The first lady broke my broke my
Why on earth would you arrest someone for doing that. The next time it rains, it's all gone. If you make a law to govern human beings then, like human beings, the law should have a heart.
That's why I have clear covers over my tags. They are clearly readable while directly behind but any angle such as height or angles from the sides and the cover shows opaque and tag cannot be read. No one needs to be able to access my info except for the cop that pulls me over. Have had these on all my cars for over 7years and have had zero issues. Fuck red light cameras and tag readers. Ain't gonna get me....
so if somebody gets mugged in the parking lot, will these cameras be useful, or are they just for license plates?
So it's mostly an APB checker, but they can load their own profiles into it as well.
1) Shoplifting "shrinkage" doesn't cut into profits for the retailer. The cost is passed to the customer, inflated prices at checkout, you spend the same and the retailer gets the same but you get less. 2) You can bet this surveillance, recording, tracking will end up being sold to the data brokers. They will offer money to obtain more data points. It's unrealistic to assume retailers will refuse this "free" money.
This is one more example of private business believing themselves to be our big brother. This would be a great idea if only law enforcement was allowed to use it, and only for preventing capital or near capital offenses such as murder, rape, kidnapping, terrorism etc. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Private license plate readers are used more often then not by repossession companies to look for marks, religious anti abortion groups to track those who legally go to clinics, and bad actors who stalk and monitor individuals for whatever non reasons those bad actors have for their nosy behavior. As a result, the only good kind of automated license plate reader is one used specifically by law enforcement to prevent and solve heinous crimes against humanity, and no more. We need our legal system to reflect this fact so that we aren't converted into a totalitarian society ruled by big business and the super rich.
I remember a lady telling me not to worry about tracking cameras...only a criminal would hide. She then got out her book and started reading it. The book was "The diary of Anne Frank"
"So it could help stop repeat offenders" Yes - it _could_ . But probably wont. Just will be used to create a database of which car shops where and what they bought to sell to retailers. And a list of who is sleeping with who. Read about a town in Kansas(?) 10 years or so ago that installed plate readers in the police cruisers and at all the entrance road to the city. Had all the same hoopla used here to sell it to the citizens (it was very expensive). In 6 years, it was used to solve ZERO crimes. A news crew looked at the data and the worst case was a stolen car had entered/exited/been scanned in the town one hundred fifty times over 2 years and nobody lifted a finger to do something about it.
It's amazing how many people don't mind being spied on constantly. Good luck with that.
Certain news organizations are really pushing their viewers to extreme paranoia, and those folks will absolutely give up freedoms (both theirs and yours) if it makes them feel better about those perceived 'threats.' And those murderous shoplifters are getting higher on their list. ;-)
Lol in NYC people ooften don't bother with license plates
Anymore, in many urban municipalities especially, these license-reader cams can be an effective crime-deterrent and/or facilitator in catching criminals in this day & age of organized "smash 'n' grab" of 'brick & mortar' retailers and carjackings in parking areas. Unfortunately, one obvious shortcoming would have to be addressed is if a get-away vehicle(s) is stolen. Is this system time sensitive in this regard and can it be connected to police databases that store/list stolen vehicles?
At the same token, what happens if a car reported stolen, but recover later and never removed from the system?
What happens when a shop-lifter sells a vehicle?
2019: look, the Chinese are screwed. They live in a full surveillance state. 2020-2023: retail theft skyrockets and other crimes. Ok, we need more cameras to catch these bad guys. 2024: cameras prove effective and we are now safe again. 2025: USA becomes a surveillance state. 2026: citizen fines skyrockets, shifting loss of revenue from businesses to loss of funds from citizens. Very western approach. 👌
It's easy to police the law abiding and there's money to be made.
Theft is getting out of hand, but so is our right to privacy. When do they start 'chipping' the newborns?! I'm certain our sick governments already have a plan for that.
It will probably come soon when the police will want that information for parking tickets and other small petty things.
Not waste of time or money If you're going to say something say it right

Hi
The first lady broke my heart, hope she is better and moving forward. Great job for our 🔥 fighters.
I know this guy damn missed him used to be westbrook fire department
Oof goes my insurance
You know, it is absolutely disgusting how we pay so much in taxes in the USA and yet we can't get decemt insurance or medical care without major financial sacrifice that most simply can't afford. Especially the elderly, having to choose between food and medication that they need to live. Yet the folks who don't want to work can have ALL the "help" they need, becoming a drain on the rest of us. I love living in tbe US but I hate it at the same time. WE CAN DO BETTER!!!
I feel bad for the kid
This is why universal health care is nessessary.
Rosemarie Aguilera [Priest ES] The downside of universal healthcare is that it results in long wait times, people being turned away, and people ultimately dying while waiting for care. When I was in Canada last summer, I met someone who nearly died of appendicitis because the hospital she went to was full to capacity, and the nearest hospital was three hours away across the border in the US. Guess what? The US hospital took her back immediately. Go figure.

Ironic that more US citizens have probably died due to inhumane policies of the government than by terrorist attack. In fact, forget the probably, it would be definitely.
