GUESS THE BASS, VOLUME 5!
It's a rare thing for us to have back to back episodes on the same topic, but we couldn't resist. It was time to put Reg through his guessing paces one more time, and see if he could get his overall GTB score up. He's been watching the other episodes, and honing his questioning skills. Can he do it this time? He really needs it to get his average up, and Jet's eager to see him do it. It's a fun time and a good chance for you to see if you can best Reg and guess the bass Jet is playing before it's revealed.

Guess the Bass 4 - Can Reg Do It This Time?
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.Год назад
Another day, another bass to for Reg to try to identify...without seeing it. 20 questions plus 5 guesses is all he gets, as always. Jet answers the questions and plays the bass for him, but can Reg come up with the right questions? Can he do it this time? He's 1 for 3 so far in the series, can he get his average up to 50%? A lovely dinette set, and a live seal, are up for grabs if he can. Join ...

Having some famous folks associated with the pedal is icing on the cake. Today Jet and Jason compare and contrast 2 different Signature drive/boost pedals, the D&M Drive from Keeley, co-designed and endorsed by Dan and Mick from That Pedal Show, and the Gri...
All-Pedal Macrodose Envelope Filter Review

OK, this one is a trippy, drippy, does-more-than-you-would-think sorta guitar pedal. Jet and Reg take the All-Pedal Macrodose to task with a Huber Krautster II and an Amplified Nation Wonderland Overdrive amp, and the results are fanstastic! It's hard to believe one pedal can create all these sounds. Phasery, filtery, laser-fight goodness . . . there's just no way to describe the "trip" the guy...

Jet and Reg are at it again, this time with a new pedalboard in their sights. Question is, what to put on it? It's gonna take more than one show to figure that out! But they gotta start somewhere, so it was off to the pedal shelves to find some contenders. Two distortions, a phaser and a polyphonic octave machine with bonus goodies sounds like a great place to get the ball rolling. It's episode...

Which of the Lightweight Bass Heads is the best?
Просмотров 16 тыс.Год назад
Jet and Reggie pit 3 heavy hitting but light weight bass amp heads against each other in this low frequency shootout to determine which one steals the show. Will it be the Mesa Boogie Subway D-800, the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500, or the Euphonic Audio iAmp Micro? Each has plenty of volume, with the wattage to move some serious air (the power range for these amps is 350-800 watts). Each features a ...

We bring another unusual bass guitar to the game for you to guess along with Reg for the best gameshow in music, GUESS THE BASS...

Which Tone Bender vs?
Prefer Tonehammer because I rather color my own tones! You guys are all over the place! Too jumpy in locking in for comparison.
Неумело используют, только тратят время зрителя.
It’s extremely important to read the manuals and find out what “flat“ really is before comparing the “flat” tones of the various amplifiers. Not only is the enhanced control on the Mesa flat all the way left, but the Aguilar has some unusual tone control parameters as well. Imagine throwing a fender tone stack in there, and declaring it flat at noon when those are flat at the numerical settings of 2 - 10-2.
D’Angelico Premier Bedford is super underrated, if you like mini Hum’s!
The black one only has a mix and rate, and the parameters are preset for you - great for pedal dummies like me. And they got it RIGHT!

