    I don't understand ; if a soldier kills .. they work the government.. so just blame your government. It goes both ways if a VC kills a foreign soldier.. he works for his government... he nor you for that matter would have access to a M16 or an Ak if it weren't for your respective governmnent.. it isn't like governments are blameless; they have a responsibility as well.. not just the soldiers.

    I am a retired veteran and have lived in southeast Asia for nearly ten years. I have spent a lot of time traveling in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and have studied the history deeply. This film and the important story told lack some much needed historical context and background information for a balanced understanding of what happened. It is estimated that tens of thousands of double agents and spies had infiltrated into the government of South Vietnam and everywhere else during the war. This was well known at the time. Arrests, torture, executions and mass incarceration without due process of tens of thousands of Vietnamese civilians under the U.S. created and sponsored Phoenix program is also a fact and was admitted to by CIA director William Colby. Mass murder of innocent Vietnamese civilians by U.S. forces in "free fire zones" which included women and children was also a common occurrence. The My Lai massacre of over 500 innocent Vietnamese villagers was only one such incident among many. In comparison, the murder of a single double agent by Green Beret Special Forces pales in comparison if not for the fact that they were caught and exposed by the media at a time when such stories rarely leaked out. Any honest history of the war will point out that the majority of Vietnamese people in South Vietnam never supported the U.S. or the South Vietnamese government. If they had been allowed to have the national free election promised and agreed to by the Geneva Accords of 1956 to reunite their country and choose their own leader they would have overwhelmingly voted for President Ho Chi Minh, a communist who was extremely popular with the majority of Vietnamese people. Because of this the United States defied the Geneva Accords and made sure that the democratic election was canceled. It didn't matter what the Vietnamese people wanted. America then installed and supported a series of unpopular dictators and corrupt governments under the guise of "freedom and democracy" in South Vietnam which was deeply resented by the majority of Vietnamese people. This is why most Vietnamese supported the Vietcong and why so many volunteered to become double agents and spies. They wanted a free and unified country controlled by Vietnamese people, not the corrupt and repressive governments created and financed by the United States which prevented that. The Vietcong, or National Liberation Front as it was known to the Vietnamese, was an indigenous, grass roots, and nationalist movement which began independently of North Vietnam. Their goal was to remove the unpopular and highly corrupt South Vietnamese puppet government created by the United States. Communism or socialism was only secondary to the independence movement and many fighting in the movement were not communists. The revolution in South Vietnam was eventually supported by the North Vietnamese which began sending supplies and troops to help. The Vietcong always controlled most of the country outside of Saigon and were supported by most of the rural Vietnamese people in the villages. The massive Tet Offensive launched by the National Liberation Front (Vietcong) in 1968 was the turning point and beginning of the end of American involvement in Vietnam. In the end, two to three million innocent Vietnamese people were killed by the U.S. because they sought self determination, a united country, and to be free from a century of foreign occupation and a highly corrupt government created, financed, and controlled by the U.S. They eventually succeeded and today are an independent and unified country with one of the strongest and fastest growing economies in Asia. It is an inspiring story of a nation of mostly poor peasants who fought a war for independence against the most powerful and technically advanced empire in the world ... and won. Two hundred fifty years ago the Americans were doing the same thing. But unlike Vietnam, America today is a sad story of a deeply divided nation, defeated this time in Afghanistan, overrun with millions of illegal migrants, plagued with high crime, drugs, violence, inflation, racial riots, and endless wars that are always lost. It is an empire in decline and collapsing rapidly.

    Terry, great production, I was wondering, I met a Green Beret in 1975, Colonel William (Bill) Rhodes. He was abt 40. he was in Vietnam back early 60s advising and later was asked by Gov Taft of Ohio in 1970 to go back. I saw the letter from Gov Taft. Asking him to consider rejoining and going back to Vietnam. Which he did. He also had a boat load Medals. He told me two stories about re-con missions (Two men teams) into Cambodia before we (US) were admitting we were in Cambodia. Both times he lost his partner killed, he was wounded but made it back alone with the help montagnards. Bill said he was working close with CIA at that time. Any way to find out more about him? Do you know anyone who might remember him? In 1976 He was living in Hudson, Fl working as a U S Marshall) and disappeared, left his wife & kids and just vanished? To my knowledge they have not heard from him since. I would like learn more about his service in Vietnam? Thank you,

    • @holylandfriends
      @holylandfriends 3 года назад

      Thanks for dropping by, Rex. Your opinion is respected although an amusing response is not flattering. Research confirms that this hypothesis is in concert with scientific facts up to a point. You must agree with it up to that point. When it goes beyond known science, it is left for one to accept or reject. FYI, I am not a qualified physicist. I am just reporting on it. It is a deviation from the norm of scientific conclusions. With that said, and when you denounce a presentation, it would be nice to provide evidence for review in support of your claim. When I said Hawking got it all wrong, I didn't leave it there. I went on to explain why I believe Hawking got it wrong. Hit and run comments don't bring correction and only leave bad impressions. Everything in this series starts with basic scientific facts. The series takes it further and supports creation by a divine God. Whether you believe in God or not, it might be that you don't have a full revelation of what is possible regarding physics and the miracle working power of a real God. After all, none of us have full knowledge and should remain teachable. Regardless, I wish you the best from here with respect.

    OK, the truth about Vietnam really has never been recognized. The South Vietnamese never wanted us there because their regime was punative, elitist and prone to turnover. The U.S. came in there offering to keep the status quo, so the average Vietnamese really did not care if the U.S. was successful or not, it was still the same shit. What a lot of them wanted was to be able to migrate to Thailand or Japan where thay had a chance to survive without bloodshed. The U.S. went in to profit the Military Industrial Complex, not to win a war. Not to say the Communist were any better, but the same old B.S. that had been in place to start with. What should have been done with Vietnam was what Goldwater suggested in 1962, bombed into submission and vanquished, not fought conventionally where we went in, took over 50 square miles then gave it back. But that system profits the weapons and munitions manufacturers, the more lead you can throw the more money they make. Vietnam was a cluster fuch, and nobody benefited.
