36 inch SMC-GEC Ceiling Fan (feat. Lachlan’s Lights and Fans)
G’day fellas
This is an SMC-GEC 36 inch (900mm) ceiling fan from from around 1993 (from last time I checked the date code). This is the J-Hook variant.
This fan was given to me by fellow fan collector and great friend of mine, Lachlan’s Lights and Fans, who is featured in this video. So big thanks to him. It came from a demolition sale, of a 1960s house. It had another SMC GEC ceiling fan, this one a 48 inch, with very noisy bearings. Also had a couple of Mercator Swift fans, and a few variable speed Mistral MCFAs, which the one I have also came from that sale.
Performance is decent, despite in my opinion they are not the best fans, but they are not totally shit either. There are worse fans...

TAT-Martec UFO Motor (Likely 1st Iteration Model) Ceiling Fan w/ Oyster Light
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.День назад
Here is my 48 inch (1200mm) industrial variant Martec UFO (manufactured by TAT) ceiling fan with an older design oyster light kit on it. This is one of the older iterations of the UFO motor fans, with a flowerpot canopy, brass trim around the motor, and is non-reversible. Collectors refer to these fans as such because the design of the motor looks like a flying saucer. Dates to most likely the ...

G’day guys, This is an MCFA Style 1 ceiling fan that I got alongside a 36 inch (900mm) SMC GEC ceiling fan. They came from a demolition sale in South Australia, from a 1960s house that was about to be demolished. These date to around the early 80s. I’m sure all, if not most, of you might know him but fellow Australian fan collector, Lachlan, got this and the GEC for me. As well as a few more MC...
Globo “Champion” Ceiling Fan

Hey fellas, Here is something you don’t see often in Australia as it is a European ceiling fan, that was not primarily available in Australia except for one (trusted) supplier that I know of. That supplier being Creoven. You can still import one from Ebay but costs an arm and a leg for something simple and probably cheaply fabricated. This one was one of two for sale on FB Marketplace. It is a ...
Seabreeze Ceiling Fan. Decorative/Residential Model.

Hi guys, Here is my Seabreeze rattan blade fan I got recently. This one has had some strange doings done with it in the past. The canopies and down rod are from a 90s Reef Breeze fan, it’s funny though because Seabreeze fans are older than the Reef Breeze ones so I dont know why they went through the trouble of replacing the original hardware except the motor and blade assemblies, from a differ...
Mistral MCFLA56 Ceiling Fan

Hey fellas. This is my first 56 inch ceiling fan of my fan collection. It is a Mistral MCFLA56 ceiling fan, dating to around the early 80s. This size is not as prevalent as the other sizes that were available for this fan. Performance is excellent, despite the lack of speed it throws out a great deal amount of air. The capacitor is fine in it as I checked it with my multimeter, it is just the w...
GEC (Emcorp(?) Iteration) Decorative Ceiling Fan. “Raffles” Finish

Hey fellas, This is my GEC Raffles Decorative ceiling fan I got recently. The fan has never been installed and the box was still sealed up, hence why it still looks new. I believe this is the last iteration of the GEC ceiling fans before the brand vanished from the face of the Earth. Despite this, these fans continued to be manufactured for a few more years under the brand “Hero”. The OEM for t...

Well this is the first video I have made for a while. This is my first collection ceiling fan actually. It’s a Mistral 1510 with clear acrylic blades. Ones with this blade style are not common except for Western Australia. What makes this even more uncommon is that this was a NOS find, meaning it was never installed. They are EVERYWHERE at education institutes here in Perth and WA. My high scho...
1950s-1960s Celco “Revelair” Desk Fan

This is my Celco Revelair desk fan from the 1950s or early 60s. I made this mainly because I’m aware that some of my fellow viewers and subscribers are fan collectors themselves. This fan is in very good shape and it runs well. I put this fan into a lot of use during the summertime. I bought it from an antique & secondhand shop which in Christmas Eve 2021, partially succumbed to a fire.
Philips 02TA142 12” B&W Television. Part 2 - Power Up

G’day friends! This is part 2 of the series with the Philips 02TA142 television. In this part I had replaced the power cord (and accidentally burned myself with the soldering iron doing so…), powered up the set, look at the picture geometry, and watch some telly! The next part or parts are about rebuilding the wooden frame.
Philips 02TA142 12” B&W Television. Part 1 - Analysis

