I dont think that steven views pink as a monster but a very troubled individual and maybe a bad person....
TAKE A SHOT EVERY TIME I SAY "UM" or don't. youll get alcohol poisoning.
And They're still married to this day in Albuquerque
im so happy for them :)
Also, what are the chances one pure bred husky accidently breeds with another pure bred husky. Thats quite the lucrative accident! Especially to happen twice on one youtube channel with a person whose not a back yard breeder
I thought him being a backyard breeder was just a known thing because its so obvious. People, who cant see it, are too easily lied to by those they admire and follow. Or they just dont know anything about backyard breeding
This video? Make me cry within 3 minutes? Oh my god thank you so much for this, it’s pointing out so much right now
42:47 i wouldn't say this is her avoiding the problem or pretending it doesn't exist. In this case, there's literally nothing they can do about it, so she's focusing on what little positives there are to prevent panic. at least that's how i see it.
53:41 I compare it with playing Jenga. Sometimes you pull one of too many, and pewewewewwph
Steven clearly has savior complex but almost everyone just focusing on ptsd
no i agree, but i was personally focusing on PTSD because thats what i relate to
@@AlyssaPerrine sorry if it was rude
not at all!! maybe i can make a video about steven's savior complex one day
@@AlyssaPerrinethat would be cool to see, i don't know much about how savior complexes work
@@AlyssaPerrinethe fuck does he have to be traumatized for? I mean ignoring his space dictator family, he’s got a girlfriend who almost always stands by his side, a dad who who isn’t a belligerent ass to him, 6 high level guaridan aunts, and a decent supply of friends. And he’s the hero of a war where no one important died. You know how many of us would fucking KILL for even a fraction of the life Steven had?
That was very interesting and informative thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
sounds like the man is blaming his incest kink on Christianity
As someone from the south, family has been here for multiple generations, WE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GROSS STUFF
Adding the disclaimer before anyone else comments this: YES! THIS VIDEO HAS SO SOURCES!! IT IS A REVIEW OF ANDREW MORRIS' VIDEO. I literally state as much at 1:03. Something else I state is that my videos are based about FEELINGS, AND OPINIONS. Mine specifically. If you can't handle an old fashioned review where I turn what could've been a 3k word comment into a 40 minute video, then don't watch! It's that simple!
I'm not letting this anthony fandango looking ass make not love the film clueless. There are many other films that have truly weird stuff like this in it that's much worse, Thats My Boy with Adam Sandler comes to mind. Also doesn't take place in the south. That's my Boy came out in 2012 and there was zero reason to include it in the film, just have her cheat on smaberg, why have it with her brother instead?
if you're going to make a commentary video about an extremely nuanced topic, especially when trying to refute someone else's claims, i think having research and knowledge on the discussion is extremely important. for example, in the original story, juliet was 13 years old and romeo was 16-18. this is because the age was never clearly stated, rather we went off historical norms from the time. it's a shame that it seems you left your analysis at some quick google searches. saying there is no reason to "psychoanalyze incest" shows that you're not really interested in the entire matter of the original video, which kinda baffles me on why you'd even make a 41 minute video on it. incest has been historically significant throughout basically the entire existence of humanity, like he explains in his video. additionally, on the topic of incest in appalachia, it absolutely was a case of xenophobia as well as racism, due to immigrants from scotland, ireland, etc. that is xenophobia. if you didn't already state that you were uneducated on the topic i'd say your statements were simply classist. you cannot compare incest within the south to incest within hierarchies for reasons he already went through. your insults towards his intelligence and character is odd and very off-putting. a mature topic deserves a mature response, with a lot more thought put into your claims
what made you think this was a commentary video? I never stated that and went out of my way to clarify that i WASN'T providing sources or anything. This video was made to rant about a video i didn't like. simple as.
