RASJACOBSON ART at Lavender Festival 2022
Wow! It looks like you had a great show. Congratulations
Very wise intelligent woman also❤
I’m 10 years off now and doing GREAT - but still have medical PTSD. Hard to trust traditional doctors, and have turned to functional/integrative docs who are much more comprehensive!
Wise words!
I was on Valium for about a year to help me sleep, they helped but after about a year I just decided to stop and about a week after I stopped I had a grand mal seizure, I dont know if it was directly related to stopping Valium cold turkey, but either way I’ve never took another Valium. Been fine ever since.
I’m so glad you didn’t suffer any lingering problems as a result of that experience. Benzodiazepines should never be abruptly stopped. It’s important to know other drugs in the same class - like Ativan, Klonopin & Xanax are also very powerful & since you’ve already had this experience, it would be recommended to avoid using them.
Thank you for you video! How are you doing now?
As wild as this sounds, living thru the hellish nightmare that is BIND/withdrawal gave me a lot of gifts. I’m 10 years off all medication - and I have rebuilt my life from the bottom up. That has not been easy, but I have deeper, more authentic relationships, am now doing what I love, and I have learned so much about myself along the way. I am a Certified Peer Recovery Advocate and I’ve been offering emotional support and coaching people through psychiatric medication harm since 2017. Hey i was on 2 drugs klonopin and lexapro. Cold turkeyed both 15 months back. Had all the horrible symptoms. Everything s reduced but i have a wiered problem no doctor is able to diagnose. I have weakness numbness pain in my left hand and left leg that doesnt seem to to away. I spoke to hundereds ppl online no one in withdrawal have these symptoms also all my tests mri s are normal. I want answers as am feeling hopeless wanting to end myself lik this😢
Absolutely this is a thing. I don’t have answers as to a physical reason why - but (and I don’t know if you are open to this, but there are spiritual answers. Take a look & see if this resonates. There are spiritual aspects of this journey that you may not yet have explored. spirituallearners.com/spiritual-meaning-of-left-hand-pain/
@@RASJACOBSON this is so interesting. I am a hindu from Asia n yes this is pretty true. But then I am shocked that ur such a spiritual person specially from the part of world u come from?? May I ask u what profession r u into?? At times frankly I feel most of the symptoms in benzo withdrawal are mind created. I feel our mind tricks us into creating pains n emotions. This is s tricky subject that is killing me currently.
@@neetujogi8087 This is a difficult topic to discuss via text - but I have obviously been on my own journey & have come to understand that psych drugs interrupt our connection to our intuition. I’m on Xanax. Very very hard to get off of.
I'm on alprazolam for eight Monte, a 1 mg a day, Week ago i decided to quit and surprise! Withdrawal effects appears, I"m in 🤪 this sh...t. WTF!
How are you doing now? Any relief from your symptoms?
I have detoxed from herion, suboxine, gabbapenton, seroquel, antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and probably more I can’t think of right now. Benzos and gabbapenton were the two worst then probably suboxine then whatever other opiates. I bought Benzos off the street, I never had a script but I went to detox because I went to the methadone clinic blacked out and they called dcf on me. It was hell, I didn’t sleep for 7 days straight, I could barely sit down. I was in some type of paranoid manic state, I thought the nurses were not giving me all of my methadone prescription, I was hounding them and wouldn’t let them out of my site at med time. I was sweaty and shaking and the phenobarbital they tried to give me had a strange side effect that made my lungs feel like they were shaking so I had to go cold Turkey. Gabbapenton withdrawal almost killed me, I can work and do what I have to do in any other type of withdrawal, I can get up and force myself to get whatever drug I need to help myself but not with gabbapenton, I couldn’t even move off the floor to get up and use the bathroom. I felt like my body couldn’t regulate its temperature and it was wildly fluctuating from extremely cold and violently shivering to sweating, hot, peeling clothes off and soaked and sometimes both at the same time. Most people don’t have that extraordinary of a reaction to withdrawing from gabbapenton but I did maybe I was on a high dose but it wrecked me fro months. I tapered slowly and shaved a little bit by little bit off and that helped out immensely. I have been off of everything but my Methadone for like 4-5 years now and I have been off of all street drugs for 11 years. I can’t shake the methadone and I’ll probably be on it for the rest of my life.
i never has problems, ive been on klonopins 2 times now and came off both times with no issue. im currentl on xanax for sleep and it works like a charm. i think there are just certain people who cant handle it
Dear, do you honestly feel that this drug has done you good in the end? Because some ppl claim that their lives been better than ever after ..I wonder if thats true and what that actually feels like?
