Sounds the same as my 440 ramcharger with the pops. Also the lack of working gauges is the same but my speedo works but I would take a working fuel gauge instead.

the last of the "V8 Interceptors" is based on the XA to XC Series (so 1971 to 1979) Falcon sedan. Here is the issue though, the one everyone remembers and wants is actually a "Super Pursuit" black XB Coupe with the "Concord" front end design treatment is not an "Interceptor" which was the regular Falcon 4 door sedan, moving along. What you have (Falcon ute) is basically a "XD" chassis (1979) with "XF" body (1987) (save for the quad headlight treatment) with an "ED" engine (1993) with the quad headlight treatment which also came from the same era "ED Falcon XR8 Sprint" sedan which was also a Tickford* enhanced vehicle. *Tickford during this time was a 51% owned by Ford Australia 49% owned by TVE United Kingdom (Tickford Vehicle Engineering) company that Ford Australia contracted to make "enhanced" Ford Australia cars like Falcon, Capri, Laser and Telstar (not sure if the USA ever got Mazda 626 from 1980's 1990's era), the Australian made cars rolled off the production line in Campbellfield Victoria and then went across the road to Tickford were they were enhanced. Engine wise Tickford did: head, extractors, cam upgrade, different engine and fuel map , extra cooling for radiator, transmission, enhanced the steering and suspension and of course the exterior and interior, they also made the XR8 version where the 8 was for V8 as in a Windsor 4.9L (302ci) enhanced fuel injected V8 which was also used in various North American Mustang but heavily revised for right hand drive and fit into the Falcon engine bay, yours being an automatic its a 4-speed electronic (2 drive modes: Power and Economy) control BTR (re: Borg Warner) torque converter made in Australia. Power and torque (in metric) for this particular engine is 161kW at 5,500rpm and 364Nm from 3,000 rpm to 4,000rpm (yes it has a flat torque curve), its a simple 12-valve (so 2 valves per cyl) alloy head with SINGLE OHC on an iron block 4.0L displacement with Multipoint (batch fired) EFI. This example being a New Zealand specification does not have to comply with the ADR (Australia Design Rules) so there are minor variance differences like steering wheel and number plate holders. Anyway nice video, please try to keep the ol Falcon in decent condition and if you want more history about these cars just ask.

@@unlovedautos - cheers. again please keep the ol Falcon in good condition, we love the Falcon (and Commodore - Australia's two local home grown fighters) and love to see them overseas showing the world what we had was so great for our home market. Sadly Australia stopped making cars in 2017, that said we do now "remanufacture" basically convert from LHD to RHD trucks like the F-150, Tundra, Ram and Silverado but its not the same thing as what we used to have with Falcon (Ford), Commodore (General Motors Holden), Magna/380 (Mitshibishi) and Camry/Aurion Toyota).

    1) Thank you for showcasing a Trailduster. I like them more than the Ramcharger but since they are stupid rare, Ramcharger it is! 😂😂 2) Thank you for putting more stock looking wheels and tires on it. 🥰🥰 3) I am with you on the steering wheel. It absolutely does not fit the truck. AT ALL. 🤦🤦 Would any Plymouth steering wheel of the era fit, or are you stuck trying to find a Trailduster specific one? 🤔🤔 4) Not having the gauges work and all of that has to be frustrating. It would be for me. To me, that says the previous owner was either lazy or cheap...or both. Hopefully you are able to get them all working soon! 🙂🙂 And yes, I am jealous! I want it! 🥰🥰😄😄

These were once a common sight on Australian roads a few years back (where they were branded as the Ford Capri). They were basically a front wheel drive Mazda MX-5/Miata There used to be more of these on the roads than the MX-5s but they never ended up being as desirable (probably due to being FWD) and there are very few left now but they aren't worth much either. I had a very similar car, only mine was a 4 cylinder. Same color, same interior, and mine was a manual. I bought is for $500 and drove it daily for almost 5 years, ending in 2007. I had to scrap it because the unibody in the middle of the car was almost rusted out, and it had over 200,000 miles on it. It never burned, or leaked a drop of oil and started every time I got in it, even in the harshest Midwestern winters. It was a gutless turd, but the mileage was great and it was the most reliable car I ever owned. At the time, my now ex-wife was in nursing school and we had two small children at home and I could not afford any other car. If I remember correctly it was "Jalapeno red" so I called it the Jalapeno Popper. Thank you for this video. It brought back some good memories of having a young, beautiful wife and two lovely boys, in other words, a family which I miss terribly.

While working storm damage after hurricane Katrina at one of the last houses after almost 2 months getting power back there was a Capri . The guy had bought it brand new, one owner but it was pretty worn out. He had it in his youth and even ran it in the family car duties. He was at the point he knew he'd never be able to fix it up and I bought it for a few hundred bucks. I haven't been able to find another one just like it and was hoping maybe you could tell me if it was unusual or not. I ended up selling it but I have wanted another one pretty bad. Ok it was definitely a black 1983 Mercury Capri 5.0 with a four speed manual transmission ( which I liked a lot because the 5 speed redlines in first so fast and the four speed first gear went a while) it had T tops and red RS graphics on the front fender and it had this cool looking but non functional hood scoop that I'd be willing to bet was not aftermarket. I believe it was McPherson struts. Anyway I have never been able to find another one online that was a 5.0 four speed RS. If you can tell me anything about it or your thoughts I would appreciate it. I think these cars are super cool. I was a child of the 80's and class of 92 so Fox Body Mustangs were a big part of my life. And the Mercury Capri is just a little something different than everyone else.
