Omg he is so old now...holy shit, he was so young in 2000. That song was a huge hit, I remember it was being played back to back on MTV, VH1, and all over the radio. But he was a young fella then....hard to believe for me that the year 2000 was 24 years ago I still remember it like it was yesterday...I was 19 years old in 2000. Crazy how time fly's by. Seeing these artist when they were young and youthful start to age is a trip for me and seeing me and people my age start aging. We were known as the babies back then...the youngins....I was told all the time by the old Geez back then " Hey little youngin". Or told I was the baby of the group because my friends were 24, 25, 22, years old back then when I was 19. This guy is unrecognizable now. I wonder why he never continued doing more albums and music he just despaired after 2000. I remember was warned by older people then that people older then me are gonna age in 20 years and i will lose friends and family and you will turn around and be middle aged. You will see people get older and your parents will be elderly...in my case I lost my mom in 2019. I remember being lectured by older people back then ....and looking at them like that won't happen to me for decades... I'm still young, I remember thinking 23 was old and being full of myself, like I was invisible being young and carefree...feeling sorry for the older people...well folks I should've took heed in there conversations and listened to them and cherish every moment and don't take life for granted... everything passes by won't come back again. I now feel it and experiencing it... losing family members and friends, and a parent has been unbearable and unimaginable... people I never thought will ever die in my mind. This song takes me back to my teenage years and having all my family and friends together and seeing my momma cooking and cleaning, and hearing her laugh and her hanging out with me and my friends, telling me not to stay out late ....if i can just relive those moments again.

Even as a lifelong goth, I never liked that label of "goth band." I believe there's a sub culture that is goth that follows particular bands, but goth as a genre of music is pigeonholing. Sisters of Mercy and Siouxsie and the Banshees have done very well not checking that box.

"Goth is depressive" completely underplays the range of musical expression that encompasses goth music. I'd argue that saying it comes from a romantic mindset fits better as a whole. That includes all the emotions from romance, but also includes the supernatural stuff. People equate gothic music to depressive music not because of the lyrical content but because of the tone of the music. Just like pop music can make sad songs sound happy, goth can make happy songs sound sad. That being said, musical genres are not defined by their lyrical content. Sisters is a goth band regardless of the way the band itself feels about it.
