Welcome! I hope this channel gives you some help in fixing your vehicle. I will share how to fix your own vehicle or give you ideas on how to do it yourself and save money. Life has gotten so expensive recently and auto dealers are charging such high prices on repairs in order to cover their overhead which has also increased. I am not a mechanic, but I am just trying to pay it forward since I received so much help from all of you in the past on RUclips with my auto repairs and home repairs. I started this channel with two goals in mind, one was to help you with your project with helpful videos, and number two if you liked the video and it was helpful then I would ask you to subscribe to the channel and to give it a like.

Power Steering Return Line 1965 ford Thunderbird Replacement
Hello, awesome video! 😃How is the 65 bird running since you have put the pertronix in? is that a new coil put in to? you said you would have an update 90-120 days later. Did you adjust the ignition timing at all since pertronix install? how many degrees btdc? 🧑🔧
Thank you for watching my video of the Thunderbird, unfortunately I had to go back to the points system, it works better with points, especially after the car left me stranded. I would recommend upgrading the complete distributor to a Mallory or MSD. The car has been running with the same points and condenser for sometime now without any issues. I don’t remember what I set the timing at, I believe it was around 6 degrees. The coil it currently has is a yellow Accel coil. The blue one on the video was one that purchased through Rockauto and the brand was “Standard”
you tube ought to band people like you that post wrong videos of stuff like you did in this one
No luck on mine. You get what you pay for!
Thank you
Great junk….didnt work…amazing china fail
Instruction worked great, thanks
Thank you!
Is the bottom portion of the tank suppose to be empty or full? ...I thought I read somewhere that the lower tank is the overflow portion of the tank and it needs to be empty.
The bottom section isn't filled completely. If you remove the bottom cap, you'll notice a small hole inside the cap cavity. The fluid level should be below that hole. Be sure to check it when the truck is cold, not hot.
@@flperformancegarage4163 Thank you very much for your quick response. I'll check the level, per your advice. BTW - I was able to download the Owner's Manual, but it was very vague and stated that the lower tank should be mostly empty, versus stating that it should be 1/3, 1/4, or 1/8 full... ...so it was inconclusive and frustrating.
FYI - My Truck is a 2017 Chevy Silverado Duramax 2500HD LTZ Z71 4X4 Midnight Edition... ...so you have a couple years on me.😆 ...but I've been blessed and I'm only at 75k miles.
What are you doing about that air bubble in the top of the tank?
There is nothing that has to be done about the bubble on top of the tank, thank you for watching my video, it’s greatly appreciated.
@flperformancegarage4163 pretty sure it has to be topped off. When the dealer did the block heater recall they lost coolant and vacuum filled it and there was no air bubble.
This is so helpful! We unhooked both negative terminals first, which can be so much easier and safer! We put a glove over both positive and negative terminals just to be sure nothing bad happened, and its easier to grab them when need be.
Did the tire pressure light turn off
Yes it did, just had to reset the sensors.
@@flperformancegarage4163 I put all new a,/c to Delco tire pressure monitor sensors in & used the same tool to program the sensor but the tire pressure light still on can u help
What happens if one of the tires don't read the rest tool??
If the sensor is not reading the sensor on one of the four tires, the sensor is probably bad and will need to be replaced. I had an issue on one of the tires not reading and had to reset the sensors a couple of times until it finally read all the sensors. Make sure the battery on your reset tool is good.
Awesome, thanks for the info
Wow, great details! I think this might help a lot! I wanted to know if you were working on the driver's or passenger side, one side has more stuff to do to it. Trying to figure out if my husband and I can do this or take it into the dealer to do it. Thanks!
Thank you for watching the video, the battery that I was working on is the main battery located on the passenger side of the truck. The battery on the drivers side doesn’t have all the connectors on top. Take a picture or video of the main battery before disconnecting, so it is easier to reconnect.
@@flperformancegarage4163 No, thank you for the video! I'm pretty sure we can do it, the dealer wants $200 just for the labor part of it!
@@flperformancegarage4163 I'm happy to report, mostly thanks to your video, we got it done sucessfully! Thank you much, and such a relief!