I collect them all. The best by far is the original Deluxe Electric Mistress with IC SAD1024A. The reissues sound totally different, I don't like them very much. I don't like too much all the other versions which all sound close to the reissues. One exception is the digital Stereo Electric Mistress (in black) that reproduces some of the best Del. E.M. sounds.(Also included in Epitome). Other great pedal is the Flanger Hoax which is able to come close to an original Deluxe E.M. without any Reticon chip.
🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 constantly clipping the input... Ridiculous
It's a fun pedal, but I have never been able to find a practical application for it
After thinking this hyped up place would be cool to visit and have a guitar worked on. I was sadly disappointed. Don't have a guitar worked on, a bunch of condescending pricks who don't know what they are talking about.
Cool demo
You guys are killing it with this video! We needed this video brothers. I already knew what it was and plan on getting one. Im a new sub so idk if you do any bass gear but i plan on using it on the bass rig and a bass video similar to this would be awesome.
The silver one is much cheaper.
Don't feel like the guys are bassist but sales instead 🥱
You have the Master volume totally down... On the Mesa Boogie ‼️‼️‼️
which flat wound strings on the pbass?
Good review but I think they're being way too polite. IMO, the Euphonic was garbage. Nothing sounded good and the eq knobs barely did anything. The Mesa sounded good enough, like my GK or Markbass class D heads, but the Aguilar stood out like a gem. Everything sounded good. They seem to be the only class D amp out there that has great tone and a good usable overdrive, except maybe DarkGlass. Got a kick out of him pulling out a 39 year old Rick for us super modern folks. Would be nice to hear an active PU 5 string like Schecter, Ibanez or Spector. That would be modern, even though my SR-885 is from 1992.
I'm sure you must have mentioned it somewhere, but what is actual NAME of this amp? Which model is it? You sort of brush over this and I must have missed it. Not very good for a gear channel... most important thing Clearly name the product!
Names are there on the screen.
Mesa Boogie for the win
Oh man this guy is a clown plz dude knock it down a notch
Es imposible saber como suenan cuando lo prueba alguien que no sabe tocar
Interesting comparison. But in fact we have two pedals built around different Chip (Analog Delay). I think big box pedal is Version first or second Deluxe Electric Mistress which built around Reticon SAD1024 . LongAmp Roxanne build around MN3007. I think LongAmp Roxanne have original Deluxe Electric Mistress circuit but reason why they sound different is in Delay Chip. NOS Reticon SAD1024 is not cheap in comparison MN3007 . Maybe price on pedal with Reticon SAD1024 would be not 250 $ but 550 $ and for that price we can get pedal that sound like original first version with same depth and bottom end. Anyway LongAmp Roxanne is great Deluxe Electric Mistress incarnation...
I have both the Mesa D800 and the Mesa D800+. The D800+ sounds way better in my opinion.
I run an XO on my main pedalboard that I use for both flanger and chorus. Recently I picked up a 2008-14 Reissue big box with separate 24v adapter. Their factory settings are very different, although they can be modified to achieve pretty similar sounds by messing with the trimpots on the back of the pedal. The big box I have has four trimpots, while the XO I have has five. Here are my thoughts: Color: The XO has a lot more volume on tap, and goes into self-oscillation when this knob is maxed. The RI can be set to go into self-oscillation too by turning up the "Feedback" trimpot in the back, but at factory settings it's calibrated much lower. I actually backed off my XO just below self-oscillation, and maxed the separate "Mix" trimpot so it sounds extra lush like the old boxes. Range: The XO's sweep is calibrated at a lower range than on the RI, which causes it to lose its high-end chime that the Electric Mistress is known for. But the lower-frequency sweep recalls an MXR Flanger, which makes the XO able to do Van Halen sounds. When this knob is turned up, a pitch-bending seasick effect is introduced. My XO starts to get noticeably seasick when the Range is set past 1:00, while my RI really only starts to get to the same point when the Range is maxed. Again, this can be changed by messing with the "Clock" trimpot on either pedal. Rate: The taper of the Rate knob is similar on both pedals - the slow settings exist from 7:00-9:00 and everything else is moderate to high speeds. A lot of people complained that the XO didn't sound good, and I think