Lithops Splitting Timelapse
Просмотров 48 тыс.3 года назад
Timelapse videos of Lithops plants splitting/renewing their leaves.
Thank you, wondered how they did that. I know how often to take a pic. Thank you.
May have taken you three months of work but three years later and people are still enjoying this video <3 thank you for the effort
It's So Beautiful 🥹🥹
@@Butterfly11101 Thankyou!
Why do they sometimes split into 4 leaves and sometimes only keep 2 leaves?
Once they have been growing a few years (2-3) they will randomly decide to split into four new leaves rather than the usual two leaves. I guess it’s their way of growing and spreading just like any other plant.
I feel itchy 😢
I know it’s late, but thank you so much for sharing! I understand what’s going on with my own Lithops now, as it’s doing it’s first split!
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing!
This is very helpful and interesting! I was starting to wonder if it’s normal that my lithops takes so long to split. If the base becomes very shrivelled during splitting would you recommend watering? I‘ve read that you should never water when it splits but I‘m worried cause it’s so dry looking already and still in the beginning of splitting.
Thanks! Actually, during the three months it took to record the splitting timelapse there was a period ( about 2/3 through the video ) where I did give them a couple of thimblefuls of water because the splitting seemed to be stalled/stuck. They didn’t suffer from my mini-watering and the splitting resumed at its normal pace afterwards. So you should feel free to give them a little water. Unlike many Lithops growers I don’t subscribe to the idea of ‘not watering until they are really wrinkled’. I like my Lithops to stay plump looking!
I saw something that said you put the pot in a bowl of water after the seeds have been put in then you take it out. How often are you meant to water the lithops after doing that?
Water the soil well to start with then scatter the seeds on top and cover with a poly bag for a few weeks. Don’t leave the pot soaking in water. There’s an earlier comment for this same video where I gave a link to Reddit ( there I gave details on how I grow from seed )
@@fourcolor223 ok thx
@@fourcolor223 hey I have another question. I'm using a soil and sharp sand mix for the lithops. How many parts of soil and sand is best?
@@zaynabali4700 for seed propagation I would use a 50/50 mix
@@fourcolor223 on a website I checked it said 1:2. Does it depend on climate or can you do anything similar?
Awesome!
Awesome!
Thankyou!
Love it! How about another video with Lithops blooming and flowers shriveling. Of course seeds take up to 6+ months to ripen! Also can spray water on a mature seedpod and see it open up would be cool too. Thanks.
Thanks! I did a Lithops flowering timelapse - it’s on this same RUclips channel if you want to see it. ruclips.net/video/Ti5L2aU6D7c/видео.html A seed case opening timelapse is something I’m pursuing - watch this space….. albeit slowly 😀
Great video. Thanks for sharing! Very informative for us beginners
👏👏🙋🪴
Bruh this shit just looks disgusting
So freaky and cool! How often do they do that? Is it a regular occurence?
They do it once a year.
Appreciate the efforts of leaving your camera there for 3 months! But it was worth it! Thanks!
Nice!
nice
What is the music 🎶 in this video?
I made this video using the Microsoft Video Editor app ( it’s free as part of Windows ). In this app they give you several different pieces of music you can use with your video - I don’t know it’s name but you will find it if you can open the app in Windows!
I like it! 😊 Thanks
Nice. 👍🏻
That was awesome! I appreciate you patiently putting this together and sharing it with all of us! Absolutely amazing!
These always only have 2 active leaves? That's kinda cool
Nice
Beautiful
Fantastique video qui nous fait observer ce qui se passe très discrètement sous nos yeux....
Merci beaucoup!
Wow, thank you. I've never seen that plant before. And it's cool that it pretends to be a stone. :D
Thank you for taking the time to share the lapses . I appreciate you
Wow
Well done!
I really like this video when it molts, did you water the lithops growing media?
Thanks! I only watered once during the three months - just a very light amount of water.
@@fourcolor223 thank you I'm just learning lithops seed seedlings how long will it take for them to sprout and how to light it so that the baby lithops are fat and short like yours?
@@MayaUntari The Lithops plants in the time lapse video were three years old.
