Further plans included building their own modern tank, tentatively named Gorilla. In my opinion, the work would rather go towards further modernization of the PT-97, which would result in a vehicle similar to the PT-16. The PT-97 is a concept of a tank with a welded turret, multi-layer armor, new suspension and new electronics. In my opinion, consistent modernization of the T-72/PT-91 could have led to the creation of a Polish equivalent of the T-90 tank. All these plans were destroyed by one decision of the Polish government. Germany offered Poland 116 Leopard 2 A4 tanks for a symbolic 1 Euro. The Polish government accepted the offer, taking over the old German tanks was free of charge, but putting them into service and creating a logistics base for them in Poland turned out to be very expensive. There was no money to continue the modernization of the T-72 tanks of the Polish Armed Forces. At the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the T-72 was the most frequently used tank in Polish tank battalions. The Polish government was obliged to take care of its own armor industry. Leopard 2 is a great tank. If the Polish government, along with the acquisition of 116 old Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany, decided to purchase another new 58-116 Leopard 2 tanks that would be built jointly by the German and Polish industries, everything would be fine. The adoption of old German tanks into service destroyed the Polish armor industry. In 2016, the PT-16 technology demonstrator with a 120 mm gun was shown, but this vehicle was created 20 years too late.

​@@PacificFront do you often think that @jankowalski-i8u comment might be chat gpt/auto generated, i never see people replied that formally before especially when somebody asked him a rather simple question, he/she always respond in a full sentence and often than not unnecessary or irrelevant, idk a food for thought i guess.

@@thatoneperson6969 I've never thought about that.. since the beginning he replies naturally.. and he also talk with others in comments too.. we talk about personal things as well sometimes.. but English is not his main language, so maybe he use google translate or something from Polish to English..

@@PacificFront if that the case then he/she is also speaking formally in polish if he/she is using google translate, which in other military related youtube videos, polish people often speak casually and it's quite rare to them to speak in a formal way unless it's business related, but i might take some of your point on that.
