XV920 | EPISODE 15 - Engine Assembly Pt. 1
Hello there Smiley's Garage, Its been over 2 months since your last full video. How much longer do we have to wait ? If you could put out a video about once a month , that would be much better for all your viewers, subscribers. Thank you 😊
Did you use the 4l60e neutral safety switch or the stock one from the car?
I don't remember doing anything specific with the safety switch. As far as I know, the engine start solenoid is mechanically locked out via the column shift when it's not in park
@SmileysGarage i got a floor shift. So it's different
Thank you for this AWESOME VIDEO. I am working on a 1987 El Camino. Did you use the same hole as the original ECU to enter the engine bay?
Yep. Same hole. I bought a cheap rubber grommet off amazon to fill the hole. It works ok. I might upgrade to a 2-piece unit in the future
WOW!!! That was a great video. I’m going to watch it again :-)
👍🏿
I tore down an 83 xv920 and using it on a go kart. So far only trouble I run into is wiring cause the harness was butchered when I got it and I don’t know what goes to what.
That sounds like a lot of fun. If you have facebook, check out Mike's First Gen Virago Group. They have wiring diagrams there. There should also be some if you google 1983 Virago Wiring Diagrams. Good luck!
What will she do pegged balls to the wall?
Great install, very motivating for me since I ha the same exact car 87 El Co. I have the same motor mounts. My problem is I don’t know what wires to remove from the original harness?
That is a massive complicated heavy duty motor. Thanks. 😊
Small channels this Our Year 🙏🏽‼️‼️‼️🙏🏽Great work I’m subbed in 💪🏽📈
Very interesting & informative, thanks!
Thanks man!
Great video. I’ve got a quick question for you. Did you have trouble with getting the 4l60 to connect with your motor? I’ve having a clearance issue in the tunnel with mine. I only ask cause I’m using the same motor mounts and oil pan you’re using.
I had no issues joining the trans to the engine all. I do have the mounts in the forward position so that might be the difference? The transmission slid right in.
What do you mean by forward position? The first bolt hole?
On the frame
Is the bottom mount that bolts to the frame in the first hole on the frame like in the video, with your motor mount slid all the way forward?
@@fields82elco62 I just posted a short to my channel showing a closer look at the engine mounts. The frame part is stock position, the engine part is slid all the way forward
4160, 4150.. tuning is amazing. Can't stand efi. Don't wanna understand it- new sub, great project!!
"C'mon, that's bad even for me" haha
Hello There Smiley’s Garage, Thank you very much for another video. You do interesting work, I like it.
Good to see the progress Please do something with that bluetooth frame before you launch it on the road That is scary under there Coming along good though 👍
It'll be fiiinnneeeeeee Not planning on ever launching this really. What parts concern you the most?
Congrats bro!
Great to see her back on the road Liking your channel Time to step up video releases Cheers 🍻
Thanks for the love! There's still some paperwork to deal with on this guy. Waiting for all my ducks to be in a row before i send the final video on it.
@@SmileysGarageHello there Smiley’s Garage, What do you mean by final video ? Are you planning to sell your motorcycle ? If so, then for how much $$$ ?
Dear Smiley’s Garage, I enjoy your videos but you do a poor job of answering my comments or questions. Also, to have to wait 2 whole months plus for your next video is difficult. Is there any way you could step up the pace ?
@@GarysnewYT hi there. Life gets in the way sometimes and I miss some things I'm lucky if I get into the garage once a week. It takes a while to get enough footage for one episode and then organizing and editing the video takes a few days as well. I appreciate your comments and views but I'm a busy man and this RUclips thing isn't always a priority
@@GarysnewYT yes I eventually plan to sell the XV920
What setting do you put your welder on? 3 and MAX?
Varies by the day. I have no idea what I'm doing
Please don’t spare any details!! PLEASE!!😂 I have a 81 CABALLERO.
Some things have to be edited out to keep the videos interesting but let me know if you got questions on parts or something. Thanks for the watch!
@@SmileysGarage yes sir I understand!!
