As a kid I grew up with motocross in the seventies, and was a huge fan of Roger De Coster. The race-footage you see here in this video, was taken at my hometown Stekene (Belgium) It was one of the most spectacular motocross race-tracks of Europe during those days. The late Pierre Troch was my father and organisator of that race that took place for decades at Pentecost. From the 50's until 1982....

It’s awesomee
GOLD !
What a collection of names - a who who's of MX.
I thought it was Joel Robert, not Gaston Rahier? And Sylvain Geboers!! Priceless!
Wow! Back when Motocross was raced on real tracks. This video reminds me why I was attracted to motocross in the first place! Today's tracks, not so much.
Clearest vintage footage I’ve seen need more !

When men were men
I love the late 60's mid 70's motocross....thanks fot the posts👍👍👍👍👍
I see Weil and Bauer have their shocks on the Maicos mounted in the conventional location. This has to be earlier in the year in 73 because when team Maico showed up at Carlsbad in June for the USGP we all no what happened there and how the genie was now out the bottle....love the old stuff and the track is bitchen....what track was that and was that Robert racing a RH in that race? Looks like he wasn't having a good day
It was on Pentecost, June 10th 1973. Track was in Stekene (Belgium) where the Pentecost Trophy would take place from 1952 until 1982. Robert was riding the RH73.
I can smell the Castrol 2 stroke exhaust.
Motocross in the glory/golden years.....look at the Maico's, CZ's, Huskies, Yamahas, Suzuki's.....Hallman chest protectors, open face helmets, jofas and even Heckel boots. I know a lot of my european heroe's are in there, must watch again👍👍👍👍👍...saw a Puch, maybe Robert in the open class?
Think I jast saw Lackey with the blue helmet and red Husky jersey and leathers.....jofas rule!!!!
Correct
Look at "The Man" in action and Jak VanVelthoven in G.P. action.....this is the beginning of the end of the best era of motocross in my youth (1969-1978) when the European gods and originators still ruled the sport. Wonder where Lackey was....I pretty sure I misspelled Jak's name....I'll have to watch again and look at the Maico riders....thanks for posting👍
Jaak
Beautifull vintage wish i was there and wish we could go back to these times of great sounds of twostroke smell of the husqavarnas and jap anese bikes and european very crsp sounds of loverly years of the best of times is vintage 1970s and early 80s aircooled air vintage heaven in europe
Roger De Coster riding the 400 Suzuki Cyclone ( a factory edition!). The actual 400 Cyclone "for sale" to the public was a widow maker!
That is a factory RM refered to as a RH....the Cyclones were history by the time Suzuki introduced the the RM series.....
The bike Roger was riding was awesome, and the production 1975 RM 370 was one of the most competitive showroom bikes of the time.
Roger always made it look so easy and so smooth. An artist at work.😊
Supremacia total 2 tempos!✌
Nice piece. Which desert is this..
In the first few minutes, those were the most elegantly dressed motocross fans I've ever seen.
It was a time and an era when there was respect and dignity for these brave men.
I love seeing footage of decoster, it's so rare but a real treat to watch "the Man" at his craft
i was at a gp in europe ~ 77 gerrit wolsink broke down on a 500. we talked for amoment when he was waiting for his mechanic.... i said "did you try this" in german. he stated in english "do you see something". i jumped the snow fence and pushed on the coil wire going into the coil...under the tank of course so i had to feel around. "try start", the damn bike started and he rejoined the race.... in those days in europe the pits are wide open so i went to visit him at suzuki. he shoke my hand and thanked me he finished 6th but better than DNF. i got a picture with the mechanics and gerrit and roger. i had a very good time talking with them and hanging out for a few minutes... highlight of my racing stories. i raced with roger a few times at saddleback when they were testing. i went to lunch with roger once he is a great ambassadour to the sport i am so proud to be a part of! good video great pictures brings back memories!
Loving your video ;0)
Great vid. Thanks for posting. I feel like i’m there..
👍❤️
👍❤️
❤️❤️👍
Thanks for the great video. We actually were fast back in those days, sure felt like it to me
Yes, y’all were fast⚡️the bikes were fast too then.
I started racing at age 15 in 1973 on my TM125. Roger was my hero!
I started when I was 15 in 1969. First bike was a stripped down Yamaha at1 125. 2nd bike was a 1971 RT1 360 MX. Started racing at the dunes.
Me too! Same age, same year, same bike, same hero!
best years and bikes of motocross, natural terrain , no massive super cross style roller coaster jumps
I wish you had The Who,e Thing ! Thanks for Posting 🦾🏁
These are fantastic era photos from a great race. Thanks to johan troch for all of his efforts sharing this outstanding event who’s time has sadly came and gone…
Subbed!

the sound of these 70s two strokes bring me back
I started on a 1979 KX80A. It was so fast for me as a kid. Loved that bike😎I still ride to this exact day…all 2-stroke MX bikes (just larger cc’s)⚡️😎

This CL-IP reminds me of what it's been like wearing this IAM tattoo around "all these years" Lonely to realize who I really AM.
Love the sound of those 2 strokes...the only thing missing is the smell....
Magnífico! ✌
so sweet, very touching, dramatic(((( <3 <3 <3
Very Good Ian Curtis impersonation.