Best thing I ever did was to free myself from Klonopin and all psych drugs. It was chemical slavery. So glad to be on the other side and have returned to health.
@@RASJACOBSON totally agree.. and congratulation on the achievement!
I first was prescribed klonopins in 2015, was off a year later with no problem, same thing in 2018 and again off 6 months later no problems. im currently on xanax to help me sleep, ive had a few problems with stress, my dr tried giving me zoloft which made it worse. he tried paxil and again made it worse, several sleep meds. only thing that has helped is the xanax. i feel the all the non narcotics are just as bad if not worse, ive had 0 problems with benzos, not everyone is the same.
For sure not everyone is the same; however many people are experiencing horrific withdrawals & doctors need to do more provide informed consent for opioids and benzos. PS: I’d be curious to hear what brought you to benzos in 2015, obviously some kind of difficult situation. I’m curious as to why are you looking for a pharmacological solution? Maybe it’s time to consider making a lifestyle change?
Could you do a zoom call with me?

What should i do if i lowered my meds 2 weeks ago by 50 % but was forced to take my original full dose .... now im back from the start now should i begin slowly again or do abruptly to 50% again ??
It’s not recommended to cut that abruptly! I’d say that you familiarize yourself with The Ashton Manual and start by reducing no more than 10% - some people make even smaller cuts. If you need help, reach out to the folks at Free Range Psychiatry. You can do this!

Well hello
It’s great you are off medication. It’s great you are trying to help others. But you hold no degree in counseling or therapy or even medical from what I see. I would caution anybody from contacting somebody like you for help.
I have never claimed to be an ME or a counselor. Those of us who have had to go thru this experience know more than most doctors have NO TRAINING in helping people to get off psych drugs properly - and I work with holistic psychiatrists who handle the medical piece while I handle the psychological/emotional strategies. If you’re not comfortable working with me, feel free to keep scrolling.
I was forced off in rehab 17 months ago. It was a nightmare, my doc cut me off and I had no choice. I was on Ativan for 14 years! I'm still not healed. I have to take gabapentin just to function. I need to work to survive, and the gabapentin allows me to work. Unfortunately, this drug has side effects too. Thanx for the video. We need to know were not alone.
Ugh! I wish that you would take the time to heal rather than go with the GabaP. It also has a withdrawal associated with it and is a known neurotoxin. You are literally trading one poison for another. Healing the body takes time! You were on it for 14 years!
@@RASJACOBSON I've not heard of anyone dying from gabapentin withdrawal. Doctors also say Gabapentin does not cause dementia as millions of people are also on it for pain. Who knows. I tried going off it for 5 weeks back in April and slowly after 3,4,5 weeks I started to tremor like I had Parkinsons disease, and I couldn't sleep a wink. So how am I supposed to go off of it? I have to work.

@@CBT5777 Hardly, but I am a pioneer who has been thru it. I’ve also worked with over 500 people so patterns emerge. Here when things change for you.
There is two things going on in withdrawal the suffering due to withdrawal and the return of symptoms that put you on the drugs in the first place. I just tapered off Clonazepam 6 weeks ago and it's the worst experience I'm going through. I'm having a lot physical symptoms. And I become sensitive to medications. I been to some doctor to get my medicine change them and I told them what's going on and they don't believe me and think I'm crazy. I just the sensitivity will pass. Do you know if it will.
Hi Wayne. I’m so sorry you’re going thru this. Healing from this injury takes a long time & you have to learn a lot of skills. At 6 months out, you are still in the acute stage. I am not surprised to hear that you have become med sensitive; this is a common experience because we are being asked to wake up. You are not here to be drugged, so you will have to stop looking for pharmacological solutions. If you’d ever like to have a support call, I can say more.
I’ve been taking Xanax for about 2 years but only 2 times a week. When I try to skip the weekly doses I get rebound insomnia. I wonder if it’s withdrawal ?
Most likely, yes. Twice a week is not insignificant.