i feel like a lot of the time you start analyzing his jokes when you can just say they're not funny. i thought the original video was neat enough (it was mostly my background noise while i drew, fwiw) and edgy jokes aren't really fun for everybody, so i can understand that, but i think pausing to give them real analytical thought sort of makes your critique seem pedantic on top of making your videos a bit longer. i do think it's weird he never really goes back much to the psychological flirting we do with this topic, but i also think it's pretty apparent that he never actually supports incest, or at least doesn't talk about supporting it in real life. he discusses ways it's used interestingly as a narrative trope versus ways it's included in a less impactful way that seems to lean more into fetishy tones. further evidenced by him straight up making a joke that you yourself acknowledged where he was comparing it to inappropriate relations with minors. you yourself wrote and link a fic tagged with S/A mentions/inclusion, would you not hope if someone were using similarly strong topics that they had a solid and justifiable plot to warrant something so serious that effects people's lives really deeply? i don't think it'd be fair to dismiss your story for including that just because i don't think S/A is right in real life. you say that's "not your point" but when you say stuff like "Either you're okay with ____ or you're not" that feels a bit disingenuous? or at least inconsistent. breaking societal norms and bringing up societal norms shortly after help...prove a point on those norms being broken? he's using real world parallels because these are fictional worlds based off and referencing real world nuances? iunno, i'm not particularly invested in your take on an informative and watchability standpoint for your argument, so maybe you are making a lot of sense to yourself, but this video's...rough. feels rough. you can most definitely make your points more effectively. and when you find a way to do that in this video format, i'll probably praise you for it. but in the meantime...eh.
for the joke part, it might not help that i'm autistic so i tend to take jokes at face value, and take them very literally. he makes a joke and my brain goes "um. but...that isn't true..." which is a valid thing to critique for me because it's not useful. i also call out his minor joke because it DOES make no sense. the correlation is a stretch, and doesn't relate to incest at all. It's literally a strawman of saying "well if you like this one thing, that TOTALLY means you defend the other thing, too!!" i personally viewed it as him defending incest, but i think that because of the way he's downplaying IRL incest and offering more solutions for media to portray it in an "interesting" and "intriguing" angle which just puts me off MASSIVELY. thats just who i am! its okay to not be that way, or to be as you said, more edgy! lastly, this video didnt have a point. the entire point was how i felt about his video, and my opinions on it. not every will agree, and that's life! i will explain why i felt that way, and hope people understand. they dont have to agree, but coming to a mutual understanding is always nice! I stated at the start of the video that i was uneducated on the topic, and that i wouldnt be providing sources like i do in my other videos. This wasn't meant to be informative, it was simply a reply about one video that i disliked! i've seen other youtubers doing it (MARKIE specifically) and i found it an interesting format of talking about a video, so this was my own take on it! its quite alright that you arent a fan :)
Apart from the age gap, I really don’t understand why they would have an issue with Cher and Josh - their parents were married for a bit and that’s it as far as familial connection. I’m pretty sure in Emma (which Cher is based on) the Josh character is her cousin, and in the story it’s about her realising she’d overlooked what has been right under her nose
A significant amount of the high production value adult content is filmed in LA Portland and Vancouver which actually does lead to a limited amount of representation with respect to accents. Southern accents in porn were more common in the early 2000s and i think before not really sure why but they definitely still exist. But what hes saying is they aren't as disproportionately common as the "family" theamed content.
I tried to listen to his video because I thought he was just going to be talking about media's weird thing with incest. Like with porn hub and anime. And talk about the history of it in media. Then he went on a weird stran of thoughts so i stopped watching.
Yeah, that video title of his was intense clickbait. I sat through it and realized half-way through that I got baited.
it was actually insane
I don't know what's more depressing, that it sounds like you're twelve, that you're talking about porn when it sounds like you're twelve or that this guy is so pornbrained that he managed to present himself in a way that let's his argumentation get obliterated by someone who sounds like they're twelve.

@@AlyssaPerrine I didn't write that you were twelve, merely that you sound twelve. An uneven tone of voice and a fallback to isolated swearwords when you're at a loss for words will kinda do that.

What was this guys point even I don’t understand Did he think he was making sense or something
it started out as anti incest but turned into him talking about how, as long as the plot is good, then we should accept it in the media
@@AlyssaPerrine it mostly just sounded like glorification of incest
I'd recommend linking his video in your description, or pinning a comment with it. That way people can watch the original video, then come back to your video having seen it for themselves without your commentary so they can form their own opinions and then listen to your take. Also, it's just a good rule of thumb to link to your source material in general.
added it on!
