Blackout Boulder Brawl Highlights 2013
The 5th Annual Blackout Boulder Brawl held at MetroNorth Climbing Center in Newburyport, MA is dare I say the greatest competition the world has ever seen! Ok...maybe not, but it's pretty frickin' rad. The place is decked out with neon glow powered by hundreds of backlights. The only thing to upstage the look of the place is the climbing itself. World class boulders set above a "starry sky" effect on the floor makes the comp a can't miss.

Smuggler's Notch Bouldering

This is the latest videos for my side project Less Than Sponsored. Here we travel to Smuggler's Notch, VT. Possibly one of New England's most underutilized bouldering areas, classics litter this beautiful location tucked away in Vermont. On a weekend in July, Smuggs can be the perfect summer location as temps usually range up to 20 degrees cooler than at other crags. Not convinced yet? Check ou...

Check this out... I found a huge entrance to a vault that was carved into the side of the cliff in Smuggs. It's up to the right of the Elephant's Head on the side of the cliff. Takes some navigation to get to but I set anchors along the way where necessary to rig a fixed line and a rappel point. Here's the video describing the way I found it all. ruclips.net/video/o1qHEC8q16Y/видео.html
hey where's the crux on the roots? looks like it's the move from the sidepull to the jug.. and how hard is it beyond that?
Matt Rhodin V5 starts very low on crimps and climbs into a V3 stand start problem so its about a 3 after the low hard parts. The 5 variation definitely favors shorter folks.
Nice video. Makes me nostalgic for Smuggs. We put up a ton of problems there way back in the day. One time on Biscuit many years ago (we're talking early to mid 1990's) I stepped on the lace of my opposite shoe and got caught up trying to make the next move, and peeled off the problem sideways. I tried to break my fall with and outstretched arm and heard a loud crunch sound when I landed. Fully expected to see bone sticking out of my arm, but it was a relatively minor fracture of the radius. Good old days.
ugh... beta
By the way, after watching this again I thought I would point out that you guys might be making Boomerang harder that way. Instead of heel hooking the starting hold, try heel hooking the left arrete, directly under your hand. There is a perfect slot for it to allow you to bump up the arrete to the jug more naturally.
Haha nice to see Ben made a cameo at the end
Holy crap there's some really nice lines there! Nice video!