Is this the gator trax or the gator recoil?
It’s the GatorTrax, it has taken some abuse and still works fine, it just developed a small water leak, but nothing to worry about.
Thank you, I'm dealing with this now
Did you get it? Husband and I got it done Saturday, and boy are we relieved!
Same process on a 2019 GMC 2500 HD Explorer conversion van?
Same process, hope this helps. Thank you for watching the video.
What happens when the cap comes off and filter still stuck in the assembly?
It’s ok for the filter to remain in the housing, just carefully remove it so not to damage the sensor. Thank you for watching the video.
Can you get any slower. You will never make it in two minutes
Lmao! Love the comment! Made my day!
What auto part store did you get that at?
What is that tool called?
I purchased it at either autozone or advance auto parts, I really don’t remember, but it’s manufactured by Dorman and it’s called a window handle removal tool. I hope this helps.
Dorman window handle removal tool, sold at AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts
You didn't show how you removed the old one or installed the new one. Didn't help me.
tire shop
Gonna try this, thanks!
Thanks for the video. I saw the knuckle slash on your hand. Was that this job? Never heard no swearing or Thrashing around? I need to get this done thanks again.
Did you remove the coolant in the radiator ?
No, I tied up the hose from the reservoir tank in order to not allow air to get into the coolant system. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching my video.
Also did you disconnect the other battery?
Yes, I disconnected both batteries.
seems kind of dumb to run it through the maf and air filter, should have taken it off and blocked the intake up
But it worked!
@@flperformancegarage4163 well you cant argue with results then, just did a smoke test on my 85 and found out my throttle body is leaking through on both sides, so this video help inspire me to drop $200 on a smoke machine. well worth it
The dealer wanted to charge me 2000 dollars, new tank, 2 new batteries and a flush , the dealer said the battery cause the problem, leaking on the sensor. Yeah , you’re dreaming.
$2,000 dollars is a lot of money, rock auto.com has the ACDelco brand for sale under $90 dollars and a new battery around $220 each x2. That equals $530 plus taxes.
What's so complicated about it?
Why replace the coil? They rarely if ever fail during a cars lifetime.
Visibly oxidized plug contacts watching the video , at the female plug and male lugs , it worked again because when you unplugged the motor a few times it caused the two plugs contacts to clean up a bits just enough to work again. Ford style connectors suffered from few major issues . The female socket barrels are spilt and widen with heat generated from high amperage draws, and because the rubber into which they are molded gets hard and weak over time it no longer keeps that split at the most minimum gap .The other issue is the male lugs, because of reduced diameter in the middle they have less surface to contact with the female socket than should have : that caused heat plus a pocket for moisture to form which causes oxidation .I had a couple of 1964 back to back in the early 1970s, I was in my late teens then, pumping gas part time at a servicer station whose Mechanic /Owner used to let me use a bay after hours so that I could work on my car /s . Being older and obviously a professional he taught me a few things about how to make Ford style connectors work with the least resistance possible for many many years ...usually longer than most people kept cars back then . The following is what you may want to think about doing especially for window motors connectors which in those cars draws about 20 amps under normal circumstances , no binding well greased window regulator a lot more if there is any binding at all. 1 # make sure that the window regulator quarter moon gear is coated in lithium grease, and the articulation joints are also rinsed with penetrating oil first and then greased. 2# The motor plugs ...once separated clean the major oxidation on the male barrels with a small brass brush , and after to a shine with a piece of 1200 grit sandpaper formed into a female tube. 3 #For the more difficult female sockets , make a roll of 200 grit sandpaper the size of the male barrel and turn it inside the female then follow it with the 1200 paper same method . spray both with electrical contact cleaner , apply a film like coating of dielectric grease on males and females with a Q-tip and plug them together .4# spray contact cleaner on the rubber and dry it well , then using a premium electrical insulating tape ..wrap the plugs covering the mid seam to keep the condensation which forms inside the doors from temperature differentials but most especially if the car is exposed to rain . Those 4 steps will make your Tbird windows work like they did in 1965, when yours rolled off the presses from the Wixom Michigan Plant . Good luck with your next Ford plug electrical issue 🤞🤞.