I fully agree with your statement.
1.- The problem with the Pornhub statistic is that "step-brother/sister" is missing. Yes, incest is more than just siblings, but his point in the video is about sibling incest in particular, therefore the step-mom statistic doesn't work. (2:24) 2.- If you don't like long videos, then don't watch long videos. (2:54) 3.- The message in Clueless may be "challenge the status quo", but the reality is that the movie focuses on an incestuous (though not biological) sibling relationship as part of its main plot. It's center focus. (3:44) 4.- I can't believe you are complaining about him not "citing the summary of Clueless correctly", and yet you haven't seen the movie. You know those summaries are often NOT accurate, right? He's giving his own summary from having seen the movie. Duh. (3:08, 5:07) (Not like you do. Fast wikipedia and your friends summary is not research) 5.- You misinterpret him. What he says is that the plot can work without the incest, yet they decided to make them step-siblings anyway. Therefore, it was a choice. He isn't defending anything. (And you did that a lot. Literally, you missed the whole point somehow. For 40 minutes.) (5:28, 6:50) 6.- Since you didn't understand the video, I will help you: The point with the law remark was that these relationships are illegal, but they still exist. Also, they aren't illegal worldwide. And the law hasn't stopped minor lovers, so it will be even less effective in stopping consensual incest. So, it happens, but you don't need to portray it in media. (In the case of Clueless.) (7:22) 7.- Because we are talking about incest in media and they made a movie- omfg. (8:38) 8.- Because he's talking about incest in history and why it was normalized to analyze why it is "normalized" today. Oh my, you are an idiot. You are an idiot. Okay, since I really can't stand you, I will not continue giving you my view, but here's the list of problems I've noticed just from JUST WATCHING THE FIRST 10 MINUTES. So imagine the list for 40 :) So you know, my conclusion: He has a point, and he makes sense, but you are so dumb you missed the entire video. And it was a long one wow. Hope you are okey in school. Try watching it again :) And try doing more research before posting on the internet.
going through this since you obviously didn't catch onto what a reply video is.... this is not meant as research. Not every video youre going to come across on youtube is going to be research based. You have to understand that every once in awhile, people WILL upload emotional centric content!! That is what this is! If you cant handle that people have different genre's of videos, then i highly highly suggest you don't watch my channel. I never once claimed to be coming from a place of research, and explicitly state multiple times that this is opinion based only. with that out of the way, lets actually address what you said, shall we? 1- if youre going to mention incest, you dont get to backtrack and say "but actually i just meant step siblings" especially when your video is about INCEST. of ALL forms. especially when he mentions adults and sibling relationships WITH incest. I really dgaf how other people perceive the chart, i am talking about the words leaving his mouth being incorrect 2 - i love watching long videos. The main form of content i watch are video essays, usually around the 1-2 hours mark. taking over 20 minutes to get to the point in a 30 minute video is LUDICRIOUS. i was able to get to the point within the first 10 minutes, and spent the other 20 minutes raging, and the last 10 explaining my point of view. 3 - the whole point in clueless IS challenging the status quo. i can read as many synopsis and summaries as i please, they all turn out the same. unless youre going to claim that every review i read was also lying, then this point is absolutely mute. the main messages are communication, empathy, and humility. on top of this, Andrew himself says that Clueless is worse than ACTUAL IRL INCEST which is beyond ridiculous to claim. Incest is bad in ALL FORMS. that is why we watch media to TELL US its BAD. its not hard to grasp that thats why we all frown on game of thrones, who doesn't frown upon incest in their shows. To compare clueless to alabama when clueless is about conjugal relationships is literally losing the ENTIRE PLOT. 4 - I never said i had issues with him citing it INCORRECTLY. i said i have issues with him framing this as "the movie of incest" as if it doesn't focus on a million other plot points. I've seen enough of clueless to know that the big issue in the movie is the age