Fujifilm 27mm Lens Update: V1 vs V2 – Which Should You Buy?
I share my thoughts why you should get Fujifilm XF27MM second version of the lens even though previously I said it isn't necessary. After using the second version of XF27mm f/2.8 lens I changed my mind and there is few reasons to that.

is the stuffing on the thinner side or still thick and warm?
I’m actually buying this lens tomorrow for its weight, size, good image quality and power zoom. I have the classic prime lenses like the 18 & 35mm but i want a small and compact zoom. I have recently been exploring more with video of late and the older lenses are quiet noisy, I understand that the auto focus is very quiet on the 15-45 in comparison so wont be so noticeable on the audio. The manual zoom ring actually becomes the manual focus when you place the camera in manual focus. The other advantage of power zoom is that although there is no dedicated buttons on the camera it can be zoomed remotely through the app or using other accessories such as the Fuji tripod grip. In my opinion this lens is a little gem for the price which can be obtained really cheap in the second hand market in new condition as many people snob it off because of build quality and lack of aperture ring & lack of F-stops etc…another bonus is it has Optical Image Stabilization which many don’t know too although not magnificent it’s still good for 2 f-stops. This lens is great value for the price in my opinion.
Hello! Nice video. 6:03 to quick format the SD card "The format menu can also be displayed by pressing the center of the rear command dial while pressing and holding the delete button" (From the camera's manual, page 210). Hope it helps! 🙂 (I tried it on mine and works).
I would have kept the XT30ii ;)
Cool to see the update and your thoughts on the V2. I'm still happy with my lowly TTA 27 haha My newest purchase (and hopefully last for a while lol) was the TTArtisan 10mm F2, and I really like it! I've never had a wider lens than 16mm so this is a new experience for me, but I've already use it to shoot astro/aurora, landscape, and some real estate, and it's performed very well.
None. I sold all my Fuji cameras. 😅
Hi Jev, I have a question: since you use an APSC camera, are you talking in 35mm or crop x1.5 focal lengths?
I know many reviewers criticized this lens for the lack of character , not creating 3d pop images and being flat which I've never understood..been using this over 3 years and could say so far it's worked for me very well..believe it or not even had taken my best portrait shots with it..and I have various lenses including LM 1.4's..Sharp as a knive, small and discreet easy to carry around plus weather sealed beautiful looking..what else could you ask for..
I opted for v2 as well and use this on my xe2 and xs10. I use the the aperture ring all the time and it’s smooth 🤙🏼
Mine will be arrive tonight. I am so excited.
Really Really love how you tied "imperfection" to the "imagination". I've been doing photography professionaly for 3 years and have never looked at it that way.
No IBIS or dual card slots
Hey! I’m a beginner looking to buy my first camera and can’t decide between the X-T5 and X-S20 (or maybe even a Sony?). I’m mainly into street photography, portraits, and landscapes, but I’d also like to vlog some moments with family and friends. I love the retro design and manual controls on the X-T5, but the X-S20 seems more practical for video. Should I go for the X-T5 with the 23mm or 33mm f/1.4, or would the X-S20 with the kit lens and a prime be a better choice? Or maybe it’s worth waiting for a firmware update to see if Fuji addresses the autofocus issues? I’m looking for something that will last me for years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hey, thanks for reaching out! To decide between these two cameras you need to decide how important is video aspect of the camera for you. The X-S20 has slight edge in vide with Open Gate recording, rotatable screen to film yourself for example and bigger battery in more compact body. On the other hand X-T5 is a bit bigger, but with more pleasant design, 40mpix, tilting screen instead rotating and it also can shoot 6.2k but not Open Gate and weather sealing. So if you need open gate video, rotating screen and as compact body as possible then X-S20 would be better, otherwise X-T5 will be great too.
@@ShotsByJev Thank you!
does your camera can digital zoom? what is that zoom on 1:25
No, it is the XC15-45mm fujifilm lens that has that powerzoom that looks like on old digital cameras.
I just found your channel, looking into getting the X-S20 for my daughter... Looks like a great camera and a great lens system... would love to see yiur thoughts on the 2 "kit" lenses, especially the comparison and which you keep or why... I'm thinking the new power zoom would be great for a lot of cases, and the lenses on my wish list would be the Sigma 10-18 and 18-50 f/2.8 zooms, and their 56mm prime... all fairly small lenses for their speed ... then someday the 50-140mm/2.8 maybe... I've recently gotten put my old Pentax to use since my daughter has expressed an interest in photography... Hopefully she takes ti it and it ends up being something we can enjoy together... i used to take a lot of photos and haven't recently for some reason...
What focus type were you using? was it single point?
Hey! Yeah, I usually shoot with single AF point
Thank you!
Do you manually adjust ISO or is it on AUTO? If auto, what is your setting? ☺️
The xm5 sets a new standard for the Fuji pricing. It's a pity .
I guess it all began with X-T50
@ShotsByJev that's true
they been having issue many years ago
Yeah, but since they fixed it in X-M5 I don't why they couldnt fix the same issues on other cameras with same processor.
IMO, the X-M5 offers much better value than X-T30II and an exponentially better value over the X-T50. Sort of pocket friendly. And while I personally dont like the film simulation dial, I do think its ok on the X-M5.
That it is a better value than X-T30ii is obvious because it has better specs, more compact size and just no EVF and flash which for me wouldnt be a problem at all. If I were to buy one today I would definitely pick X-M5 over X-T30ii.
@@ShotsByJevI have not done a comparison between the two models... what specs does the M5 have that the XT30ii does not have?
