sinning? Or how do you combat sin before thinking or doing so? Do you have any tips or tricks?

We find it highly relevant to today's world. And it wasn't designed to control the masses. While many dictators and tyrants have used religion and anything else they can come up with to exert control, that's not what Christianity is about.