I like the goldfish.
Please can someone relate to the feeling that brain feel like not functioning normally. I am tapering with Ashton manual with doctor. I felt relief in that brain lock year ago when I was in really bad withdrawl symptons of oxazepam and one doctor did crossover from oxazepam to diazepam and my symptons and constant panic went away. I got my able to function normally back and felt happiness for the first time after my dog had to put to sleep at the age of 16 2021 summer and doctor prescriped me a big amount of oxazepam and didn't warn me. But year ago when I was on diazepam taper was too quickly and went badly wrong. Now I am doing crossover from klonopin to diazepam and brain lock has been disturbing me to function almost a year and before that few weeks of relief I suffered brain lock from early on when I got benzo. I can't feel anything good if I try to walk and run (wich I love) and feel depersonalization and derealisation. Please I have a long tapering ahead and want this drug off of me but fear brain lock is permanent. I in constant panic and fight or flight state. My doctor says I have tolerance and these drug make me sick and more anxious and I agree and think that I have suffered witdrawl symptoms even when I didn't taper. And said I want to taper this time with Ashton manual and she was willing to read it and we started week ago. Please if someone feels also some brain function problems and could answer and give hope. Thank you.
Did you feel your brain doesn't function normally? Like you don't understand a simple thing and become overwhelmed of any normal things and can't understand that people can live their lives. I call it brain lock. I was prescriped a big amount of oxazepam 2021 summer and doctor didn't warn me after my dog had to put to sleep at the age of 16. I had terrible panic attacks. I became to suffer brain lock and worried the medicine and wanted to taper. I tapered and suffered a half year and could not see people and my partner because I told my hell all the time to my loved ones in constant panic. Year ago one doctor did crossover from oxazepam to diazepam and brain lock went away, got to sleep, got normal mornings, got to see people and exercise felt good for the first time after my dog died. I could function normally and agoraphobia (normally don't have) went away. But taper was too quick and went badly wrong. In spring I was tapered in hospital from 5 mg of diazepam straight to zero and brain lock was bad and i had withdrawl symptons. Rude doctor said I couldn't have any withdrawl symptons and I got to home very sick. My new doctor prescriped me klonopin to get me me 200 mg of quetapine (normally and when I was on diazepam I slept with 25 mg) and 20 mg of temazepam to get me to sleep because I barely slept for months. Now I sleep but wake up in a coma and feel like I have no brain. She also prescriped me klonopin in the summer to get me relief for a while and then taper but it didn't help. Now I said to my doctor that I think I suffer withdrawl even don't taper and want to taper with Ashton manual and she was willing to read it and we started week ago. I feel awful. Brain lock is stopping me to function and see people. I try to walk and run but brain lock is shutting my brain ali the time and u feel depersonalization and derealisation and like I'm in a different reality from other people. I feel disconnected from everybody and also enviroment. I fear this brain lock is permanent, my head was scanned in the mri and it was fine. Luckily it went away year ago fully with the help of diazepam. Now my doctor think I have tolerance and that's why klonopin didn't help and it is making me sick and more anxious and I agree. She is very smart and kind. But now i have a long tapering ahead and have no power left. My biggest fear is that the brain lock stays and then I suffer the other symptoms and it's too much. My doctor thinks brain lock will leave when I get off of this drug and be without them long enough. I try every morning because I wake up with no brain and have to force every single little thing in day. And the suffer of brain lock, I feel like I am all the time with severe brain damage, doesn't leave me a single minute. I try to walk and run but can't focuse on that. I have normally a healthy, active, social good life. Thank you if you can read my long story and if you had any problems with brain function and it has gone away. I need support that this is from the drug and withdwal and I will survive and have good mornings with a coffee in peace in the future and planning a good day after that. Thank you and hope you are well.
Absolutely. It is very scary… but neuroplasticity is real and the brain can change… with the right support. How are you doing at this point?
