The new look Outlander PHEV has been released in New Zealand ahead of most countries. Apart from small differences it should be the same as all other countries once released.
Great video for a sound system upgrade into a Mitsubishi Outlander. There is not much info so this was great. I have a 2023 VRX Outlander. I upgraded the sub woofer with a 12" Cerwin VegaVPAS12ST - 12" 2Ω Powered Active Spare Tire Subwoofer. I want to upgrade the door speakers next. Some good quality 6 X 9. I have a question. When you upgraded the amplifier. Could you still control the the sytem on the steering wheel controls and also on the touch screen interface?
Does the car feel different on electric mode vs gas mode?
depends, if you are going up hill the engine can be quite loud. Also sometime when you need to put your foot down there can be a bit of a jerk. Under normal driving you don't notice the engine coming on
@@detailedreviews4837 Thank you for the reply!!
0-60 7.2 in power mode. thanks
Can i know how much did that cost? Thanks for the video
Have you tried towing a caravan?
Great Info there's very little information about the Bose system in the 2023 phev. When I put on music and go back there I could hardly hear any sound coming out of the subwoofer.
Hi There, Like you I don't think the standard system is adequate for a car in this range\class. I ended up replacing my speakers with Focal's. Even the Subwoofer (Focal 5" SUB5 KM) and with the subwoofer box sound deadening. Also sound deadening the doors. Its made a huge improvement. Still need that pounch, so next thing is to replace the Amp. Just wondering was the wiring easily identified and did you lose any functionality with the head unit with the Amp you installed.
The Zapco fitted perfectly into the where the Bose amp fits. Not enough power for a sub but plenty for the rest
Everything still works the same as before , just need to balance navigation volume afterwards
@@detailedreviews4837 Thanks
So the sub is fitted in the left side, not under the floor of the 3rd tow of seats? Did you put the 3rd of seats back in? Did you just leave in the fitted sub? Do you not miss decent bass with your setup now?
With the PHEV it only has the sub to the left. The non PHEV has one in the boot space as well. I still have it in use but it is useless. I need to get a better solution but am not keen on having a box sub in the boot
I put the third row back but not sure why. I will never need them
Yeah, i dont want a big box in the boot either, the boot is small enough as it is. Wondering about leaving the 3rd tow of seats out. I'll never use them either. If I did that, then perhaps i could build a sub enclosure in that space? 🤔
What's the sound like without a sub? I'm worried that upgrading still the other dialers but not having a sub for bass will leave me with a compromised sound.
@@ryancrawcour1567 that is a possibility. Might cost a bit for a custom enclosure. If I was doing I would include a space for the cables to go as the sub would not need all the width
I also have a Diamond Red 2023 PHEV. Do you have a model number or part number for the hitch that the dealer sold you??? Thanks, Stephen
I’m also looking for the tow hitch. The standard gas version does not fit.
Thanks for the video. Is there any way to understand how much petrol I have used while driving ?
What is the trailer hitch model you have? and where did you purchase?
Canada here. I have placed an order for a 2023 Outlander PHEV GT. Waiting in anticipation!
When you start your everyday trip routine , do you have to each time switch to EV mode or you make your EV ONLY kilometers in normal mode without using switch just turn car on and go ? I am just waiting to get new 2023 Outlander PHEV here in Canada. Should arrive next week. I am asking that because I use to have Chevy Volt and that car by default runs in full EV mode until battery empty or until you switched to hybrid mode manually if wanted to save battery. With Chevy Volt I had 0.9L/100 km lifetime fuel consumption on 43,000 km total.
I'm getting a PHEV in red diamond too👌 Do you have the part# of your trailer hitch?
This suggestion about EV is brilliant, thank you!
Do you know what triggers the parallel-hybrid mode, where the petrol engine engages with the front wheels? I have tested heavy throttle input using all the driving modes, and i have never seen the power flow meter show power going from the ICE to the front wheels.
The car only has one gear. This means it can only go directly from ICE to wheels in a very limited speed range. I have seen it at 60mph/100kph a few times which is the speed it seems to like using the ICE. At any other speed the ICE only acts as a generator
@@detailedreviews4837 Thanks for your reply. Is there any particular drive mode that you need to be in? And do you need to be around a certain battery percentage for this to occur? I’m just concerned that I’ve never seen it happen in my car.
If you use up the battery or put the car in save mode it should go to it at 100kph/60mph
@@detailedreviews4837 thanks. I’ll give that a try next time I’m on the motorway.
What about towing a caravan ?
Great work. It took me way too long to find this video. Exactly what I wanted. These times are perfect for me. It fast enough to catch the sleepers but not to fast I kill myself
Hi mate I’ve appreciated your videos on the PHEV. Wondering if you might do a bit of an update now you’ve had the car for a few months? How’s it going? How’s the fuel consumption and highway performance, eg overtaking? Hope you’re well. Cheers
Hello from the United States. Can you confirm the car does *not* use the gasoline/petrol engine when accelerating full throttle in EV mode? I find PHEVs that decide for me to use the ICE very annoying
I am afraid it does use the gasoline engine when you accelerate hard. This is normally to act as a generator as the battery can only deliver a limited amount of current. If you keep your eye on the power gauge you can get pretty decent acceleration if you keep the needle below the max. On the power modes the gas engine engages really easily
Hi thanks for the detailed review, I own 2023 SEL model at Canada, should I really consider buying PHEV in trade in ? not sure if it is worth of money spent. approx 10K to 13k extra over my model price 50K. Kindly advice .. My main usage mostly short distance trips within city.
