Big Paul's Garage
Добавлен 5 мар 2008
It's all about the cars. I am mainly a Mopar guy but love all makes and models. My goal is to get old classic cars back on the road to be enjoyed and driven reliably. Some of the cars on this channel are my own, some are not. We see so much shoddy work done to these old cars it is not funny. Making "how to" videos and putting them on the net/RUclips makes this information available for future generations. After all, it's all about the cars.

US Car Tool level 2 chassis stiffening kit installed on a 1972 Plymouth Satellite. Some say this kit is actually the E Body kit. It does require a lot of fitting and grinding. Take a look.
Remove old weather strip adhesive and install new weather strip

Years old hard dry weather strip adhesive is not easy to clean off. What works best? How to actually apply weather strip adhesive without using too much and making a mess.

The brackets are a universal fit which means they don't fit anything without modification. This is how I decided to install them.

Beautiful car, don't let it go, it's a show car.
Saw this car in person. Very nice example of a Crossfire SRT.
Neat car & cool walk around, thnx. I have a '93 LeBaron convertible for a summer car in Wi here. It's not as clean as that Crossfire, but is solid...no rust. 3.0L Mitsu is decent, 170k mi and still runs perfect. So fun :) & Yeah, NCC-1701a was in the Star Trek movies of the 80's! Nice :)
Brilliant!! Thanks!
Good video Paul. I went back to using a prestolite dual point in my small block. If you want a retard on it you can hook up the secondary points to a toggle switch like old Bill "Grumpy " Jenkins did back in the day. I am just sick of all the outsourced electronics we get now, it's all JUNK!!! You pay a lot for it and it fails. I went through 3 electronic control boxes in one summer, so I switched back to old school as I said in one of my bitch session videos lol
The #Kodillac is a 73 Eldorado sitting on a fully functional 4500 Kodiak duramax chassis. He drove that down from NH towing a skidsteer
If they drove that from NH = New Hampshire, he has balls of steel and fears nothing. lol.
@@BigPaulsgarage-v9p I drove it from NH to FL and back towing a smoker trailer. Then he drove it from NH to AZ towing a skidsteer. It rides just like a Kodillac
Giffin's Performance brought it with junk mail the ls swapped dj5 jeep
Love the 65 body style.Sweet old school street race car probably why no cage.
MSRP?
Damn, i want and need that.
It is sold. Thanks
Hey guys he’s being sarcastic!! I know Paul, he’s the one who probably laid those marks 😂
He who smelt it dealt it. 😊
Says the same guy who tells kids to get off his lawn 😂
Your mom
I can’t believe somebody would legit make a video and take the time to post it. Online bitching about tire marks in a road. 🤯
Boo hoo its a road
My bad bro 😔
You're doing it .
It’s a beautiful truck. Paul’s a friend of mine. He takes care of his vehicles.
Great video! I love how you show the track failed and how and why you remedy this issue. Thank you very much!
What shoes did you use? I see. O rivet holes!
Good tip, most guys have a pipe wrench in their tools.
AWESOME vid great info....MOPAR 4 EVER.
I have a 6AL from ‘98 that still works, surprisingly! I’ve read the old ones are better quality.
My MSD Digital 6 Plus box recently failed completely! Those suckers are $650 now. I am not impressed!
Unfortunately corporate greed has replaced quality.
That's a box is around 20 years old
I tossed mine away they made my spark plug 1, 7, 2, 8 not firing ..Just use basic ignition
You think msd gives two , they are designed to fail after warranty they have it down to a science, go crane or go Daytona sensors
I installed the Progression Ignition performance distributor and love it so far.
That's normal
Beautiful car. I like the 3rd generation more than second. These Chargers look more modern and sporty. The got not so performant engines from factory but that's nothing what can not be changes if someone wants. This one look fantastic, very sleak design and look. Great job! 😊😍🥰
Great info on carbs👍
I have an 84 d150 that’s not charging and I was checking voltage at the alternator and the field terminals and with the key on I was getting battery voltage from the input post on the alternator like you should and I was getting battery voltage on the spade connector side of the field wires and nothing off the field terminals on the alternator like I’m back feeding voltage to the alternator thru the field wires. Any thoughts?
There are 2 field wires on the back of the alternator. One of them should have battery voltage with the key on, plus or minus 0.5 volt, the other goes to the voltage regulator mounted on the firewall. The voltage regulator applies ground potential to that wire, that is how it regulates the output of the alternator. The voltage regulator must have a very solid ground made through the mounting screws to work properly. First, make sure you have good grounds from engine to firewall, battery to engine, battery to chassis, and that the voltage regulator has a good ground. For testing the alternator, ground the alternator field terminal that has the green wire on it, pull the green wire off and ground the terminal, do not ground the green wire that goes to the regulator, with key on make sure you have battery voltage at the other field terminal on the alternator, the one with the blue wire. With engine running with this configuration the battery voltage should go very high, like 18 volts or more. If voltage stays low, or close to battery voltage the alternator is bad.
"Don't notice much difference between overdrive and lockup." Glad to hear that. For simplicity sake, I'm swapping the 727 in my 1990 Cummins 1st Gen with a 46RH (A518). Direct bolt-in, nothing fancy. Just want to get the truck over 64 mph without having to floor it (Had to replace the original .307 Dana 70 rear axle with a .355 remanufactured one).

Thought I was in the clear having a box from 2001 thinking it was before the China ones, guess not. Mine took a crap and I’m researching trying to figure it out on repair.
Sounds like a timing issue to me. Check your distributer gear.
I like the Summit ignition boxes, 145 mJ multispark part no. 850620
You have wrong coil on that car you better learn what your doing before you keep burning up msd 6al box because your using a msd 2 coil you need msd 3 blaster for the horse power your putting to that hemi
Make sure your using right coil for horsepower I have 800hp msd 6al will only use msd 3 blaster if coils not correctly to msd box it will burn your box up iv had my msd 6al for 14yr no problem
My MSD PULLS .9 amps when car is off. I have bypassed the MSD and installed the stock system since I do not race anymore.
Nice Charger! I would add a Tuff steering wheel. Thermoquad is a nice carb. Have the stock unit in our Lil Red. The A57 Rallye option also included hood pins and the slotted exhaust tips. I had a 1974 Charger Rallye 400 Magnum, 4 spd pistol grip. KY5 yellow blaze with V6R graded reflective rallye stripe. Only bitch is the wheels. The 15 inch magnum 500 wheels would look killer on your car. Just my opinion. I miss the 4 spd!!! The hood stripe was painted via factory. Yours is a aftermarket styled after the 1971 hood stripe minus the Bee or R/T lettering. Nice the buzzer still works. Nice car!!
Doesn't anyone realize that if I have a choice to buy a product made in USA, and it's of good quality, and cost more, we are going to buy it ?
Someone well versed in electronics needs to dismantle one of these boxes. Tell us how it's put together. What upgrades to make them more durable. I figure. Some kind of pre voltage regulator, voltage surge protector. Or even something like a variac . When I have had one of these boxes working, I might as well as fry an egg on it. Maybe even run better heat sinks and a cooling fan ?
Way too common of failure rate.
Chinese junk
Love a factory 4-speed Charger like this. I have always leaned more toward drivability over massive performance. Did you ever sell this beauty? I also love your garage setup with the extra height and the 4-post lift. Nice!
Beautiful car. My ques is could you get the hideaway headlites in 1973??
Not in 73 or later. Hideaway headlights were only available in 1971 and 1972 on the 3rd generation Charger.
You gotta make sure you ground that sucker real good I got 10 years out of mine ground straight to the battery
Sweet ride.👍👌