Letssssss gooooooo!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hello There Smiley’s Garage, I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you. 😊
nice work! inspiring/ what headers are you using?
speed engineering 1"3/4 A-body F-body Long-tubes. Stainless. I had to really massage them to work, there's probably better options out there
Good to see the camino back Gonna be a burnout monster
I just tripled the horsepower going to that poor 7.5" rear end. I think if I even attempt a burnout, I'll grenade that thing. We'll see what the dyno says.
Hello there Smiley's Garage, You're back, thanks my friend. 😊
I have the same set up on my bike. Including the Mustang seat.
Pricey but worth it. Of all the mods I did to that bike, the seat was the best investment.
I have 2013 yamaha vstar touring 950 the rear brake caliper is get stuck after 10 minutes drive i change the brake hose and master cylinder .and still after 10 minutes wants to get stuck.what can it be
That's a lot of troubleshooting work already. is the brake pedal returning to the proper position? The piston inside the caliper might be getting stuck. Is the caliper bracket bent at all (are the pads parallel to the rotor?) good luck
Dear Smiley’s Garage, I really enjoy watching you work and how you explain things. You try hard and give you much credit for that. Please continue on my friend. You are doing just fine and your camera angles are very good. Thank you for this video. 😊. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you so much! I'm trying to improve my editing and camera work.
Dear Smileys Garage, How are you today ? Good I hope. How is your car project coming along ? It’s been a whole month or so, when will you come out with another video ? Just curious is all. 😊
@@GarysnewYT Hello!! My life is very full lately. Hopefully within the next two weeks i'll have a video out. I appreciate you checking in!
@@SmileysGarageThank you so very much . I really appreciate your videos and how you talk about your project and how you work. Thank you , my friend. 😊
king shit
Where do you get your parts
Mainly Rock Auto. Front lower controls arms were Ebay
Hello Smiley's Garage, How is it going ? Good, I hope. I miss your Repair videos. When will you post a new video ? I was just wondering. 😊 Thanks
Hi Gary! Real-life has been busy. I'm still working on the car but I don't have enough content for a video yet. One will be coming soon. Thanks for checking in!
@@SmileysGarage Dear Smiley’s Garage, How are you doing today ? How’s your car doing? Are you going to finish your Yamaha 750 motorcycle project ? Thank you 😊
I bought a transmission rebuilding course. Was it easy for the first time?
I wouldn't consider it easy. I had to pay close attention to the videos and triple check some measurements. I had to make some special tools and purchase some others. But I'm glad I did it! Check out The Transmission Bench Channel on RUclips, that's the series I followed for the 4l60e
You got a subscription and thumbs up from me!! I’ll be binge watching your channel tonight!!🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!! I appreciate your enthusiasm!
Engine sounds great. You’re doing a great job. You got this .
Engine Looking pretty. I enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Looking good.
Awesome
At least you tried
Hello There Smiley’s Garage, I like your videos because you have good motivational drive, determination, good attitude, and don’t sugar coat your hard work or the project you are working on. Glad to see you back. Thank you very much for your videos. Good job. 😊
Hi Gary welcome back. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the kind words.
Why do you have a rely for a starter relay? I’m just asking
nice work! now keep rollin and get that beast in your car!!
Awesome!!!
If you head on over to ElCaminoCentral you'll find another elky named Ms.Ellie as well as all sorts of help or info on these trucks, since much of what's important about old school has been forgotten by teachers of modern day techs.
Wow, RTV? Friggin o-ring is mad cheap!!!
Can't make this stuff up!
No kidding ROFLMFAO!!!!!
Looking good! I've never done a project of this scope but it always feels good to set the ratchet from loosen to tighten and break out the torque wrench. Looking forward to the next video
Thanks! You're absolutely right. And what a privilege it is to work with clean parts as well!
Making good progress .looking great. Gonna be a killer car
Hey Darren thanks for the watch and comment! Yes progress is very exciting, albeit a tad slow.
Oh, a real junkyard engine. Yet I heard if it spun, it won
Haven't heard that one before haha
Sht happens Sucks that the motor wasn’t better Don’t loose momentum Have a great new year 🎉 Cheers
Thanks! Not gonna let it stop me.