Thank you for the video I just had this issue show up on my 2018 3500. I ordered my new tank received in a day put the tank in my self in about and hour start to finish👍👍👍👍 very simple
Glad the video helped with the replacement. GM knew it was a problem and changed the design in their 2020 models.
Thank you so much!!
Glad the video helped. Thank you!
Dude ! excellent instructional video! Thanks, I will order the tool,
Good job
Thank you
Super helpful, made things easy
Could have just reversed the wires in the switch. When servicing be sure to grease all the slides and the gears on the regulator. The motors stop working due to lack of use particularly the rear 1/4 windows. Remove, strip, clean and lubricate, they will work. Switches can be serviced with a points file. Sometimes bits of rubber from the switch fall between the points. Oh and put the plastic sheet back on before the door panel. If none there, acquire some and glue in place. It will stop the door panel from distorting along the bottom.
I greatly appreciate the recommendation and information. It will help a lot with this car since so many hands have worked on it during the last 58 years. Thank you!
I bought that gizmo and did exactly what you said and it worked perfectly!! You should get a kickback for sure!
LOL! Thank you for the comment, it was greatly appreciated. Thank you for watching my video.
This video is fantastic; thank you!
Thank you!
Very good video! I followed your steps exactly and changed out my reservoir tank with success. Thank you again.
I am glad that the video helped out. Thank you!
Exactly what is wrong with my 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Duramax 6.6L Thanks for doing this video.
You’d think with diesel being $5 a gallon, it would be cleaner!
We can only wish it would be cleaner with the high prices paid for Deisel. Thank you for watching my videos.
My truck 2018 duramax sounds like it gets hot / loud fan sound under the hood.... I have the engine light for low coolant even though its full... Could this be the cause of truck getting hot or loud fan sound?
What is the temperature gauge showing?
@@flperformancegarage4163 210
I have a 2018 Silverado and I can get every tire except the Left Rear to chirp. Maybe the sensor itself is bad? Idk.
If the sensor went bad, it would not register on the display. Your dash display, is it showing tire pressure on all four corners?
It only shows 1 of the sensor psi@@flperformancegarage4163
Did you figure it out I'm having same problem?
So if you don’t replace the sensor, you’re still ok as long as you check the coolant tank, correct?
Correct. I just checked my coolant level on a regular basis until I decided to replace it. Thank you for watching my video.
East instructions. Great step by step process.
Thank you
Yo, thanks my dude. Your vid helped. Big time. Appreciate it.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video
Thank you for watching the video.
Does it matter what kind of Tpms sensors I get ?
Amazon and Ebay sell them. I purchased a pack of 4 from Amazon for a very cheap price and they work fine.
@@flperformancegarage4163 cool, but it shouldn’t matter what brand from Amazon right? Because I know there is like a bunch of brands and stuff
Doesn’t matter the brand. Make sure your are getting GM style sensors.
Just want to disconnect the sensor. Changing the tank is a short term fix.
Disconnecting the sensor won’t turn off the warning. Some other RUclips channels have jumped the connection and taped it. I don’t recommend doing this because of all the electronics involved with these trucks. Thank you for watching my channel.
This is the absolute worst thing GM could have done. Who the hell can't open the hood once in a while and take a look. My low coolant light has been on for more than a year. Dealer reminds me at every service. Change the tank under warranty but that run out.
GM only ran the tank design 2017-2019 and changed up the location and design in 2020.
Why didn’t you use the drain plug beforehand?
The drain plug is for removal of water which collects at the bottom of the bowl. I usually leave the truck overnight to reduce the line pressure, but wanted to get a video out and hurried up and took a bath in diesel fuel. Thank you for watching my video and I hope that it helped a little.
@@flperformancegarage4163 I used the drain plug to vent the pressure in the system, but do it however you want.
Any up date on the ignition? Pros, cons . Thx
Working on a video of my thoughts of the electronic ignition verses points and condenser. I went back to the points system.
