Sewer bass. Use an unweighted line with bread rolled on a hook. In the Murray I catch 70+ cm carp everyday. Make sure you draw it set or they'll break your line.

I like to see what you get up to. You said that you keep missing them. Just wondering if you use circle hooks? Over 50 years I have tried just about everything, now days its circle and I use size 4 and 6 sometimes 2 for carp. BTW have you tried the raspberry licorice bait yet, just wondering, still works in the Murray at Morgan.

Wish we had fresh water in outback SA (300km north of Adelaide). Looks like fun slaying the carps. Never done any fresh water fishing. Only fresh water where I am is in dams, but one dam might be worth a try. Never know. At least I know I can clean up on yabbies while I'm there. (old government owned dam that even has a roof over it)

38 degrees, the snakes are likely be seeking shelter from the sun most likely. They like warmth, not full blown scorching :) Probably wont be moving about too much.

I didn't know we had Redfin Perch in Aus? I grew up in Tassie and now live in SA, never heard of people getting them or anything. They obviously aren't a pest/invasive like the carp? (you said you were throwing it back)

Red fin looks like a perch hear in England, if they get big enough they are eatable. I have fed carp bread slices and when they are competing with others then I catch them with a fly rod using a bunch of white wool on a size 6 hook. Strictly catch and release in the UK so very interesting to think of carp as a pest but if they are competing with native species then keep up the good work, best of luck 👍🇬🇧
