It will not go to your Ancestry tree until you sync your FTM to Ancestry. I think that is what you are asking?

I frequently move my media to save space, but I haven't done exactly what you're asking. However, when I do transfer my media, like moving it to an external hard drive, clicking on the photo in your tree simply prompts you to locate it so it can be relinked. I hope this helps!

Hi there, thanks for your comment. Personally, I prefer Ancestry, but that's just my opinion. I also use another software called TouchRetouch on Apple-it's quite simple, but it does the job. I'm not really an expert on editing photos; I just capture them.

If you are talking about Family Tree Maker that is on your computer, only see it that tree, if you are talking about Ancestry, then you just make it private, which I have done and you only give access to people that you what to see your tree. You choose the privacy settings for family tree.

To answer your question, if you sync your tree to Family Tree Maker following the steps in the video, it includes everything because it's a sync. However, if you download the tree as a file from Ancestry, like to your desktop, and then import it into Family Tree Maker, that would be a Gedcom file and won't include everything. If you feel it needs to be better then it would have been more constructive to indicate what aspects "could be better". As a former trainer I know that constructive feedback is what is needed in stead of leaving the speaker wondering what he/she needs to do. Personally I'm not sure when this colour coding is helpful, maybe when drawing up a family chart? I'm floundering really to work out when it would be useful for me.

Sorry, I have never printed a book from FTM, only Reports; I make my own books. I had a look for you in the book section, you have to enter in all the information, different from the reports. Sorry, I wasn't more help.

Hello, Yes it should, you can turn on the sync options, and it will show a log of the changes before it syncs, and you can cancel the sync if can see what changes are being made are wrong. You find this in the same place as the sync button where the little arrow is. It dosen't matter where the change is, if you change something FTM it will come up in Ancestry and if you do it in Ancestry in will come up in FTM. But check the sync box before you go ok if you put that option in, other wise it will just sync.

Lately there has been problems with syncing with Ancestry, I could not do it for about a month. I can do it now through. Maybe you should send an email to either FTM to see what they say. What is the error that comes up when you try to do the sync.

Hello, I am not with Family Tree Maker, but I received this answer when I asked the same question; they said: Our engineers have reproduced it, and, hopefully, it will be fixed in a future update. Sorry for the inconvenience caused, and thank you very much for pointing this out to us! The only workaround at this time is to update your macOS to Big Sur or later. As soon as there is a solution for older versions, we'll notify you. If you want information about FTM, here is the link www.mackiev.com/support_ftm.html I hope they fix it soon, as it is annoying. And I can not update my computer to the new software. I'm sorry I could not help you more.
