Crazy dive in 170ft off Sarasota. This spot is known for sharks and good fish. My dive buddy shot a good AP and it ripped his speargun out of his hands.

My first time shooting an Amberjack or fish this big, it was a wild ride.

Dude... I put up some clown videos, but this one was over top! How many shafts into a holed up red grouper? and then "good job" afterwards....LOL seriously I was laughing out loud when the third shaft went into the holed up grouper that was shot two times before (for a total of 5 shots)? A couple of ideas.. don't need two bands to shoot a second shaft into a speared red grouper, be more aware of where your buddy is when loading the gun... spinning 25 or 45 degrees is a good habit when loading (misfires are much more likely at the time of loading) and you can still keep an eye on buddy, you need to spin the shafts to pull them out rather than brute force slamming them backwards, and you can stab the fish with a lot more control and effectiveness and safety if you do it in a controlled manner, also.. depending on geometry etc. sometimes it is easier to grab the knife, kill the grouper in the hole before pulling it out- rather than keep spearing it and ruining all the meat. Once they are dead they relax and you can often spin them around turn them and pull them out. Sometimes you can carefully do all that in the hole by touch alone, but you have to work the knife slowly and deliberately. Sometimes I have even ripped out a couple gill arches, left him in the hole with the shaft and come back 90 seconds later when they are much more relaxed due to the blood loss.

Slipper lobster. I never seem to notice them. Need to train my eyes i guess.
Right! I’m the same never gotten one of my own yet. I’m still relatively new to diving about a year or so in so I’m sure they will come. My buddy spotted these when he pulled a grouper he shot out of the hole.
You have the line on backwards the bungee goes next to the gun
@@georgebennett932 this is a newer gun for me just couldn’t remember how to line it free shaft. Thought I have been slightly narced after I watched this. I have friends with the same one and this is how Koah has them set up from the factory.

@@CMSpearfishing I haven’t had it long either, so much so , never used it. Does the holder towards the tip loosen up over time? I can only pull the spear completely out by sliding it all forward
@@winstonsmith4003 mine hasn’t yet. I have to slide mine up out of the but stock then I can get it out of the top holder. Sounds like that’s what you’re doing.
@@winstonsmith4003 run a small file on the lips of the clip. A little bit at a time until it comes out better
It’s crazy how they fight. I shot one similar and thought I had stoned it. I got my hands on it and it was thrashing like crazy. Flooded my mask, but at least I didn’t lose the mask.
Yeah it was a wild ride. This one knocked my mask and flooded it too. Excited for the next big fish.