@@RASJACOBSON Thank you for answering. I'm totally homebound. Tried to do yoga for months but can't anymore and am in very bad condition. I have tapered from total amount of valium 60 mg (klonopin crossover) to 5 mg now. I have also that 20 mg of temazepam. I wake up to death and brainlock and that I can't understand a simple thing and normal life at all. I can't even understand tv commercials or my clothes. I fear that I have this brain not understanding normal things and normal life at all permanent. It was two years ago just an acute symptom when I first tapered huge amount of oxazepam too rapidly and then had 10 mg of valium and brain lock went away for few weeks and was normal me and could exposer myself to store and walks and it worked. Dr/dp went away with valium and i could taper being first time stabilized. But it went too fast also and badly wrong. Then ct in 22 spring in hospital from 5 mg and since that I have had brain lock whole time. I was so desperate I took klonopin month after ct, praying it would make brain lock away but the whole last summer I was in brain lock and dr/dp, and having panic attacks after store and crying I can't understand normal things and tried to go for walks but brain was just shut down all the time. I have tapered almost a year and i have been in store and walks last year. Can't even get the trash out normally. I fear this is the worst brainlock ever that anyone has had and that this can't go away. I was very positive and grateful and lived healthy social life. Then poisoned with huge amount of oxazepam after trauma and panic attacks. And had just that one few weeks when I had good chance to taper that 10 of valium being with no brain lock but doctor rushed and it has cost me this. And that I was in so bad condition suffering after ct that I took klonopin and it didn't even help and now tapered from squere one. Being crazy every minute. My brain is just shut down. In constant fight or flight. I can't do anything. I have no power, tortured over two years. My mom and partner bring me food and meds and i go crazy when I www them. Can't be normal. I miss my old self, three years ago I was very happy and had healthy social life. All the best.

Dear are you fully recovered?
I have a completely different life & I will spend the rest of my life healing emotionally from this, but my health has returned, yes. And I thank God for that.
@@RASJACOBSON I sm do happy to hear that ❤️❤️❤️
Hi did you experience akathisia? Did it go away?
Yes! And yes!
@@RASJACOBSON 👏 thank you for reply How long it took ti go away? Was in involuntary or just “inner” restlessness?
@@RASJACOBSON that’s thf onky symptom I have + depression Did you experience deep depression, snd did it go away?
I too am 100% healed from Benzodiazepine BRAIN and CNS damage. It took about 3 years of nonstop hell on earth...both mental and physical.... but I did finally heal.... very very very slowly... Now at about 6 years I have literally never felt better in my life. But it was VERY VERY BAD.
So glad that You are adding your voice to the chorus of those who have healed. It really does happen, it just is so very slow. I imagine you had to make massive lifestyle changes as well, right?
@@RASJACOBSON Well... I did lose my 27 year career....most of my friends...most of my money..almost lost a place to live.... for starters.... But at least the nonstop Hell ended.... It is just so GREAT to feel normal again. And I was sure I was never going to heal..... but i did! PRAISE GOD!!!!!
@@Q1776Q I “lost” a career and a marriage, but if I’m being honest, neither was a great fit for me. So glad to have my health restored. Truly THE most important thing!
@@RASJACOBSON I'm so glad you are well again... f someone has not gone thru this..they can NEVER POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND.
Did you experience akathisia???
Great Video and well put together as this drug is one of the hardest things to come off of but can be done with alot of sacrifice and willpower. thanks for doing your part in educationing those who need it and unfortunately doctors are still handing out benzos like a quick fix instead of getting to the root of problem, my recommendation is stay off this drug unless you plan to stay on it for the rest of your life and support gready pharma and in final the benefits of being free from this drug are magnificently rewarding in terms of living a free life without depending on doctor visits and pharmaceutical drugs. Keep up the great work 👍
It has major longterm debilitating effects, too, and the mainstream media is FINALLY starting to report on this! Hopefully less prescribing
I’m so happy you’re at this milestone :)
It takes a VERY long time, but the body is incredible! Hold on & wait for the miracle. It is coming.
@@RASJACOBSON ty 4 saying that. Need a miracle for this. been so damn long.
How long did it take you?
@@allencollins6031 It takes as long as it takes. When people ask this question, I can tell they are still very early in this experience. You are on God’s time now.

Ive done xanax for about 2 weeks every now and then, but im stopping today, should my withdrawals be severe? And can i go cold turkeys since it wasnt a long term drug use?
Everyone is different; that’s why this experience so maddening. Some people are injured quickly, where others can go for decades without a problem. Genetics play a big part as well as the duration of use & how kindled you might be from other drugs. I hope you have an easy go of it. Please consider getting some help to figure out why you were using these drugs in the first place.
