So glad you enjoyed it. I love fruitcake. The 'plum-porridge' also evolved into what we now call steamed plum pudding that's served during the holiday, after it's been set on fire with some brandy ;-)

This dish is such a sentimental one for me. I had mother's cook make it for dinner for a young gentleman I was interested in marrying. Being desperate for a proposal I first considered getting pregnant, but that would have ruined my figure. So, in desperation I served him this very dish. All I can say I was at the alter within weeks and duly married. The recipe has captured several additional husbands over the decades. Please note, this recipes exceeds the original and all the others I have tried over the years in my quest for the perfect husband. So, fingers crossed that this even more delicious version works its magic once again and perfection at last be found. Time is of the essence!