G’day everyone. I recently acquired this old Philips black and white television set, a few days ago. The electronics, physically, are fine. But the wooden frame around it is in HORRIBLE shape. It has warped and rotted, with mould inside, as a result of being stored in a damp location (shed, attic etc,) for some time. The wooden frame will need to be rebuilt with new wood grain laminate. This is a Natural 10 colour television set from somewhere between 1980 and 1982. A pretty automatic tv if I do say so myself hehe. G’day everyone! Yes I am back on RUclips, uploading new content! This is a National (Panasonic) TR-100 black and white television set I got a few weeks back. This unit had a display issue which I was able to rectify. These were made from 1972 to 1975. Yet the date on this one is unknown. There is a town located about 84 km from Perth, named Bindoon. The town museum has this model on display.
Aussie industrial ceiling fans are quite interesting, they always seem to have that light on the bottom

No, I am not interested. Thank you.
Nice don’t know why but I was just waiting for this fan also didn’t you say you had a martec reef breeze in brass with white blades and an oyster light kit what does that look like
Yes I do. It’s the iteration (and probs the most common iteration) where the motor design looks similar to a Bel-Air ceiling fan.
@@justderpy3043oh yeah I have a bel air
Very fast
Haha yep, it does take off a bit.
Nice fan what sort of light globes are in it
Originally it had two CFL globes in it but I threw them out and stuck two warm white LED globes in it. Bayonet fit. I don’t like CFL globes much.
Yeah your better off with led I the classic ceiling fan in my bedroom that was up for a while I put a halagon light bulb in it that I got from bunnings and it got too hot and it was burning the white tubing that covers the wiring where the light socket is inside the light
I have this fan and I live in the uk I got it from a b&q hardware store they still do these now
Oh nice. They are a popular design over in the UK and rest of Europe. I have heard of B&Q before.
WAT
Huh? It’s a European ceiling fan.
Nice and classic! I have a similar one from Styling in polished brass with tulip lights. Yes it's true that 107 cm seems to be a rare blade diameter in Australia.
Ooo nice, I think I had come across it a few times.
Me gusta como se tambalea
I have one one of these but mine has a bad capicitor I’m they sell brand new capititors from ebay
Works pretty good
Cheap, but can surely get that job done
That’s a really cool fan
Thanks! It’s a nice looking ceiling fan for what it is.
@@justderpy3043 Nice I went to a demolition sale today and scored a vintage martec tat ceiling fan
Weird seeing you again, if you don't remember I WAS awesomedude456456. Hope you're doing well after all these years
Oh yeah, I think I do actually. Yeah I’ve been doing well. You?
Can you make more fans in Roblox please?
Sorry mate, I don’t go on ROBLOX much anymore these days.
Very nice! Simple and classic. I like how it also has some brass accents on it instead of being all brown.
Thanks Jean, nice of you to pop by! This is actually my first brown ceiling fan of my collection.
That light kit doesn’t suit the fan lol
I agree with you, not to mention that I think the oyster light design is a bit crap. It is designed to have two globes but the globes I have that go into the type of fitting (bayonet) are too cumbersome for the glass to fit on.
@@justderpy3043 Yeah personally don’t really like oyster light kits on fans I just think there too bulky and too hard to fit on the clipper light kits I found are much easier to attach to the fan
@@RyanFowler-co1xf Oh yeah. At the moment, I currently do not own a ceiling fan with a clipper light, but I’m trying to chase a decent one though!
@@justderpy3043yeah I’ve got quite a few fans with clipper lights and not many with oyster light kits I have a 36 inch Clipsal airflow with an oyster light kit and a cane blade one aswell as a martec tropical breeze and a brass and white martec reef breeze which is installed in my bedroom at my dads house
You’re such a lucky person to have a fan like that would easily pay anyone over $1000 for the blades not sure if they’re original but people pay a lot for the blades 😢
Dancing fan
Nice fan could you film the European one that you have next
The European fan is on my bucket list. I’ll film it sometime soon.
@@justderpy3043 oh yeah what do you mean that it’s a European fan did it come from Europe or is it just European style
@@RyanFowler-co1xf Yes, it sure did come from Europe. The brand is Globo, and the model name is “Champion”, I have the antique brass finish with woodgrain cane blades.
@@justderpy3043 that is really cool
I would love to get river the pancake moter or the normal gold line moter ones there’s all different models there’s the brown cane blade which is the raffles then there’s the makay which is the white or beige then there’s the 3 blade wood blade fan which is the Windsor and the the brushed brass and came blade with the school house light kit is the light and breezy and I don’t know what the brass ones with the stencils blades is called
Hehe nice.
