Megan Hilty's PERFECT ACTING in Thank Goodness (Live from "Wicked")
While Megan didn't hit the optional high note in this performance (see the other video I posted for that), this is still my favourite recorded performance of her singing Thank Goodness because her acting is so good here!

The promo for Wicked the Soundtrack 2024 shows Ari doing the high note for No One Mourns the Wicked, but if she's also gonna do it for Thank Goodness, I'm a Munchkin's uncle.
Before she was China Princess in Legends of Oz (2014) she was Glinda
Megan was the best Glinda.
Ariana Grande is doing the same opt up for NOMTW. although there's no leak of her Thank Goodness, I'd assume they did the opt up too

This is Glinda. Too many make her cartoonish all the way to the end. This song is perfect to show the nature/emotional side to her and Megan nails it.
I would kill to hear Megan Hilty sing The Best in the World from A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine. She is incredible here!
Wow, Megan!!!!!! Nice vibrato, love it! HOLY MAZZILLO!!!!! Fortunately it's not like 90 percent of most opera singers who have the unavoidable WOBBLE. You've been lucky to have been trained to avoid the wobble epedemic, proud of you!!!!! Mazzillo by the way is the name of my favorite deceased Italian bagpipes maker. A 1970s recording of him playing a set can be heard on my channel LOL.

Megan is so underrated as then”whole package”. The voice, the acting, dancing, looks…EVERYTHING!! 15 out of 10.
I love this, it’s like the director was , hey do this song your own way, it’s not Popular, you don’t have to be Kristin. Whereas during Popular you could tell she was expected to do it just like Kristin, but here she put her own spin on it.

For me, it's STILL Kristin and Megan. They're the ABSOLUTE embodiment of Glinda -- and they're both vocal geniuses.
What I love is how they both knocked this song out of the park in very different ways. Kristin made me feel the character's remorse and regret while Megan made me feel like the character was still trying to rationalize and accept her choices.

Not to EVER diminish what Megan did with this song, but I think Katie Rose Clarke had the best and most devistating acting in this song. It was insane. And I've never seen anything like it. I'm so sad most of her videos have been taken down

Yes, the lyric, "there's a kind of a sort of cost, there's a couple of things that get lost, there are bridges you crossed you didn't know you crossed until you crossed" hits me in the feels every single time
She's my glinda. Saw her twice at the Pantages in Los Angeles. She's hits every emotional note PERFECTLY in this scene, and the vocal notes are out of this world, of course.
same here.. was blown away. sadly it lost it's mojo when they came back on the traveling tour to the Segerstrom in OC. took my family so they could experience it, but felt disappointed. couldn't put my finger on it. ah well. we have our memories.

I mentioned in one of my theatre groups that I wanted to see a revival of "Guys And Dolls", with Megan and Laura Benanti. But in my version, Laura is playing Adelaide, and Megan is playing Sarah. Some people questioned whether Megan could handle it, so I just them this video. I'm proud to say I changed some minds.

And that other crazy part is.... Glinda has to sing some really low notes during the show too. The end of the Not That Girl reprise is a low G and she sings a low Ab in For Good. And she has to sing in belt voice for Popular. Both Glinda and Elphaba are INSANE roles vocally.
it’s why so many glindas and elphabas have vocal damage and why the contracts are so short ( compared to other broadway roles)
AND ELPHABA HAS TO SING AN E3 DURING I'M NOT THAT GIRL! the ranges these characters require is insaneee. Thank god both our leads in the movie have that range! Cynthia's most famous song goes down to a D3 and she does it without problems and ariana is known for her high stuff anyways. I think we're in good hands
