Patina Paint Job for the Barn Find Suzuki GS450
Definitely going to cheap way here, but it's just a cheap cruiser! Giving this old 1980 Suzuki GS450 a patina (well, more than it already has) to make it look cool...er. Just some cheap rattle can spray paint, and this bike starts to have some personality.

    Is your Prius a 2010-2014 prius? They issued a recall for the inverter on the Hybrid Propulsion System. Recall no 14V053000. You can google that recall number to read more.

    You can get a code reader for under $60 that will read the hybrid codes and give live data on the inverter and battery. The Topdon topscan is one. The topdon requires a phone or tablet. I have reviewed a few scanners on my channel. In the US there is a very good warranty on the inverter. For $25 you can get 2 day access to Toyota manuals so you can see what you are checking.

    I know someone mentioned a code reader. I got one to use on my wife’s car that had a maintenance nag, but didn’t say what maintenance. The day it came in, my car (Prius) wouldn’t start and then started showing the “check hybrid system” error. With the code reader, I immediately determined the 12v battery was too low and what charge it did have drained very quickly. I ran a more in depth check and got an error code having to do with the hybrid system. Searched the internet and if pointed me to a few RUclips videos for an easy fix - the drive battery disconnect wasn’t locked properly. Easy fix. I’m glad I spent the 13.99 or whatever I spent on the reader. I was going to have it towed to the dealer first business day. That would have cost me large multiples of 13.99. Get a reader. With all that going on in your electronics, I couldn’t imagine it not giving you some clues to go on. Good luck. Your problems scare the heck outa me.

      I did get a hybrid system warning with a low 12 volt before. But, my problems were a bit more involved than that- head gasket and water pump(s). It took a few water pumps to get a good one, but it’s been good for a while now.

    Hi, changed water pump on 2018 Toyota Prius 100k mileage. Before changing the pump the car was losing coolant slightly but when I changed the water pump the car is basically losing coolant on daily basis. The car is in use all day long and next day it has to be topped up. Is it because I did not bleed it properly or some other issues? Thanks

    • @LoganDidItYT
      @LoganDidItYT 2 месяца назад

      It could be that it needs bled, but they say these cars are self-bleeding systems. You can try putting it in maintenance mode (how to do this is in a few of my videos), let it run with the coolant cap off and heat all the way on high temp and high fan. Once the thermostat opens, if it wasn’t already open, you’ll see coolant suck down just keep adding coolant slowly. This may take a few fills. But, if you’re losing coolant and you don’t notice and telltale signs of it coming back out of the reservoir cap (this can happen with air pockets/not being bled), then I’d look elsewhere. If you don’t see any spots under your car, I’d check your oil. If it looks milky, that is where it’s going and it’s time for a head gasket.

    • @DARI-FARSI-TRADER
      @DARI-FARSI-TRADER 2 месяца назад

      @@LoganDidItYT no visible leaks and no oil contamination either. However when heater starts inside the car it makes some sounds water flow and maybe air. And when opening the coolant tank cap in the morning it has air pressure. And thanks for quick reply.

    My life for past month! 2013 Prius 3 one owner (me) with 250K miles and ALL same issues as yours. So… NEW head gasket kit, head bolts, timing chain, tensioner, water pump, fuel injectors, NGK plugs, Denso Ignition coils. Head spent week in machine shop for $400 rebuild & looked brand new b4 reinstalling. Thoroughly cleaned filthy intake, EGR & cooler - basically engine looked NEW once done, started and ran better than new with LOTS of power 🎉… except Death Triangle and Check Hybrid Pull Over message came back after a few minutes. Experienced Toyota dealership tech reset all and pronounced success EXCEPT he said AC pump was bad! But I NEVER touched that!! Was working fine before all this and now no AC 🙄. Took car home DEFEATED and now on way home the Death Triangle + Check Hybrid message are back. Also noticed Cruise Control no longer working. Except for those issues the engine still running better than ever and is totally smooth. Wondering if that DC Inverter thing is possible. Am hearing strange “whirring” noise coming from that area. Wouldn’t it be great if the fix was in fact covered under a “magic” warranty? Considering taking it back to dealership for one last check and asking some questions. After all of this, admitting defeat is difficult. The wife is ready for a new TESLA 😮. Even with the lites, they are offering me $3000 trade in as long as it’s running. Would cover everything I put into it with $1500 to spare. Hate giving up but it may be time?

    • @LoganDidItYT
      @LoganDidItYT 3 месяца назад

      The whirring sound seems a lot like it may be another bad water pump: if it’s coming the the passenger side area. Did you have a chance to thoroughly bleed the cooling system (they say they’re self-bleeding… but mine needed a little extra help). That whirring is similar to what your water pump sounds like when it intermittently has water then air pockets- it’s “starving” for liquid in this case. Even if it’s not overheating. You can remove the coolant tank cap, put the car into “maintenance mode” (Google how to do that), and start the car. While it’s running turn the AC off, turn heat temp all the way up and then on high fan too; after that, slowly pour in coolant. It may “burp” in this time and pull coolant down into the system. Keep adding to it until the system won’t take any more and it maintains the level marking on the side of the reservoir. Let it continue to run for about 30 minutes.

    If youre buying any prius over 200,000 miles, it will need new head gasket because of how many times it heats up during each drive. Because of that, the water pump, and many other things connected to coolant system will need to be replaced. If you get the prius cheap enough its worth the maintinanace.

      Barryman, but that wasn’t the “fix”. That was only to clean out any residual junk. This car sat 9 years and we’ve gone through it working down a lot of little and semi-big issues. This is just a clip from the last video.

      @@LoganDidItYT right on. Honestly, I’ve done the same thing… I guess I just assumed that was an attempt to fix it. A SeaFoam repair is right up there with the radiator leak repair fluid 😂😂

    Apologies if it's already been said. The Aisin branded pump uses the same casting for the case as the Toyota branded part then grind off the Toyota logo since they're not allowed to indicate it's an OEM part.

      Yep! You’re right! Internally into the same too, which makes sense since they make them for Toyota!

    I had a sudden loss of power and triangle of death also showed. I was able to coast on hybrid battery for about a mile. Then towed it to a dealer. I was afraid it would be expensive, but they actually fixed it for free. Turns out, most of the hybrid things like inverter, relays, etc - are under some mysterious forever warranty.

      I’m glad it wasn’t more serious! But, I didn’t know they were covered “forever”- that’s awesome.

      @@LoganDidItYTthey're, "covered forever"? That's why I just bought one from a guy who was told by the dealership that it would be $22,000 to fix. I got this sweet 2007 Yota High Hy for $700. Now trying to figure it out. Got it to say, "READY" but immediately the Check Hybrid System light turns back on. I'm thinking it just needs a GOOD new main battery. Nothing to do with the Hybrid stuff at all. What do you think?