it's because the louder Color and the lower Range didn't play as well with how the Rate knob worked. All three of my RI's controls feel a lot more interactive and musical. The XO can absolutely sound musical but you can't just set the knobs at 10 o'clock and do Gilmour on it; you have to use your ears. Filter Matrix: I don't use this mode too much, but my XO yields a high-pitched squeal when the Range knob is turned up in this mode. This can be fixed by tweaking the "Clock" trimpot CCW, which also raises the frequency of the sweep. I can't recreate this squeal on my RI at any knob or trimpot setting, and I'm wondering if this has to do with the tolerance of the parts or the circuitry. My XO uses an Xvive MN3009 chip (which is probably also found in the current Walking on the Moon version) while earlier pedals (including the earlier XOs) used Reticon chips. In conclusion I don't think it's necessary to pick up a vintage model if you're going for the Electric Mistress sound - because the Electric Mistress sound itself notoriously varies from model to model, version to version. The reduced size, LED, and 9v power supply make the XO the clear winner if you know how to use your ears and set the pedal accordingly with the trimpots. The big boxes have that classic sound out of the box as well as the vintage mojo if that's what you like, but for all practical purposes the XO can tweaked to sound similar, if not the same. As for the Stereo, I've never owned one but I don't think it gets a fair shake from most guitarists. A traditional EM it is not, but it gets these really cool, washy, synth-y textures that make it a beast of its own. And that color-changing LED is a fun touch.
Bonamassa would be crying that someone said it wasn't as vintage as...
Best drive pedal I have ever owned. WOW !!!😋
The Fulltone sounded light years better than the Morley 🧐
Completely agree. I don't like either of them tbh but the Morley was pretty bad.
My first wah back in '95 was a Vox 847. Still got that pedal.
Won't ever buy one of these amps; no money. RUclips, Joe Logsdon & Company
Won't be buying that one!
This is amazing, thanks!
Glad you like it! Thanks for the kind words.
A great demo. One the one hand, I might get tired of a more in your face flanger, on the other hand, might this eventually prove not brazen enough?
wow your lazy its a chorus pedal ment to be in stereo what a joke....
Waht a fun to watch! 😃 Great job, gentlemen, I really appreciate everything you’ve put into making this video!
Thanks so much! Very kind of you to say.
Why is the Aguilar the only amp that is hooked up with a balanced in put that makes a difference they should be all the same
that's the DI out not the input
Joe Bonemassa uses one to brighten one of his vintage amps with just a tiny bit of chorus
BUt realy, please all basplayers, pfff,so they whant to sell you the most expencif apss and the guy is a provesonel like the riffs he play
Expecting my Bombshell Overdrive Tuesday, weather pending. RJ nailed the demos and I just can't help myself. 50w...tweed...black grill. Spending my kids' inheritance, they'll understand.
vintage pedal is f****d.... that's clock noise. Vintage pedals sound great when they aren't broken (they are 40+ years old).
PRS Vela satin finish really impressed me
Wow, this was slow.
Mesa and iamp should join forces…
The reason I am watching this is cuz my VOX wah is crapping out. What I plan to do is get the Joe wah, then get my VOX repaired.
Amazing job guys! Congratulations and thanks!!!
Thank you too! Appreciate the kind words.
The amp has to be loud and almost "breaking up";A Treble booster drives these frequencies through the amp. 20 watts is not doing it.
20 watt is plenty enough even more with tubes, louder is better.
Nicely done, chaps. Brilliant sounds that I remember so well… One concern: from whence does it hail? China? They used to be made in Denmark. 🫶✌️♾️. 🎸👨🏼⚕️. 🎄🎅🏻🎄
I believe they are made in either China or Thailand these days.
@@gearngigs I found via site write-up that it is China … ☹️. 🤷🏼♂️. 🎄🎅🏻🫶✌️♾️. 🎸👨🏼⚕️🎸
ampeg svt 7 pro. 1000 watts at 4 ohms. what i have with a 4x10 neo cab that handles the 7 pro 👍👍👍👍👍👍
We've heard good things about that amp. We are big Ampeg fans here at GnG. Thanks!
Someone at Fender Japan thought the same about the Anderson I guess, part of me really wants a Japan Junior Jazzmaster or a Strat ❤😅(24 in)
I'm curious about the wattage on each of these. Maybe I wasn't listening well enough during all the demo intros. Oh, one of the last was 22 watts. Would love to hear a 100 watt version.
The Wonderland is a 50 watt head, the Ampliphonix & Gain is a 22 watt combo. Both have 1/2 power switches, although we did not use them for the video. Thanks for watching!
