DIY - How to Immersion Cool ANY Asic Miner like a Pro! S19, 1246, M30
Просмотров 27 тыс.2 года назад
This is a complete guide on immersion cooling my S19j 90th or Avalon 1246 85th. This system will work for any Asic Miner! I’ve spent the past few months trying to perfect an immersion cooling system for my Asic miners. There’s limited information out there on the topic so I thought I would share with you my setup and what I’ve learned in the process. 1. I am a DIY’er - not an electrician, plumb...
the pipe are pvc or special pvc?
@@pierrelacraberie5542 pvc, but that’s short term use only. I’d recommend doing copper or a higher quality pvc to ensure no leaks
Thanks for sharing that I was kinda debating to do immersion on my ASICS before watching you vid makes me feel more comfortable doing back in the air from tank. Will be using C6 by Foghashing hopefully works out ok.
Awesome! Happy to hear. I’m sure it will work just fine. Any issues, just comment and I’ll try to help!
Same!
Hi boss You need a attractive youtube thumbnail designer and RUclips video SEO expert?
Thank you man!!! hope you are well
What if you just ran 2 of the same machines at once for the oil radiators? Would it be better than 1 larger unit?
It would work, but Would be a lot more plumbing. More connections, more risk of leaks, more maintenance etc. it’s better to use one properly sized rad for them
Electricity 😂😂
please help ive refreshed angry ip scanner about 10 times and still no miners show up?
Great video. I bought the cooler like yours, but I don't know how to connect the wire to plug it into the socket.
Hey! I wonder if you could do an update, please? I’m watching this video one year later and I wonder how’s the mining is going. Thank you!
Damn good tutorial
electricity cost will be a little less because holidays (~12 per year) are all off-peak
yes
I am looking to build a tank and your video is amazing 🤩 Thank you for sharing this..
Appreciate it! Best of luck!
I see 50 amp split phase outfits identical to the s19 plug st home depot. It even comes in its own thermoplastic surfsce mount box like i have on my oven has. Why did you opt to cut off the plug snd use rhe 20amp version?
You can see in their other video that they had a Chinese 240V plug on their S19. So I guess why bother paying extra for bigger plug, bigger breaker and thicker wire for a 50amp box when 20amp will do. If they even have the capacity in their service for two more 50a breakers and complying with code.
Great proof of work
Do you take out the PSU fans? Also, wondering how you get a water tight seal with the heat at 40+C Any redundancy in case of pump failure or leak? Does it shut-down the miner?
Yes you must take out the PSU fans. I’ve always been a little worried about my aquarium seals leaking with the temps, But so far it hasn’t been an issue. I have an Inkbird temp sensor in the coolant with a set high/low range that gives me notifications to my phone if something were to go wrong. Worst case I’m not around, the miners have auto overheat shutdowns built in..but of course you never want it to come to that.
@@BackyardBitcoinIm bouncing around between buying a DCX solution or DIY, your vid was great advice. Thanks
@@ronwatkins5775 thank you. you can make your own significantly cheaper if you are willing to put in the time and are a little bit handy. Roughly 1/3rd of the cost. If I were to do it again I would use a metal tank to ensure there’s no issues. A fabrication shop can weld one easily for you. Feel free to drop me an email jordyandrew@live.ca I can save you a lot of time and help you avoid mistakes. I also already know the exact tank dimensions you’ll need to make it work. I also have a two spare pumps and another heat exchanger this size I can sell to you for cheap. It’s just taking up space in my garage. Im always willing to help out, reach out anytime.
@@BackyardBitcoinYes, im looking to house approx 8x KS3 miners (3.3kw) total, so about 33KW at 80%. I think I would go with a welded stainless tank. Im not sure I like the idea of pumping the oil through to the dry cooler though, I would prefer a local heat exchanger design to keep the oil side minimized with fewer potential pain points. Ive been investigating DCX and Fog hashing options. I think I would want some redundancy in my pump setup or at least a way to auto-shutdown the rigs if the temps are too high. My setup would have the dry cooler outside through a wall, similar to how mini-split AC's are setup.
@@ronwatkins5775 for sure. Stainless tank all the way. As long as you use yellow gas tape and pipe dope combined you’ll no leaking issues as all, not even a drop. If you do decide to go with something similar to mine or if you need anything let me know I’ll sell you the exchanger for $500. I also have one of the pumps that DCX uses as well and viton seals for use in a 1” threaded steel tank setup. No problem either way, best of luck with the build🤙🏻
The air bubbles are really bad! They will get caught in the hashboards and make hot pockets. You need to tweak the setup and make it run more smooth
I Haven’t had any issues with hot spots thus far. I do monitor the pcb temps often and they have been consistent, but I’m certainly open to improvements, thanks. What would I have to tweak to get rid of the bubbles?
Yep me too
fwiw, i learned that bubbles are bad for an immerson system. that huge fan is probably helping a lot by being OP... but typically, you want flow across components without any bubbles at all.
Thanks for the info, you are correct. I have learned that this is more efficient as well…but I haven’t been able to get rid of them unfortunately. But like you said I have a plenty large heat exchanger so I can run with some bubbles.
@@BackyardBitcoin Yup, for sure. agreed... and hey, I was worried after posting that you might think I'm criticizing your set-up (was just aiming to be helpful to future readers actually). So I want to say thanks for being gracious.
the best thing for acrylic, especially if you can lasercut the acrylic, is acrylic cement.... it is not an adhesive at all, it fuses the acrylic, as in, it basically chemically melts/welds the seam together. Nothing to interact with the coolant. you're only left with welded acrylic. The reason i mention lasercutting is because it'd be the absolute cleanest edge for welding. If you use a rough cutting tool like a table saw, you might get a textured cut making a clean weld difficult.
nevermind, I noticed in another video that you didn't use acrylic... my bad.
Thanks for the great videos. It helps a lot ❤
GM and great video brotha, I didn't want to pay with crypto in a bear market id be losing out lol. thats good that I found that website all my research let me to this video.
What's up bro I'm talking about Brazil and here we don't have DIY videos for this subject. I'm impressed. Three questions: Has the noise decreased much? Why didn't you submerge the entire asic? Do I need to do any preparation on the asic before diving into the oil? (in addition to removing the coolers). Thank you very much! Brazilian greetings!
Thank you! Greetings🇧🇷 1. Yes immersion cooling is completely silent, the only noise you will have is from your heat exchanger fan. 2. This is one of my earlier builds, I have since modified the hot/cold side divider to be a couple Inches higher to completely submerge both asics. This is actually very important for optimal heat dissipation. If it’s too short, the hot oil can pool up and cause poor flow. 3. You will need to remove the all of the fans and get fan spoofers to trick the asics into thinking the fans are running. You plug them into where the fans plug into. I do have all of the supplies to build a another complete system if you are interested as well or I can send you the just the parts for a DIY build. I have another heat exchanger, pump, tank, fittings, etc. Hope this helps out! Let me know if you have any more questions or need any parts for your builld.
where did you get oil pump
You can get them on Amazon or aquarium/fish type websites. I have the link in my original immersion video in the description
Details on your big parts please (heat exchanger, pump, and tank). Awesome vid!
Nevermind, I see some of your replies
ruclips.net/video/AxdQhgmATv0/видео.htmlsi=MfK2VIRlmoruT_Ao Please check the description in this video, all parts are listed. Thanks! Also if you are building a setup I have a spare one of these heat exchangers still, a pump and other parts as well.
My order from BT miners 3 weeks ago, till today still haven’t ship, beware this scam company
Hello, could you tell me which pump are you using? I have bought several but none are good for my project, thanks.

