do you know if it is a similiar job on the mk5 1.6i ?

@@PetersGarage111 do you have to refill the AC after removing the AC lines?
@@brazox yes. Before removing the AC lines, first you need to empty the AC system. After completing the job and refitting the AC lines you have to refill the AC system

@@PetersGarage111 thanks Pete . I tackled the job and we didn't need to remove the lights . Worked out fine and gave me a chance to repair , paint the front subframe . Man is aircon lovely

why did you unscrew these 3 screws on the cam sprocket?
@@5PRO5KOMP5 Hi you need to slacken the three bolts to enable the gear wheel to rotate slightly and equalise the tension on either side of the belt when it is replaced.
That's in a crappy location
The location is not that bad actually. All you need is to remove the air intake pipe.
@PetersGarage111 that's a pain for me lol. The clamp that's all the way closest to the firewall is a real pain for me

My bottom pipe was also very hard to remove by hand. Is there a tool for this process as mine was pretty much seized on.
@@danwiddison Hi there is no tool. You will have to pry it out. Maybe with e very thin flat head screw driver first. Hammer the screw driver on the side where the bolt is. Do it very gently.
@@PetersGarage111 mine was really stuck on. ended up damaging the connector :( now need a new pipe connector. The bottom one is usually seized on
Easiest way! Drop the subframe, thank you💯 did this in my dads garage, way better than removing bumpers, fan shrouds and radiator...😎

@@Djmedic23 on this engine the only way to remove the AC compressor is from the bottom. There is no space on top
@@PetersGarage111 I just did this job twice unfortunately if u take the condenser fan out and upper rad support it comes out swimmingly just put cardboard on the rad.
@@PetersGarage111 In the shop manual it's written to remove coolant reserve tank and alternator. I suppose that's how you can get it from the top.
Hey, do you know where is the pipe for the ejection of the condensation water of the AC? I have water coming into the cabin but I don't find the pipe that should be stopped

Hi! Do you have to disconnect the battery when you are disconnecting the wires from the fan? Just asking in case it gives error codes
@@robinjansson4735 no you dont have to disconnect the battery. At least i dont disconnect it. If it gives an error, just erase the error with a scan tool
@@PetersGarage111 okay! Do you know if It’s bad if your damper crankshaft pulley rotates sometimes when you are trying to unscrew it? I mean does it ruin or mess up the timing on N47/N57 diesel engines? I’m really concerned and scared. I’m in the middle of replacing the damper crankshaft pulley atm
@@robinjansson4735 it’s not going to mess up the timing. Just get a pulley holding tool and then you will have no problem removing the bolt
did you need to take out the nut for the driveshaft?
@@vegardhogsnes no I didn’t take the nut for the driveshaft. Put a transmission jack underneath because the whole hub will go down when you release the shock.

@@mioman3045 the o-rings you can find in any autoparts store or on ebay or amazon. The oil I am using is AC oil PAG46.
