I would have liked some demonstrations of the differences of what you are talking about, I like the natural horn. I’m not a musician but played with bagpipes and the hurdy gurdy of the same times.

I used to play the horn, now I'm a voice actor. I bought two of the same mic and two of the same preamp. Yes, it was twice the cost, but when I had to send my mic back to Germany, there was no loss in how I captured my voice. Owning two similar instruments is definitely the solution.

Great to hear your experience. I spent years wondering why I couldn’t play top Bb on my Paxman model 20… just tried your hack on the 1st valve slide - turning it round - and it also massively improved it on my horn. Eureka!Just wondering what gave you the idea to try it in the first place?! Genius

When I played Brahms 1 Symphony in college, I played the final movement on F horn, holding down 1&3 the whole time and stopping the written F