Mainly newer processor which brings improved autofocus, slightly better power efficiency, 6.2k open gate recording, digital stabilisation, reala ace film simulation. So quite a lot actually
Thank you Jev! Indeed quite a few. The question, as always, is whether you really need all these new features. For me not having a view finder is clearly a deal breaker.
Yeah, it depends on everyone preferences, I wear glasses so usually shoot through screen instrad of evf, so for me absence of evf wouldnt be as huge as for you. On its own X-T30ii is still great option if you dont need that 6.2k open gate video recording
paired with a small pancake would this new xm5 be an alternative fo pocketable size cams such as ricohs? torn between this and gr3..
Oh, thats a good one! I think it depends on how compact camera you want. If you want as compact camera as possible to be able to put it in your pants pocket then Ricoh might be better choise, but for me the ability to interchange lenses would be more benefitial, so I would get X-M5 with 27mm lens.
@ thanks 🙏🏻 guess coat pocket would be fine..since coming from a fuji system already having a 27mm,probably xm5 will be my choice either
27mm is noisy and slow but sharp
I have never bought a FujiFilm camera before. I owned Pentax, Nikon, and recently Blackmagic for film purposes but missed having a stills's camera. I really wanted something to put in my pocket and hand held for video and this camera kind of fit the bill. I have only had it for less than a week but it's compatible with Blackmagic raw too for editing purposes if anyone knows anything about that??????
The built in noise cancelation is horrible. I'd skip it and use ClarityVX or the voice isolation in DaVinci Studio.
am suprised that when you mention that people who sold the xs20 barely used it, happen it to me as well. i bought my used xs20 at lower price, at 99% brand new. the previous owner probably didnt use it much and the price is bang for buck. another reason which i agree is the battery life. having the new npw235 really brings extra benefits without worrying that you run out of power halfway. i was able to do my shoots whole day without worrying. as for the design and size, i seen too many people fall for the retro design and stuck in between xt4, xt5 without giving the xs series a look (or a try). i use to dislike the xs series until i finally gave out on my xt3, look at whats the best featured camera right now and get the xs20 after it ticks everything on my list.
Great shots! May I ask what lens and which simulators did you use?
Hey, I used XC15-45 lens that is linked in the description and the film recipe I used was this one ruclips.net/video/PwhCE53K8mQ/видео.html
@@ShotsByJev Thank you very much! This film fits perfect for Greece! Can´t wait for more street POV photography, perhaps show us also the process on how you adjust the images as well
Was that zone focusing for the street photography?
I use spot focus and move it around woth joystick 😊
Fujifilm's colors 😍
Hey! Which mm of mist filter is compatible for xt30ii?
Hey! Filter size depends not on the camera, but on the lens, how wide it is. The filter size is written on the lens or you can search filter size for particural lens you have
@@ShotsByJev hahah yess sorry it was a stupid question. i am trying to buy one soon and just learning now. thank you for your reply! cheers
No ibis & body stabilizer -_-
I think it's funny how much emphasis is put on how fast the zoom or focus is. Unless you're an event journalist or a sports and wildlife photographer what on earth difference does it make whether you can take a picture in a split second or not? By far most of the pictures you take will give you plenty of time to frame it, zoom it and focus. The image quality is really all that matters and this lens is great.
That is spot on! Couldnt agree more!
LOL vegans don't take pictures apparently. Fun video! I'm a foot walker, wine and black coffee drinker, spicy vegetarian, low key clothes 50mm shooter ('cause it's classy).
I preordered the x-m5 body only …better to buy 56mm f1.7 and pay a little more…. Thanks for your help
Keep in mind, that 56mm wont have OIS, and this zoom one does, consider this because X-M5 doesnt have IBIS
This is breathtakingly nostalgic! Can I ask what type of lense you used for those shots? Thank you!
Thanks! If I remember correctly it was XC15-45, I have linked my street photography gear in the description
I have a ZV-e10. Colors seem quite off. Blonde hair extensions turn orange. No PP or other enhancements enabled. Had a chance to shoot with the X-T20, things look great out of the box. Not much editing needed. Does something like the A7iii have better colors out of the box than the ZV-e10, or might it be a better option for me to choose something along the lines of an X-T3?
Recipe???
I shot it in raw and edited with my preset
Great photo! What lens are you using?
It is yn50mm f1.8 pro
Is it only my experience that the exposure compensation dial is kinda tight to turn? Because of that I end up pushing the function which is in front of it all the time. Is your X-T30 II the same?
Is it only my experience that the exposure compensation dial is very tight to turn? Because of that I end up pushing the function which is in front of it all the time. Is your X-T30 II the same?
Terrific breakdown. I’d love to see similar shows for each episode. 0:02
Do i still have to adjust ISO, exposure, when using film simulation?
Yes, ofcourse, film simulation just adjust the colors of the image. If you find it a but diffocult with iso, exposure try shooting in Program mod, than camer will adjust settings for you and you will only need to adjust exposure compensation dial.
I use 50mm. i rent house, i use old fashion, i use my old motorcycle from my parent and im poor😢
Well, I didnt meantioned once about wealth and money. Sometimes if you dont have something doesnt mean you wouldn like to own one day, its more about interests, not about what you currently have. Old motorcycle sounds very cool and can add to your overall self image!
Such a fun video. I found myself agreeing with every lens match. Well done!
Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Yes, I rock a 16mm lens, and yes I don't have a car because I ride my vintage hand built bicycle everywhere. 😂
Busted haha!
"Don't take this personally" HOW DARE YOU. 35-150mm. It says I'm done carrying three or more lenses to any shoot.
You are as practical as it can get!
What about someone that traded in their 70-200 for a 50mm
Have you left your job at secret services??
I thought this was gonna be a flop; but it was light & fun. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!

It is not about what you currently own, it is more about your intersts and personality
