Adele Fornarino: ADCC Double Gold, Life, Jiu Jitsu, Professionalism, Learning & more!
In this episode I sat down with the freshly minted 2 x ADCC Gold medalling Adele Fornarino!
Adele's accolades speak for themselves however it was really good to sit down with her and chat about her journey including navigating coach / student relationships, people pleasing, mindset and more.
Just as how we as people grow, our relationships grow with the people around us and I felt like this was an important theme that Adele and I discuss.
Adele takes a very professional approach to the sport, bringing on board people in specialised capacities that allow her to focus on what she does best.
Enjoy!

If i was 6'2 just the amount of muscle mass that comes with that would be insane( my vertical is 26 inches out of the gym without warmups and i think it's might be 28-29 inches when fully warmed up). DO WARM UPS PEOPLE it also prevents injuries.

  • @RodneyEllisAU
    @RodneyEllisAU Год назад

    Just to add some context for the comments at 1:10:00 - Kel stopped paying fees in 2011 due to personal reasons, so for 6 years he was training for free. And in that time I became a father and was in worse financial strife than he was (he knows the living situation I'm referring to). But I was expected to give up time with my young family to teach and corner at comps on the weekend, all for free. And so the people he mentions who could do privates for free ... well, I still have this rule today: "if you have a paid membership, then you don't pay additional fees for teaching privates". So the rent may have been "free" but they were still paying. I think it's only fair that if you're making money teaching privates, then you give a percentage of that back to the gym for rent. As he now knows, rent, electricity, insurance etc is expensive. Imagine working at Fitness First and giving a personal training session and expecting not to pay? I gave him 100s of free hours and it hurts like hell to cop the disrespect from him and his team now. 😢

    Fantastic interview! Although Steven did almost lose me when he brought up coffee... then he brought up the value of being honest over being nice and all was forgiven regarding the coffee! Doing my HSC there is the constant pressure to get the perfect ATAR to get into your dream course which would lead to the glamourised career- to have a plan can't be a bad thing but to have it define you as an individual is destined to end very negatively. One can be told the above over and over but hearing another's personal experience is always appreciated. I bounced between being an atheist and agnostic since I was 10 (without going into details I am a pastor's kid and saw the best and worst of church and christians) but finally became a Christian at the end of last year, for me trusting someone/having full faith in something was the sign I needed to know God was real as I have never been inclined to trust anyone. Believing that there is a higher power who is in ultimate control of your life can really put one at ease, carrying the burden of the "what if's" and allowing individuals to relax in the peace of God- by no means am I suggesting that Anxiety, stress or depression magically goes away, but I will say the pressure to "make something" of yourself is drastically reduced when your identity is in Christ rather than your own, often subjective, achievements.

      Thanks for your comment and great perspectives as well. It doesn’t really seem like a popular thing to put ‘God’ at the centre of a persons world in todays day and age, however, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t. Isn’t it funny that having conviction would make you a ‘convict’ so to speak, a word that would definitely have negative connotations to most people. All that aside, it’s like how Earth revolves around the sun, it’s gravity is our anchor to keep us on the right path, we can’t see it, we don’t really even feel it, but it’s there tethering us along. Thank you for sharing!
