I usualy dont complain about content, but this could be so interesting if you didnt rush and use yourself as testsubject moving in and out of focus. Maybe Im just old but I dont get the formats use in compairing lenses....
this didn't work for my sony 24-70 2.8 won't unscrew
Nobody mentioned a constant buzzing, background noise in the video. Jeez!
A1 is the best. Beautiful. 🤩
Giving the Miranda points for optical design doesn't make much sense when you clearly chose the Olympus over the Miranda on performance.
I’ve got a Canon TL QL and I’m curious to know which lenses I can use. I’m new to all this film talk and I have no idea what anything means lol I do know I have a 50mm lens on it now very similar to the 2nd lens you talked about. Which mounting systems can I use or should I look for when trying to buy lenses?
Why wouldn’t you use an 8 element Takumar, the lens their 50mm reputation is based on?
Especially noted for it’s superior Bokeh .
I just bought the 55mm f1.8 and the is a small haze in the rare I am now confident in cleaning it after seeing this, thanks
Do you know where to purchase if not in the USA?
This channel needs more subscribers! Great job!
Is that shot with the same sensor? Wonder how much the colors vary. Very interesting. Love the spirit of the video.
Yes! I have dueling Sony A7ii but I do have them on auto-white balance where some people have pointed out it might be better to manually set it to the right temp. Not fully scientific but always fun! Ben
@@CoutoCameraCompany definitely fun
more videos please
I really enjoyed your video, thanks you so much for sharing.
Caroline Herschel was also one of the first woman who got public and peer recognition for work in science. And in her own right, not just as assistant to her brother and his son. It's amazing how many topics "natural philosophers" in that era covered. Another fascinating example, same era is Benjamin Franklin who gets (today) way too little credit for his science work (copley medal and FRS too). Later they really had to specialize because scientific topics had become to complex for "polymaths". also bit and pieces i remember: the 40 foot telescope was a bit of a PR stunt, it never was much use, being at the absolute edge of the technology. W. Herschels slightly smaller ones were his master pieces (literally the best you could buy). The "Sir for William is a bit shaky, because it had something to do with Hannover and was some sort of foreigner level knighthood. John Herschels is a real one. Because he's such a towering figure in astronomy and science, nobody probably much questioned it.
Thank you for this. This was super enlightening!
7:34 No offense intended, but the notion of the Nicéphore Niépce photo taking eight hours to expose was an assumption made in the mid 20th century - it was just a guess. A French researcher working from Niépce's notes and copying his methods has shown the exposure time was several DAYS. Other people who have attempted to create heliographs have had the same results. Best wishes from Vermont ❄️
My ssc has not a single bit oil on the Blades. You get what you pay.
Absolute nonsense, those grey ones are for supporting Lens glass for cleaning and they are too slippy to use for removing lens rings etc, if they are already loose they'll work but have no grip whatsoever....Wrong tool for the wrong job.. The Black ones are sticky for a reason.
Hooray for Mr Wedgewood and slavery.
Is there somebody that have a video to CLA A Mamiya Sekor C 55mm F2.8 ? I have one with wet blades. Thanks in advance!
My ssc lens aperture is not activated. Anyone please help. It npt activate on mounted
hi, do you have a adopter that will allow a vintage 180mm AI lens to work on with my Nikon d7500, the camera does not have nun CPU lens settins
You talk so much shit bro...
My brother had a black FOCAL 2000 TLS which, like the Sears model you have, was a version of the Ricoh TLS. i have never seen another.
Great video, thank you very much , note to self(nts) watched all of it 56:11
God I am so thankful for this video. The name wrench from sony is like $600 something dollars and im like helllll no
Love your work dude
I love your show, and it is very helpful. However, I disagree- especially bout the bokeh. Miranda kicks Oly's butt down the block at every turn- and you don't even have the best- the real 8 element, as described in the preceding comments. Thanks!
I have a 50mm fd f1.4 ssc lens which I've had for 45 or 46 years. I used it a lot on my Canon AE-1 Program film camera for a long time. I recently bought an adapter so I can mount the lens on my new Canon DSLR camera body with a EF lens mount. Of course you have to set the aperature manually and focus manually as well, but it's cool being able to use it on my EOS Rebel T7 camera and I've had no mounting or unmounting issues with it.
Hi there. Do you have info on where to get this adapter?
eBay or Amazon search "FD to EOS with glass". You need glass in the adapter or else you can't reach infinity focus. Good luck!
I have the Minolta 58mm f1.4 and I am loving it with my Sony A7iv
pleeeease make more!
please make more!!!
awesome! very educational and rich in information. thank you so much for making this.
I am unable to install no matter how hard i tried. I did once back in 2015 now im not able to do it donno why.
As a camera-buff enthusiast I'll find this real helpful in beginning 2 clean camera lenses .. far better than those metal lens spanner wrench things ... thx
Wonderful by any chance i get his email id to contact him wonderful explained
Hi! I would like to ask a question. What adapter can I buy to attach FD lens mount to an E-mount lens. I would like to try my grandfather's old lens with my sony zv e10
Look for any adapter that says FD-NEX. K&F Concept Pro model is my favorite.
My grandfather's lens is a Sigma XQ high power zoom f=70mm-230mm with two attachable Auto Teleplus 3x/2x, will this FD-NEX adapter work?
The Topcor looks awful
I believe the SSC designation stands for the multi coating on the lens.
Thank you very much
I got 2 minutes in an had to turn it off! The presentation is terrible and convoluted.
TERRIBLE video.
The characteristics chosen for comparison are so vaguely defined and evaluation so subjective that I'd have to class this as entertainment rather than a technical comparison. I was a bit surprised that the Miranda lens seems to do as well as claimed. The Olympus lens has the advantage of nearly 20 years of improvements in glass types and coatings, plus the age of the Miranda means that it probably was designed by tradition hand-calculation methods as opposed to compute assisted design for the Oly. In fact, Miranda never designed or built it own lenses. It built only the bodies and accessories, sub-contracting its lenses to the third-party Japanese lens makers of the day. Apart from the Miranda branded lens, only Soligor made an extensive line of lenses with MIranda mounts, branded Soligor-Miranda. They were generally not as good as the "Miranda" lenses, but decent performers. In their day, the MIranda bodies were technically more advanced than most of its major competitors, and they were just as expensive. For example, MIranda was one of the first makers to adopt fully interchangeable viewing systems, including TTL metering cross coupled to aperture and shutter, at a time when Nikon was having trouble fitting a regular meter on the Nikon F, and Canon and Pentax offered no integrated metering at all. However, with developments, other makers started introducing smaller, more compact bodies with electronic controls. MIranda was too small and cash poor to pay for the development costs to keep up with the big dogs. After one troubled effort to enter the then-new market of small, automatic SLRs with its DX-3 model, MIranda closed its doors around 1975 after 20 years in the business.
Glad I found this channel/video. I am thinking on getting the FD 50mm f3.5 Macro S.C.C.
What ever happened to this series?
This is a great video for anyone challenged with this repair work. Greatly appreciate! Thanks!!
Great video and review format .... although, everything I see based on the video, I think the Minolta is the better looking of the two.
The Minolta's minimum focus distance is its worst feature. Apart from that it's a great lens (I own one).
Just purchased one of these off ebay today. It comes with a 28mm 2.8 lens. $78 for the camera and lens so if it doesn't work right it'll still look cool on the shelf 🤷
you make it look so easy, I'm trying to open mine with the rubber tool but with no success!! is there a trick? I have the SIGMA 56mm lens for E-mount
same here for my 24-70 won't twist at all just ordered the metal tool to see if it work
