Great video on how to replace the lost detail after sanding...the only problem is that the M-47 tracks do not have track pins which protrude from the surface. They are actually more like recessed holes. Check out some on-line walk around photos and videos. I also sanded off the ugly seam line and protruding pins from the sides of the tracks, but instead used a very small finger drill to create the pin "holes". Eight to 10 twist with the finger drill, and had a perfect track pin hole. A little time consuming, but results were good.
Just lost my f4 joystick and been looking for 1 hour
Instead of doing a clear- coat, would a high- gloss paint work?
Thanks for the lesson. I love the quick release function. THAT is a game changer.
What are the four division/regiment markings?
Yes, that answers a few of my questions. Worth a subscription.
Thank you so much for all your pro tips! They are very helpful. I just got back into model rocketry and have been getting my nephew into it.
echt super gute farbe n! habe seit 3 monaten mit dem hobby angefangen und nach tamiya habe ich AK mal ausprobiert und man die dekkraft und gleichmässigkeit ist herforagend. you hav to tak AKA thinner ! but it its worth .
2nd gen is notorious for being a bitch to thin, ruined a few pots before just settling on straight from the tin with great results. Cheap enough per pot but really need a thinner to make it last longer!
Estes is the bestist.
9:46 wow, look at that bug go 😁
I’m building the Vapor now. I’ve never used a baffle but this seems like the perfect low power rocket for a baffle. We’re you satisfied with the results?
I’m looking for a similar 1/4” braid to replace the elastic shock cord. All I can find is 1/4” flat braided elastic bands. Sounds like what you have but surprising it would outlast the basic shock cord given in the kit. I’m building this kit now myself. First one building since back in the 80’s. Been watching your XL series before I start. Hoping to put a little more TLC into my builds these days. Keep up the good work!
How do you go wearing spectacles with this respirator?
If they just did the *right* cars. Modern cars, for the most part, make for incredibly uninteresting kits. Of course, modern cars, for the most part, ARE uninteresting...
Tip refresher (recommended fume extraction and eye protection as with all soldering) is worth a try. Also I have a piece of tinplate from kitchen or brass offcut with a tinned layer of solder on it. To re-tin iron simply clean bit on pad and slide it over the tinned sheet. My current piece of brass is about 3 square inches and is taped to scrap timber 2x1. To protect from burning the timber is wrapped in alfoil from the kitchen. Always a little wary of overheated irons because of vaporising metals. See spec sheets. With our solders I believe tin can boil off. Be especially wary to avoid cadmium!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The boiling off of metals needs looking into. Does anyone have any info? Meanwhile, ventilate well and don't breathe the soldering fumes of any kind. Small irons lose heat to the work very quickly; that's why they are run so hot. I usually run a large bit 60 watt iron through a regulator, throttled up to a little over the melting point as observed. The thermal mass of the iron dwarfs that of the work, and so everything runs cooler. Incidentally, your solder would flow better if you use a larger tip...the work looks underheated. Everyone (especially me), eye and breathing protection, and read the spec sheets. Thanks for channel. Pete
Really well done
Thank you. Nice tutorial 👍
Great video presentation. Would it then be possible to make the joint look exactly like the rest of the brass plates, i.e. to make the joint almost invisible?
Is that a 3d printed rocket work stand? Where is it available?
Available from estes.
about that solder...60/40 it's that same solder for electronic soldering..?? sorry, i'm new in this
Yes it is the same.
Where did you get that fin guide
It is made by Estes.
@@mauswerxtv3566 Thank You
Very good, even a year later. Very well informed, to the point, excellent.
Glad you enjoyed it!
How hard is the bond between the two parts. I'm just now starting to get into this. Thanks for the tutorial btw. :)
Very strong if done right
Black tape are messy, try painters tape
I too was surprised to find that they were pure lacquers that require lacquer thinner after seeing people use from water to leveling thinner on some of them. I think the clear cap is a different formula even though they sell them under the same brand name. How did you manage to get them to work and do you still use them?
I use Mr. Leveling Thinner now on both and they work well.
Great videos. Very helpful with some good techniques. That clear cutting Board is incredible, I’ve been looking for something like that for a long time. Do you have a source for those?
Got it at Office Depot many years ago. It is for post-it-notes.

Didn’t think his would work because of my carpet length but found my part, thanks
Why cant I find a video of engine install and luanch???? I guess I'll just stuff mine in and fire it off!!! Well see what happens!
Thank you for posting this. It will save a lot of pain trying to find a good one. Lots of sellers fail to mention that it does not come complete with the filters and retainers. I found a seller who sells them complete with all of the parts for $43.00 US.
Where do you get that fixture for marking lines on tubes?
Just a quick question. Never used DEFT Laquer Sanding Sealer before. Can you paint over this with Testors Enamel?
Yes no problem.
Why didn’t you sweat them down and avoid the excess solder?
Can i get Solder machine details
The solder station is a Weller WES51 and I set it at about 700 degrees F, or 70 on the dial.
Awesome video... got my kid away from video games, doing this instead
That is great to hear! Keep on building
My son and I just getting into these and your attention to detail is REALLY helpful. Thanks! -Dan
U took 30 minutes to put on the fins💀
Do you use hot or cold water? Do you add any soap to water to help sliding
very warm water and a drop of white glue in the water bowl to help bonding.
Rocket is gloss coated to help decal sliding.
DR is WW 2
Great video. Lots of great tips that I incorporated into my build. Did you ever film/post the pairing and launching?
No not yet but soon I hope.
Thanks so much for this video. I was having a few difficulties getting the paint I'd bought to work right.
Very welcome
problems with paints alwas occur when ppl start to use different materials as thinner as an opposite what the manufacturer recommends.... Always use the factory thinner or, in case of the AK real colors, Gunze leveling thinner also works. It is definitely not water based, they have different range of paint for that.
Thanx man, might have to try a chopper now...
Any time!

Thank you for the comprehensive review! I’m definitely getting this one and I’m looking forward to seeing you building this kit. Greetings from Sweden
Hello! I also am looking forward to building it hopefully soon. Stay tuned!
Well done!
