    My mom, who is in her late 80s, broke a hip 11 months ago and spent last fall in the hospital. She was struggling overcoming urinary infection, was also isolated ten days due to covid during her stay and on the top of all this, she was experiencing a lot of anxiety episodes during the day, but especially at bedtime. I was visiting each and every night to make sure she would go to sleep, but at the hospital, she would not sleep more than one or two hours per night after I would leave home. At the end of her stay, she was not herself, experienced much confusion episodes, the infection was not cured clearly needed a brain booster, as it seemed completely finished.... Instead of following the head nurse's advice and sending her to her senior residence's care unit, I made the hard decision to bring her at my home and resigned from my job. I took care of her and my main focus was to work on restoring her sleeping habits and enhancing her food with much nutrients . That was at the end of November 2023. Now, in August 2024, she is a completely different person. She reads a lot, enjoys doing small grammar quizzes, we are learning back some cards games (bridge was her favorite and she was playing it quite well until the pandemic). She also follows tennis on tv with much interest, walks almost 1 km a day. Good sleeping habits was the foundation of my plan to bring her back on her feet and on the path of good health. Thanks a lot for this video. I completely trust what you say and we keep up with our work every day.

      @gregorydiamond 2 месяца назад

      Great work Dr Sada! All good exercise. My only question is how much aerobic training are you doing and are you doing some light weights training? The two major declines we experience are a lowering of our VO2 max and muscle atrophy. This means a lowering of cardiovascular fitness and strength which are the 2 most powerful indicators of morbidity. Having said that if you are 79 and healthy you can’t be doing too much wrong!😂

    • @gregorydiamond
      @gregorydiamond 3 месяца назад

      Hi Janette, unfortunately the research around brain puzzles, crosswords and other brain work is not that helpful. It appears that physical exercise is way superior to those mental games in keeping your brain intact. The brain likes challenge so keep doing you crosswords but if you want to keep the brain intact and improve its performance then you have to move!! Add to that social interaction and learning new skills ( musical instruments, languages etc) and you will really pump your brain up.

    • @gregorydiamond
      @gregorydiamond 2 месяца назад

      Agreed, but veges are important to get the natural carbs ( glucose being brain food usually, ketones if you're low carb). Having said that , exercise is the still the priority.

    • @fryertuck6496
      @fryertuck6496 2 месяца назад

      @@gregorydiamond Sorry but you are incorrect. Glucose can be used to fuel the brain, but that ends with Alzheimer's. Ketones are far superior for brain function, health and longevity with no dementia or Alzheimer's. Human brains have been shrinking again since humans started eating carbs. There is no such thing as a "healthy carb." They ALL turn to sugar in the blood

    Just found your channel. Wise words, Gregory. I have a personal trainer client who has suffered from anxiety and self-doubt since her teens (she's early 40s now). Working out in the gym really gives her a boost and she doesn't like it if she goes more than a few days without working out, for instance if she's on holiday. I have got her to do affirmations every day but at the beginning, because of her self-doubt and lack of self-belief, she was embarrassed. Now, it's part of her daily routine.