Thanks im on my 4th day of being off of it and i can say the 1st 2 days were hell but im feeling alot better im about 90% back soo hearing other peoples stories seems i was let off easy.. and yes i had a long conversation with my parents about my personal issues and trauma i was trying to numb but i realise im alot more important than i give myself credit for
@@ceaserspalace7224 That is *really* good news. Most of the people that I see are severely injured due to longterm use -- and they have often been poly-drugged with other psych meds like SSRIs, etc... Whatever you are going thru, I can tell you you are NOT alone. Someone else is going thru it too! I hope your parents were supportive. This is not always the case -- and it doesn't mean that there aren't other people who wouldn't be able to help you. Please keep me updated about how you are doing at the two week mark. :)
Been 2 weeks finally feel back to normal, never taking a benzo again !
@@ceaserspalace7224 I’m so glad you are out of the woods at two weeks. Many people suffer for multiple years. Please please never touch them again - and help spread the word about their dangers!
Thank you.
Please help me. I was put on Klonopin in hospital and never told it was a controlled substance. I take 1.5mg at night and its been 12 years and 5 months. I dont want to be on it. I live alone with no supports. I have no substance abuse. I need help. I found out this year that its a Benzo. I live in Canada.

Are you coaching people who are in withdrawal
I offer emotional support/coaching to people who are coming thru this injury, yes. You can find the information on my website at www.rasjacobson.store under the "benzo support" tab.
I am on klonopin for a year due to my anxiety insomnia its a horrible drug whenever i taper off withdrawal symptoms occurs.😔😔😭
Ashton Manual Dr Heather Ashton
I have been only taking xanax for about 2 months, not every single night but most for sleep. Which helped, i went 4 days without them. I got admitted to the hospital the 3rd day due to taking one extra beta blocker. But I had zero symptoms until the 3rd night really. People said i shouldn't have that bad. Of a detox and can do somewhat of a rapid taper. The most withdrawal symptoms intermmittent between my doses is just slight diarrhea and sweaty hands. Some anxiety but nothing crazy. I pushed out a lot of it in the hospital that night
It is fortunate that you were taking for just 2 months, although I have several clients who have been severely harmed after just 4 weeks of daily use. Again, I encourage you to look at WHY you had insomnia in the first place, as that is the issue that needs to be addressed. Was it stress from work? A relationship? Is it from your own perfectionism? When this is over, you will probably have to make a lifestyle change rather than turn to drugs again.
@@RASJACOBSON i just wait until the withdrawal feels horrible and take the major symptoms away but still sweaty and diarrhea. Not even for sleep. Gotta feel some pain and the more pain the more it's leaving your body. I've came off fentanyl before, it wasn't a pleasent experience lol
@@RASJACOBSON I'm also hyperthyroid so sometimes i. Feel those symptoms without being in withdrawal so i think it's conditioned me somewhat. But i never had a love for xanax. I did muay thai for 10 years so can workout and tire myself out naturally
@@RASJACOBSON this potential addiction scares the s* out of me in comparison to the fentanyl and kind of makes me want to stay sober
@@RASJACOBSON I think a lot that has to do with the mental part is when you take it. For instance I would take it at 10:30 p.m. at night Ed Wood work all day and not have the deed to take it immediately because I don't desire the effects the way I did the opioids. I like to have my energy and Xanax sucks the energy out of me so I never really attached to it that way
Benzo withdrawal is unique in that it can actually kill you. Even opiate withdrawal won't likely kill you. It will be horrible but benzo withdrawal can be deadly.
Honestly benzos rarely kill people ; but the withdrawals make you wish you were dead. Many people take their own lives as a result of the physical, emotional & psychological dysfunction these drugs cause. They should only be used in a hospital setting, IMHO, and never longer than 2 weeks.
@@RASJACOBSON I thought seizures from withdrawal ended up killing people sometimes. Maybe I am wrong.
@@Del-Canada It is very uncommon, unless paired with opioids. Doctors liked benzos better than barbiturates because they were considered “safer” - meaning it is harder to overdose on them. Trust me, these drugs are far from “safe,” especially when prescribed for daily use.
@@RASJACOBSON Did you read the latest black box warning that came out in 2020 for benzos?
@@Del-Canada of course!