An interesting fan, a combination of a decorative ceiling fan and an industrial ceiling fan
Haha yeah it sure is. Most commonly these had 3 rattan blades.
Very nice!
Nice!
Cheers!
That’s a really cool fan what other ceiling fans do you have
Thanks Ryan. I’ve got quite a few interesting ceiling fans actually. I have a 1st gen rattan blade brass Martec UFO motor fan, as well as a cream aluminium blade one with one of those old school design oyster lights.I have a DEMC 36 inch. A MCFLA 56 inch. As well as a 42 inch European rattan blade pullchain operated fan that made its way here! That’s only naming a few.
@@justderpy3043 nice which one are going to film next
@@RyanFowler-co1xf Not too sure at this stage yet matey.
All good
There’s also a 4 blade version of this
I have one with plastic blades bought new about 1972 still have the box ,it works great .
Is there a way to Playback recording from DEC cameras? And also is there a way to put ALL of the cameras on my screen without having to switch camera by camera?
I have a natural 24 can’t get it to tune
Thanks for the video, I’m trying to track down my childhood crt , All I can remember is that it was a dial SHARP tv from the early 80s in Australia. So I have to use the old detective skills. Are you using a digital box set for the tv Channel reception? I thought they switched off the analog signals in Australia. Sorry if you covered that in this video and I missed it.
Yep, this is receiving TV via a set top box, then through an RF modulator as this TV has antenna input only. Also, no worries mate.
Just asking are you justderpy on roblox?
Yes I am!
@@justderpy3043 Oh I'm friends with you, if you go to your friends list you'll see WhyRURunning as the display name, or goodgamerjoey as my user, it's an inactive account unfortunately
Your 12 inch Revelair fan was actually made in the early 1960s. The leaking grease from the gearbox can be fixed by replacing the O ring on the end of the output shaft. I noticed a slight hesitation of the fan head as it drops down during oscillation - this is caused by wear of the gearbox horizontal shaft end pins. You can fix this by loosening the screws on the underside of the gearbox, then carefully ‘tap in’ the end of the pin to take up the slack - you want zero end float play but still want the shaft to spin freely. You can stop the fan oscillating by loosening the large screw on the underside of the gearbox output wheel enough to move the ball out of the outer position and into the centre position and then retighten the screw. Your blades are painted with the same hammer tone silver paint as the rest of the fan body. Nice condition fan BTW.👍🙂
Thank you for your information. I’ll take it into consideration.
Awesome
Nice job!
Nice
Cool video, love national TVs. We had a Quntrix when I was a kid. I am an Aussie and I certainly remember black and white, showing my age :)
worth noting that the uhf in Australia during late 70 - late 80s may have been for rural areas in Australia as often would only be one channel if you were not in Metro Area! Was stoked when TV channels reached the whole country though that was ABC channel 2 first and the rest later. Still we were better off than NZ, think they are still capped at a few channels.
Just got a UK version of one of these and it too has the squealing flyback. I'll be doing a repair video on it soon.
Nice. I wish you good luck with it. I thought this model was only exclusive to Australia.
@@justderpy3043 there's a few differences like it has a UHF tuner with individual channels rather than the VHF and UHF turret tuners, but it's pretty much the same. It's fighting back though, it's not the easiest thing to work on!
UK version are Panasonic instead of National.
@@LapisandHamtarolover Matsushita didn't use the Panasonic name in the UK until the late 70s. My UK market 1975 TV is branded National.
@MegaWayneD Not only UK; Europe too, Asia too: basically the countries with 240V 50Hz around the world. Either National with the logo or Panasonic inside the N logo.
Cool 😎 a look back in time. I remember this type of TVs
that is a very nice unit and video, fraser! im assuming it has a remote control? i agree that it seems to have a very good picture considering what it is and when its from
I don’t think it is remote compatible since it does not seem to have a sensor, and the small size too.
@@justderpy3043 how were you changing the channels without pressing buttons?
@@willpower3544 It does it automatically, it has an automatic tuning system as demonstrated in the video. You select a preset channel (one of the 8 buttons), and then you press one of the 3 tabs (VHF low, VHF high, and UHF) on the control panel above your set to look for a signal accordingly for the preset selected. The set then will scan through the range you selected to look for a signal within the range, once it finds a signal it would then stop scanning. The analogue channel set for each preset will not change or reset if you change preset channel or turn the set off. The length of the bar seen when the set is scanning for a signal determines how much it has scanned from the start of the range, and each bar has a colour for each range. Red for VHF low, Green for VHF High, and Blue for UHF.