gaps. The incest in Clueless is up to morals, and up to subjective opinion depending on where someone stands on incest. Andrew obvious skews the way the movie is portrays as if the ENTIRE THING IS ABOUT INCEST which obviously is NOT true. He makes multiple jokes about "being related to your siblings" which isn't even the case with this movie, and lastly, his sources was reddit. My sources was CBR.com, IMDB.com, GradeSaver.com, and Letterboxd.com. If you want someone to make an actual review on these movies, hit up a movie reviewer, not someone who openly admits that their channel is based around OPINIONS. common sense would tell you that of COURSE the opinion based channel did opinion based research to state their OWN OPINION PUBLICLY. genuinely whats not clicking with that?? 5 - He defends it multiple times, saying that the plots "wasn't good enough" and that "them being step siblings makes no sense" as if he wants them to be ACTUAL SIBLINGS. he uses the same logic with game of thrones, and he says the same for veronica mars, which openly states it as a bad things. He is absolutely defending incest in this video, and at the end, even says that as we accept sexual liberation, we "need to accept incest in the media as well" as if thats EVER going to happen. It's not. 6 - either he makes the point that these are illegal, or they arent illegal, you literally cant have it both ways. You're either talking about the legality of america, or he's actively lying about the legality in other countries while hoping that nobody does the research. he never says that we "dont need to portray it in the media" seeing as Andrew gave multiple situations as so how it could be done BETTER. he as ADVOCATING for incest in the media. 7 - this in not related at all to what i said? I was stating that i dont trust his entire video seeing as it's already based in misinformation and twisting the truth of a movie to make it fit to real life standards, when it just doesnt. The only thing that does is game of thrones, because it was explicitly modeled after european royalty incest. the fact that he uses this to talk about P&P, VM, and Alabama is fucking INSANE behavior. These were NOT based off of the royalty, and go out of their way to break it and talk down on incest. He makes hte point that its "not good enough", AGAIN, for the millionth time. It seems your "problems" here are just defending incest yourself. The way he defend incest is not okay. I dont care if he's anazlying why it's normal, he himself IS attempting to normalize it, and even says he sounds pro-incest at multiple points, because we WAS.
Just watch the movie next time. Your take on his commentary sounded very shallow in the sense that you yourself didn't do proper research.
you heard a disclaimer of me saying this was based on opinions and feelings and then got mad when i didnt watch 5+ 2 hour long videos just to talk about why i think this guy is an idiot? I don't need to watch the movies to know how i feel about his video, and neither did any of the commenters.
@@AlyssaPerrine Mad is an over statement it sounded that you didn't give him a fair shot and turned words around.
i look his words as he said them. Literally the words he said.
@@AlyssaPerrine Lets stop here. You arent open for a different view.
Why would I be?
Am I missing the point? because what I understood from the video is the he is explaining why the incest trope is used in media. Basically he is explaining why this trope exists and why there is an audience that consumes these types of products. And honestly, with the movies that Netflix releases that add unnecessary plots like "step-siblings" or things like that, it's normal for someone to take a deep dive into why those kinds of stories exist in the first place. Imo, I don't think he justified it at any point.
There are multiple points through out the video where he explicitly says "if it was done better" as if there is a such things as a "better plot line" for incest. you can't make it good. there is no such thing as good incest, as he keeps trying to frame it through his entire video.
I think he means the portrayal of the story line. Are you one of those people who believe bad things should NEVER be portrayed in media? A lot of people use this arguments for rape scenes in media. If you're going to use them, write them better. Use less exploitative shots, have the inclusion actually matter to the story, acknowledge it. They did it after a few seasons of Outlander, they did it for OITNB. Bad shit happens. It's how you portray it in your story. Also, you should've watched Clueless before making the video.