Bro, you’re my F*ckin’ hero! So impressed!
Thanks man! Motivates me to make more videos, I haven’t in quite a while, as it’s very time consuming
Does this will work on my RTX 3060 graphic card also?
Tbh, I’m not sure. I’ve only done it with asics.
Did you overclock the 1246?
When I put my ip address in it took me right to slush pool also I’m not sure if my miner is working correctly it say it’s disabled
How many liters/hour of pump do you use?
Hey good video, what pump are you using in the loop?
Great setup, do you know what the temp of the fluid is as it enters the heat exchanger?
A apologize I missed this question, if you still need help I’ll put my temp gun on the the pipes and get the info for you.
6:23 I only have the [auto] option and cannot change it or add any other name. My miners are online but slushpool says “disabled”. I don’t know what the issue is, but it’s really annoying.
I have same problem
Thanks for the help =]
great video. thanks for making it
No problem!
Cool, do you use radiator 200L/min for 2x Avalon miner 6600watt? Is 200L/min enough for 2 units? :)
You’ll need a 250-300L model that states (26Kw or more) I actually have one for sale on ebay right now. The exact model you need. I’m currently cooling 6500w with this model \/ www.ebay.ca/itm/225373028504?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=h_thi8k6qcm&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=h_thi8k6qcm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
done mining?
No still mining away! this is an extra unit
A god amongst men. Thank you!
No problem! Glad I could help!
What type of heat exchanger did you use outside? I try to find some like that but can't find them quickly.
They can be tricky to find. It’s an Eternal model AH1890T-CA. I have a spare one in my garage if you are interested. Fire me a text 807-472-5855

Can you help me by saying the model of the pump?
You can come to us to choose the right radiator. We are the source factory, and we can customize various sizes and power according to customers' needs, in addition to the universal models.
Very informative! thank you!
Are you still mining. I am trying to decide which way to go cooling plate or oil what do you think
Sure am, systems been running flawlessly for months now. I’d go oil personally, but it just really depends on what your goals/needs are.
Hi Jordy, Very interesting setup! Question? How do the miners create a perfect seal on top of the cold side? Or do you just use the weight of the miners?
Hey, thanks! I adjusted the carriage bolts so that they are lined up flush with miner. By no means a “seal” but it’s flush, so next to nothing escapes out the sides. I don’t put the weight of the miners directly on them as it may cause the flow plate to break. If you have 2 of the same miners I’d recommend one solid piece along the bottom with flow holes, as it’s much stronger. I had to get creative as my miners are different sizes.
@@BackyardBitcoin Thankyou for the clarification. I am currently in the designing stages of making my own immersion cooling system all from stainless steel plating. I was thinking of putting in a rubber seal on the flow plate which bolts onto the miners via the fan screw holes, creating a perfect seal. the design will also feature a sealable lid on top of the tank to prevent contamination. instead of am immersion pump, it will just have a welded on external barb fitting on the hot side, where the pump will connect too. Similar concept for the cold side aswell.
@@SupermestRain32 I like the ideas, and good choice of building material. I added an in line gas filter vs a lid for mine just because my tanks glass. Or I’d probably just make a top for it as welll. Dust, pet hair, etc will build up over time so it’s a good idea. If you don’t have a heat exchanger yet let me know i have an extra one sitting in my garage that I want gone sooner than later! Lots of flex room on the price as well.
@@BackyardBitcoin Still in the market for one. Whatcha got?
@@SupermestRain32 I posted my ph# for you to contact for the last 4 days, but can’t leave it on here any longer. If still interested let me know.

Very good tutorial thanks. I am new to mining and i am thinking about getting a Bitcoin Miner S19j Pro+ so i am wondering something about slushpool. Where do the actual mined bitcoin go? Does it go to a slashpool account or to a wallet that you connect slashpool with? If it goes to the slashpool account when is it possible to transfer it to other wallets?
This is so awesome mate! Great work
