Chelsea Afternoon by Janek Gwizdala with drum set.

As part of my practice routine, I like to play along to certain artist's recordings and try to provide a musical and complementary drum set/percussion accompaniment. I've been a big fan of the music of Janek Gwizdala for a long time, and often find myself using his tunes as backing tracks for practicing, and trying to come up with new ideas. This is Janek's tune "Chelsea Afternoon", which he re...
Short Ride-Adam Hopper and Andrey Goncalves

"Short Ride" is a fun electronic based play along for Drum Set or other percussion instruments. It works great as a duet. Here is a quick video of my buddy Andrey Goncalves and me doing a virtual duet of the tune. Check out the track for download at www.hopperpercussion.com. You can enter your own price and download it straight to your device. Have fun. Andrey Goncalves is a bass guitar player ...

Genius! Is this avaible for Solo and ensamble??
Best idea… what a fantastic opportunity for people to turn a solo into an ensemble opportunity. Wind ensemble/orchestra versions soon??? This would CRUSH as a single movement concertina option
I’m doing this Solo as a juries piece, very convenient uploading time thank you!!
Fantastic bro! Great work!
This was the solo that got me to state(or was it area? It's been awhile since I been in band) my senior year after covid. I wish I could do an ensemble as it sounds so magical ✨️
That’s crazy, I performed this the following year after covid! Which I also took it to state in Austin TX
I’m playing this for UIL Solo and Ensemble. I’m a freshman currently
I played this back in highschool and it’s still the only marimba piece I still know how to play. I love it so much. Recently I’ve been wanting to listen to marimba music again for nostalgia, but I never ended up doing it. And then today when I opened RUclips, this video popped up as the first thing on my feed. I think the universe wanted me to see this again to respark my love for marimba. I’ve watched this video so many times over the years, especially when I was first learning it. Thank you very much for sharing it ❤
What mallets are you using?
Those are Robert van sice mallets from Vic firth
I played this in high school but still come back occasionally years later to listen to it. Such a beautiful, breathtaking piece.
Good morning Adam, I’m performing this piece for a concert next week May 3rd and I’m being asked for a publication date but can only find the year 2015
Publication date should be in the copyright line on the page. Thanks for playing my stuff! Good luck on your performance.
I love this piece! It falls in a category that I stuggle to find in 4 mallet marimba music, and that is: a piece that has both high artistic merit and develops practical technique in a balanced way. In other words, its perfect for my students who already have a couple easy 4 mallet solos under their belt and need to start transistioning to more advanced stuff
These people look very familiar...
amazing!
Drummer holding it down nice!
I spent half a year to working on this solo. I know that sounds long, but I started early for a set performance. As I’m writing this, I just played it for the last time. This song was a blast and a phenomenal first four-Mallet piece to learn the ropes. Thanks for making it and I fully recommend you all try it. 10/10
Learning it right now
I’m learning it rn too, have you noticed in the published version that measures 33-36 and measure 50, along with various other places, sound different in the recording than what’s on the score? It’s been bugging me, especially since I think the version in the recording is far groovier.

Fun Fact: the B section of this piece and the song Lo Que Siento by Cuco have the same chords

I have fallen in love with this piece of music ! ❤️
Measure 25 just melts my soul !
I did amazing on my solo! Got a 1C!
Thats awesome man!
Bruh I'm late
Playing this for UIL Solo and Ensemble in February. So excited! This looks so fun to play
I love this song just listening to it and doing the hand coordination. I want to do this for solo and ensemble
Hermoso tema! Mis saludos y respetos desde Argentina...
The end of section A and section B have different notes than what’s played
They totally do! I’m really annoyed about this bc the version he plays in the recording is groovier than the score, especially the modification of the high F, D, and C to a G, D, and F in measure 50, and the completely different measures 33-36. But yeah, there are weird inconsistencies in the first sections too. If I ever perform this piece in a competition, I will be confined to the far more boring version that’s available online. Adam Hopper, more like Adam Flopper.
@@joshuadorsam4619 where are the inconsistencies in 33-36. I am learning this solo and he plays it just like the score.
@@prjtsrnvs670 Which score are you using? In my score, measures 33-35 are a F - G - Am progression, whereas in the vid he plays a more interesting G4, A4, Bdim. Also yeah measure 50 is completely different
@@joshuadorsam4619 perhaps many versions came out. In my score the LH in M33-36 plays C F : D G : and E A. And the last chord is Bb, D, F, A
Is there a buyable PDF of this?