Where I live the difference between summer and winter is not as great as Canada and I still notice a big difference. In particular when cold the petrol engine will come in when you start and use the air con to defrost. In summer the air con does not come on during startup or when using the air con to cool.
the climate control timer does not work in NZ !!! is it working in your car?
Can you let air con running during charging?
Hi - what version of the phev outlander is this and what’s the retail price in NZD? Please
Can your vehicle charge while driving by pressing the charge button? Or does it only work when stationary?
Yes you can, but personally I don't see the point as the car is very efficient in Hybrid mode when the battery is "flat" as it is a 20KWh battery that only uses 15KWh for EV mode then uses the rest for Hybrid mode. In Hybrid mode it still runs in EV mode quite a bit of the time with a "flat" battery
@@detailedreviews4837 true but on long trips where I can not plug in the vehical overnight I find it a good option to have. If you run out of battery on a 400 mile trip you can recharge the batteries so you can travel in ev only mode around town 👍
What is your combined range with full tank and full battery? And what can you expect with a average speed of 80kmh?
Nice upgrade mate. Do you know what inputs they used on the Zapco? I've had my base model head unit out of the dash and I don't recall seeing any optical outputs. There were a few usb's though
I just started the process to buy an outlander PHEV here in Australia. They just launched on the 15th of August. Sadly it's a 12 month wait.
so the NZ model does not have this sub? ruclips.net/video/RscBQJYVGlU/видео.html
That model shown is the ICE model, not the PHEV. The PHEV doesnt have that large sub under the floor, that's where the vehicle's batteries are.
nice one! I am about to purchase a PHEV outlander but the ONLY reason I thought Id go for a VRX simply because of the bose system but I agree it's quite average but better than standard, I think I may go LS model and save a bunch for a cracker audio system, what do reckon? GREAT VID< I'll probably go see MAD since they know what they are doing. thx
The VRX also has the sunroof and the 360 surround cameras which I don't think the LS has.
Is fast charging possible??
Why would you have to turn a dial to be able to drive eco or full power. Don't we have a foot paddle for that? To me that dial is completely nonsense. With traction control it should always perform as good as possible to get the best traction. I beleive this is a typical nonsense dial that is just put in to get some land rover customers to buy a outlander or something like that.
What I do not understand is that you have to point it out and not the 100 official reviews from known car websites. They produce such a superficial reviews almost just selling the car. Yours is so useful, Thanks!
Quick question. How do you turn off your car power when power on without depressing break? User manual mentioned "two times to change to off" on page 7-11. Looks like a mistake here as I can turn off the power by a single push instead of two times?
Electric cars are more efficient in the suburbs than on highways.
HI EXCUSE ME HOW MUCH YOU PAY FOR THE OUTLANDER? Thank you so much
Old man yells at cloud
Great video / thanks so much for sharing. I am nz based and have an outlander on order. I agree that our test drive vehicles sound quality was not as good as i hoped. Can you please give us a rough idea on cost? Many thanks.
Hi there. I now have my Outlander and oervall happy with it. One thing that is driving me nuts is the AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System) that drones when driving under 10kph when in EV mode. Have you experienced this sound? Cheers, Marc
I hate it. Wish I knew how to disable this
Good video, can you include the previous speaker sizes? I got 6x9 front doors, 5" into 6.5" in the rear doors, 1inch tweeters? 5" Sub, and ? mid range?
Does the car allow using EV mode for speeds over 80kmh on highway? I've read it doesn't but it's hard to confirm here is Aus prior to launch
I been been at 110kph plus in New Zealand in pure EV mode many times. Plenty of EV power left on the dial
Thanks for info
What's the battery capacity in this new one I was told its 20kw I saw on your other video you only got 54km on EV mode I thought they said its around 80km but then again its cold im in Australia Newcastle
Clean it then review it....
I thought that was a Kiwi 🥝 accent !
Great video! Thanks for sharing it! And greetings from Taiwan!
Im from jordan
whats the tow rating for this car?
Same as the petrol version
@@detailedreviews4837 did you take additional courses at school to give useless answers or just comes naturally to you?
Well done. I see you have a trailer hitch on the car. I would love to hear/see some feedback on how the car tows. Thanks!
What did you do with the old Bose stereo. I've got a base model outlander
Sitting in a box. Not sure if it would fit in another model. What does it look like under your passenger seat?
@@detailedreviews4837 There is nothing there so I'm wondering if I can buy your old one?
I'm about to do a similar aftermarket upgrade. So there'll be a bother set of Bose speakers and amp available soon if you're still interested.
@@ryancrawcour1567 Yep still interested thanks
