Are you looking to upgrade your air cooled 911 radio? Today we compare the 3 most common options and install our choice into our 1995 Porsche Carrera 3.2. #carreracafe #porsche911 1 - Continental VDO European Spec Radio 2 - Blaupunkt Radio 3 - Porsche Classic Chapters: 00:38 - Introduction 02:35 - Radio Comparison 10:30 - Tools Needed 13:39 - Radio Removal 17:58 - Testing Power, Ground, ACC 19:...
The Cayenne is designed for towing. During design of the first Gen it was to have capabilities to tow a 911 on a trailer giving it a 7500 pound towing capacity. And a vehicle with huge brakes.
I wish mine had the factory tow package!
Your Porsche looks amazing, congratulations.
@@nelsondossantos4572 thank you so much!
Idling at about 6K? Too low.
I appreciate the video. Probably too much for me in terms of the sound, but it does sound good.
@@sjuhawks1973 thanks for the feedback!
sad frog❤
Very interesting video, tips and sound takes, thanks for your time. I wouldn't have it for my daily driver, just as you mentioned it, wouldn't feel comfortable with the volume, at work, grocery shopping, etc where it sounds inappropriate to my personal taste. The volume of the factory exhaust on a 3.2 is known to be the loudest one of the basic 911 series, and sounds right. I look for stainless steel, lighter, easy flow and more communicating when i rev. Kind of an good-in-all. Any thoughts about Scart exhausts : the riva muffler with the straight pipe racing premuffler? Performance? Sound? Comparison? I'm in these thoughts these days.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ve considered these as well. I may try the Dansk Sport Muffler next!
Tip: if you're doing a video about how a car sounds...don't put background music.
@@lexusgs4604 noted and will keep BGM to a minimum next time! Thanks

@@celestebishop1262 thanks your feedback! I am passionate about cars and hope to grow the channel. Have a nice weekend!
I just installed the same unit in my '87 Carrera. Good video, just a few points. First, I bought a wiring harness for this radio that is plug and play from Bergvill FX. Yes the guy (Tore) is in Norway, but the stuff got to me in 2 days and worked perfectly. The only wiring that's needed outside of this harness (assuming the stock wires are there) is the orange illumination wire. Second, there is a menu for fader, treble, bass, and mid, but it's not intuitive. I read through the stereo manual and eventually figured it out (although I don't remember what I did). Overall the bluetooth works great and the sound is fine for a weekend car. If you have an iPhone (I'm not sure about an Android) and you have it connected to your car, it will speak the directions from Google Maps through the speakers as you are driving. I have the phone magnetically mounted so I can see the map and then hear the directions through the speaker, pretty close to Apple car play in that way.
Perfect timing. I was seeking info on updating the early 2000's Alpine head unit the PO put on my 1989 930. Was planning to go with the Porsche classic radio but this was very informative. Good luck with the new channel.
Thanks! Enjoy your new radio!

First.
I recently updated my 993 Turbo for a second time, this time with the Porsche Classic Radio and Alpine PXE-C80-88 and surprisingly pleased with the PCCM. I previously had replaced OEM Becker/Nokia HiFi system unit with a Alpine HD149BT head unit and Alpine PDX-V9 which did give me Bt and with the amber lighting option, fit the dash reasonably well. This served me well for 11 years, and preceded the Porsche Classic Radio at the time.
Jealous of your 993 turbo!

I haven't tried the Continental yet. However, I've had both versions of the Porsche Classic and the Blaupunkt. I would never recommend that anyone buys the Porsche Classics unit (unless I don't like you). It's terrible and a massive waste of money. The touch screen cannot be read with any amount of ambient light due to glare. The nannies are incredibly bad as well, not to mention that the interface and ergonomics make it practically unusable - I'm not exaggerating in the slightest here. I wrote a detailed review on the Pelican Forums that I'll link to below. I've had the Blaupunkt for several years and it's the best head unit I've ever had for this car (and it's the 6th that I've been through). Even better - in an 80's car, it looks quite period correct. From my experience (in a car that sees regular use) it's the best I've ever had in an air cooled 911. forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1073111-porsche-classic-communication-managemen-t-pccm-review.html
That’s a great write up! I totally agree with you. Thanks for the support