@AlyssaPerrine "doing It better" means not doing It not making good incest
i consider watching my video because i very explicitly state my opinions on incest in the media. He's talking about incest being "not good enough" talking about PLOT LINES and saying that Odie from Gossip Girl having to deal with the consequences of sleeping with his sister a "bad thing" because we was written off the show. This isn't the only time he's tried to say that incest could "be a good plot point" throughout the video and uses real life situations to defend why incest in the media should have GOOD REPRESENTATION. we dont need good rep for incest. we need things we can frown at, and make our own moral commentary at. The fact that he thinks we need all this extra stuff to make it "better" is weird asf to me
@@AlyssaPerrine Again, "better" as in better representation. Written more cohesively, with actual meaning to it. Things like rape and murder and incest and all that taboo subject matter have a history of not being written very well in Hollywood. I've watched his video, and I've watched your video. It doesn't seem like you get it. You want everything negative that happens to be covered in a 4th wall, break of immersion, third person, "this is bad!" narrative. Straight forward, cold cut. "Good representation" doesn't mean "lets make incest hot and acceptable." It means, "hey, let's portray incest with human lenses and be objective with how bad it is, while also telling a story in which it can take place." Do you get upset when people describe Thanos as a good villain because he's genocidal? Or when people describe Hans Landa as a good villain even though he's a Nazi? Or the dad from Liar, Liar (1993) because he's a rapist? Do you understand good, better, etc, have other meanings than relations to morality?
Even though this isn't a guide, Thank you. I have a big case of writer's block.
Glad it was helpful!

After my cptsd diagnosis, i watched future. it was the hardest i've ever cried at a show. the hospital scene and the finale of future are some of the most heavy hitting scenes i've watched. SU does a wonderful job at exploring the development of trauma and the long-term effects of it. this topic has been on my mind for a very long time and i'm glad you made a video fully going into that, you did an amazing job at wording it. you even pointed out steven's fawn responses that i haven't picked up on because it is the norm for my own behavior. i've always seen videos saying future is a harmful, unrealistic representation of trauma and mental disorders which is so far from the truth. i'm glad there are others with cptsd can relate to this show's characters as much as i do! i would also like to add as a teenager growing up with unprocessed trauma and ongoing abuse, seeing steven not fit in with humans his age (in bismuth casual) because their experiences are so different resonated with me. i struggled my entire life to find friends growing up because of it. nearly every aspect of my own cptsd feels represented in SU:Future and it'll always be one of my favorite shows.

The part where you explain how steven is and is not his mom by saying she'll always be apart of him and comparing it to humans and the person that birth them is amazing. Ive (for some reason) never thought if it like that, how all humans have a connection to their parents/birth giver because its true. Whether or not you even knew/liked your mother they are one of the people that brought you into this world, that is a fact. Steven was never rose/pink diamond but will always have her with him(ie: his gem). Its just like how we have some features from our parents. Steven has his moms gem and powers, along with some new ones i believe, he has a mix of rose and gregs hair (with the color probably being from his grandparents since greg has brown hair and rose has pink in both forms.) I really do like this point, he is and isn't his mom because he WAS made by her and his dad, she will always be apart of him just like any of our parents. I always thought that in the last episode of the OG series when we see pink, rose, then steven reform as pink/gem steven that that was a way to show that Steven is his own person. That was literally the point of the show in the first place. And when i see fanfics or fan comics of an AU where steven dies and rose/pink comes back or pink being in his gem or them sharing a gem it makes me upset because the last episode literally shows that steven is Steven no matter what. But i do think what would happen when Steven inevitably dies, will his gem half stay? Will they both die? Will his gem half stay and be rose once again? Will his gem half be able to even mentally live although he is recovered? When we see him and his gem half reform/fuse together we can see pink/gem Steven smiling as they are finally whole, if gem steven is all thats left when steven dies how would he live? Yea hes alive but he is a gem, no not one that has feelings and all, he is literally pure POWER not a person cuz that part of stevens unique fusion is gone, the human part is gone.. Really does make me think, sorry for rambling in ur comments lol. Steven universe has been one of my special interests/comfort show for years now, i grew up with it since i was 6 or so, back on its 2nd year on the air when cable was a thing. Its literally one of the only things i can consistently consume and talk about years apart for hours on end. This video waa beautiful thank you!<33
I just finished the show like not even a week ago and I'm still in tears. I was not watching it as it came out and was binge-watching it, which I enjoyed greatly. This show helped me realize that I can love myself, and to trust the people who love me and care for me. I'm still working on my self-confidence issues and it's not easy to undo decades of self-hate (funnily enough Amethyst is one of my favourite characters), but I am trying. On the less pleasant side of things watching the show and the movie has shined a spotlight directly on me, and how I don't know how to recognize my own trauma. I've spent all of my life thinking I had no trauma, that I didn't get a minute to say anything when people talked about their stuff. A friend being abused emotionally by their family? Let them talk. Family member in a car accident? Let them talk. You (I am referring to myself here) think were ignored as a child and you witnessed someone dying? You are fine, be quiet and let people speak. For some reason I just never considered in any serious way that I would have trauma. I don't have access to a therapist anymore, and I cannot talk about this stuff to anyone else. It's still really weird to think that I have trauma, like putting on a mask but in reality I'm trying to take off my mask. I am autistic and I tend to mask all of the time even at home. I would run out of characters trying to describe everything that I feel in regards to the trauma and I really don't want to bog this down any more than I have already. Thank you for making this video and I hope that you're doing well.
