Imagine an open-world game where your main mission is the defense of your farm from creatures that come from portals. You can upgrade your defenses to add walls, turrets, an upgradable bunker, but your main is a mech that you customize personally. You can explore the world, do quests, but the main mission is defending your home when a portal opens. And players in the world and your friends can help you defend yours, contributing, almost like The Forest. And the time would be fair because there would be designated wait times for the next portal to open. Giving you time to build up your defenses, do quests, and get back home qhen the time gets close. And there could be rewards to other quests that would tempt you to be away.