I love Steven Universe sm❤
Something wonderful about that climax - mechanically speaking, within the rules of the universe, we know corruption can be healed by the essence of all four diamonds. The other three diamonds were all crying, but it wasn't until Steven was able to cry for himself that he could heal. Combined with that, we get all the hugging, and Connie's kiss (a mirror of Steven's healing kiss but a trigger for self-healing rather than an external magical source of healing), showing the healing power of support and love. It doesn't heal all by itself but it provides the environment we need to heal ourselves. Just a gorgously put-together moment, all around. Though to me the most powerful moment in the whole series is Steven sitting in the doctor's office realizing absolutely nothing about his life has been normal or healthy up until that point. When you're a kid, the idea of not having to go to school, never going to the doctor or dentist, a parent who never punishes you or tells you what to do, the opportunity to go on dangerous adventures - that all sounds like an awesome time. Watching the show, especially the early show, from the perspective of a child (Steven's perspective!) it all looks fun and light hearted. But Steven spent so much of even the first season desperately lonely and seeking structure, affection and belonging, constantly talking down about himself, wandering around trying to occupy himself and having a hard time relating to "normal" people around town despite his desire to connect. It's a tiny town but Steven barely knows anybody in it - he'd never even met (in his memory) Vidalia, who seems to have been Greg's best and maybe only human friend and who is also friends with Amethyst, despite her living super close and being the parent of a kid he knows who ALSO runs around unsupervised all the time. Steven's poor therapist is going to need a whole support team.
Do part 2 of the weird message roblox 😭🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

@@AlyssaPerrine*waiting for part 2*🤗

@@AlyssaPerrine oka!
I've been waiting for a video like this for so long it's so VALIDATING that I'm not the only person with CPTSD that feels this way
lol no
Aaaaaahhhhh good video. I mean I should've expected deep stuff from a steven universe trauma video, but augh this is really hitting
Interesting video, but I think you missed the point of most of the items: It's not laziness, it's automation. If your home is too hot, have the curtains close automatically. If it's too cold, have the thermostat run by itself. The air quality detector thinks the quality is too low ? Run the HVAC a bit stronger for a few minutes, automatically. You also sometime miss the point of some items. The wifi extender you showed is actually so that you can remotely manage your *Bluetooth* security lock. Same goes for the transformer, it's meant for outdoor use, where you can't easily place connected lightbulbs outside, so you control it from somewhere else. The Luna controller is meant for, well, Luna, the game streaming service from Amazon. True, the Alexa integration is (probably) useless, but the controller itself has a purpose. The Echo Link is meant for people who want to use Amazon Music HD with their (very) expensive headphones or sound systems. The EarBuds and the glasses tho ? Yeah that's kinda dumb I agree
oh i FULLY agree, i just think its so crazy how far automation has gone! there's so many things that the average person wouldn't need but so many things that just help ease daily life
I’ve been waiting for a video like this, always really connected with Steven’s story, thanks for covering this :)
well made video 👍🏿
This show helped me process my own trauma, and helped me realize my own neurodivergence as well. It's a beautiful, respectful representation of PTSD and childhood trauma. Its also one of my special interests, lol. Be cringe and be free! People are really starting to realize how good this show was in retrospect and Im so glad for it. Inspiring me to finally make that giant video disecting Rose Quartz as a character, since people still arent fully getting it lol. Love this.
